I understand Vagabond once received the special 3-in-1 manga omnibus treatment, but how come Slam Dunk never released a special manga omnibus? If it came out today, I’d spend money on that for sure.

Slam Dunk actually got one a few years ago in Japan, wasn't exactly a 3-in-1 ( compressed 31 volumes into 20), but it was remarkable well received, so much so that oricon recorded the series as the 4th best selling manga in 2018, a full 22 years after it ended.

Viz might release it when the new movie comes out, but they skipped an earlier special edition that came out in 2002-2003 so who knows.

Dumb question but isn't this series a Sports Manga classic? I don't read much of that genre, but I heard it's good.

Man, Mokuba was one evil little shit in the original Yugioh. Tried to kill the group on multiple occasions. Pretty sure in the same arc as the serial killer Joey killed, he made them play Russian Roulette with poisoned food.
First time Mokuba had a gang with tasers and made Yugi go play capsule monsters with him in an abandoned warehouse, then Kaiba invited them over, Mokuab tried to kill Yugi and Joey with russain roulette food, then after that Kaiba and Mokuba had a falling out and then Mokuba played capsule monsters with Yugi again, only to loose, get saved, and turned into an ally after that.

Honestly Mokuba makes my heart weep, especially if you consider the S3 digital arc filler in the anime.

First Shonen jump magazine i bought there was a story about yugi and the girl going to a fast food place and she got held hostage by a gunman (??) was this in the anime lmao

Also I was jamming to the Pastel Yumi theme and then I discovered that Mariko Saiga has been dead for over 30 years. She moved to California to go to college and in November 1989 she died in a car accident on a trip in Arizona when her car swerved and tumbled off a cliff

And now I'm reading about yutaka ozaki and yukiko Okada....I fell down a rabbit hole. Yukiko was an idol singer who jumped off a building but strangely before that she was discovered crying in the closet of her gas filled apartment with a slashed wrist.

Yutaka was a popular male singer. In 92 he was found naked in an alleyway with a bump on his head and really odd injuries all over his body. He was taken to hospital. Got released. Later dead from pulmonary embolism of lungs. Some think Sony covered it up

And yes there are photos of both deceased.

Yeah, but instead of actually burning to death, he just thought he was for the rest of his life.

You guys have any recommendation to some good, modern anime/manga? I've read/watch Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia on and off but never got invested in them.. The only manga I did enjoy was Berserk and I don't need to talk about how great that series is as well as what happened recently.
I'm so happy for Casca, cried like a little bitch.

I used to be an otaku years ago but the passion kind of died down in the 2010s. Looking to get back into the swing of things.

One Punch Man keeps switching from super dire to super okay from chapter to chapter. It’s one hell of a ride.

It may help if you narrow it down to certain genres or "Something like X" cause as you can imagine there's a lot of shows out there. If you're looking for something like Berserk I never read it personally but I heard it's gory dark fantasy so the first thing that comes to mind for me is the most recent Dororo anime from 2019.

For manga I really enjoy One-Punch Man and Golden Kamuy, and if you count stuff that's older but still ongoing, I'd recommend Battle Angel Alita and Yotsuba as well. OPM has an excellent anime adaption for the first season but you gotta switch to the manga after, Golden Kamuy cuts too many important details and scenes to recommend over the manga but it really does get the characters right so it's nice if you've already read it. Yotsuba and Alita will likely never get full anime adaptions sadly.

For anime specifically I also enjoyed SSSS.Gridman Mob Psycho 100 and Girl's Last Tour. Last Tour even had its outro personally animated by the manga artist herself. I can't recommend Mob Psycho enough.

It depends on what you are into.

If you like seinen like Berserk. Try the Tokyo Ghoul manga, Fate/Zero, Goblin Slayer or Parasyte anime

If you like shonen. Try Demon Slayer anime, Hunter x Hunter anime or Juju Kaisen anime.

