I still remember the Endless Eight fiasco. Might very well have been the most exceptional moment in anime, when the director's head went full in into his ass from fart sniffing.
I still don't know what the idea was. having the obligatory beach episode 8 times? show how shit it is to repeat the same timeframe over and over - which never works for viewers when they can straight up skip to the end? might as well ask them to watch the same episode 1000 times.

which reminds me I still need to look up how it was done in the novel, because kyon during the anime was so fucking exceptional it drove me up a wall. "oh hey, we've been stuck in a time loop for fucking 500 years, should we try to get out of it? naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah", which is what makes that shit only watchable in the first place, seeing how the protagonist struggles to break the loop.

On the subject of 2000's revivals, I'm still holding out hope for a continuation of Haruhi Suzumiya since Disappearance, released a decade ago this month, as great as it was, ended where the novel ended and didn't even contain the conclusion to its own story arc (Kyon going back in time again to save himself from Ryoko Asakura), which is the first part of The Intrigues of Haruhi Suzumiya (the third book published after Disappearance but the next full-length novel in the series since Rampage and Wavering were short story compilations).

least we got mommy haruhi

So did endless eight happen because of pretentioussness or to save money?

From what I heard they redid the animation for each episode. Which is a shameful waste of good animation.

The Endless Eight was apperantly a short story in the novels.

Also I want more Amagi Brilliant Park :(

Well, love "Endless Eight" or hate it, the rest of the Haruhi Suzumiya novels and short stories have, at most, parallel timelines and don't lend themselves to that kind of stunt.

Considering the unfortunate situation with Kyoto Animation, I suppose any Haruhi Suzumiya continuation would likely have to be done at a different studio, quite possibly Satelight which produced the Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan spin off although I'd want the character designs to stick closer to those of the late Haruhi Suzumiya character designer and chief animatior Shoko Ikeda (real name Shoko Terawaki) especially for Kyon, whose Yuki-chan design, while close to the Yuki-chan manga, was a radical departure from the main series.

Haruhi is definitely a franchise ripe for revival save for the unfortunate situation with Kyoto Animation of course.

But my big one is Read or Die, if not a continuation after R.O.D The TV then at least a reboot, a prequel, something, because while one can debate whether the ending of the TV series was good enough there was still so much about that world that was unexplained, that I can only assume is delved into more in the original light novels, that there's still a lot of potential there.

I go back and forth on whether another R.O.D anime is possible, part of me feels like it's juuuuuust well known enough for it to happen, there are definitely more obscure things out there, but part of me also feels like it's basically been forgotten, if it's gonna happen though it will probably happen in the 2020s.

Beyond that this may be a controversial pick but I'd like to see something done with Azumanga Daioh, I feel like there's potential in the idea of taking