If you like long running manga/shonen that has been going forever and is still great. Try One Piece.

And if you like Berserk and have not read Vagabond that might be up your alley.

I was told if you like berserk, vinland saga is pretty good.

For me, my recommendations are
- YuGiOh! (Season 0 if you want the more "gritty" stuff, but if you watch duel monsters do it in sub. 4kids is a good laugh thought.)
- Demon Slayer (26 episodes + a movie) it itches' the gore factor and it has a great story with well written characters
- Mob Psycho 100 (2 seasons, and 2 OVAS and a drama series) it's light hearted but when it goes hard it goes HARD
- The disasterous life of Saiki K. (2 seasons + awakening which is like 6 episodes) it's a shounen but also a gag / slice of life kinda anime? This had me rolling on the floor and was a nice feel good show.
- Rock Lee and His Ninja Pals- (52 episodes) you don't need to know a damn thing about Naruto to enjoy this and it eventually got me to watch Naruto. Huge gag/slap stick and it's always funny
- Gundum 0079 (like 52 episodes?) I got into this via rerez and soem help from the farms. Best mecha anime i've seen, it's kinda old but god I never binged anything so fast.

Other recs are:
Dorohedoro, Kaiji, Nerima Daikon Brothers, and Cromarite High School.

I'm not sure if vapewizard meant Dorohedoro, but I'd definitely recommend both the manga and anime if you liked Berserk. The art is something else.
I mean this one. https://anilist.co/anime/101347/Dororo/ I never read the original Tezuka manga but the 2019 anime seemed like a good remake to me cause the team put their own spin on the story in a way that worked well. From what I've been told the original manga had some cartoony humor moments to it and handwaved Hyakkimaru not having any sensory organs by giving him telepathy, while the 2019 anime actually shows what it was like for him to live 16 years with only the ability to 'sense' other lifeforms around him but without being able to actually communicate with them.

If you're getting back into anime I'd recommend Space Dandy, from 2014. It's basically Johnny Bravo meets Cowboy Bebop. Pretty light fare, but Watanabe is an excellent director and the animation is really top notch.

So my thought on the current season:
Fumetsu no Anata e - Really good setup, pacing and world building, also balances well the darker aspects with the lighter aspects.
Zombieland Saga S2 - Anime of the season, one of the cases the sequel knows exactly what was good in thelast season and capitalizes on it.
Kumo desu ga, Nani ka - Still nice, but it starts to get bogged down with extra characters and the human side of the plot.
SSSS.Dynazenon - Kinda meh, it's hard to get invested when it seems like no one in the cast really cares that much about what's happening, plus the battles are more boring compared to Gridman.
The World Ends With You - Nice for nostalgia sake, but the rapid pacing hurts the atmosphere, which was one of the best things about the game.
Blue Reflection Ray -Also meh, it's too slow paced and I'm really annoyed it doesn't have the same soundtrack style as the game.
Thunderbolt Fantasy S3 - Fun as always.
Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san - The funniest anime of the season. Quickly becomes very wholesome and it's extra funny when Nagatoro gets screwed by her own teasing.
Vivy - Fluorite Eye's Song - It's pretty bad. The anime feels like the writer played Nier Automata and reached the conclusion that what counts as deep is cute robot waifu suffering. A lot of the plot feels arbitrary, there is an anti-android terrorist group because, a character has a clone because. I thought it was the case of an anime adaption skipping over plot points, but no, it's just the writer being lazy. It's not even entertainingly bad like a lot of Sunrise anime. If you want a good (relatively) recent anime about people relation with android, watch Plastic Memories, it's underrated as hell.
Shadows House - I like it. The anime really balances the tone of grim implications with an overall optimistic outlook and the characters are very likable. Hope it continues like it and doesn't just go full dark to be edgy.
Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! - It's just painfully unfunny. The characters just don't mesh together at all and the plot doesn't do anything particularly funny.
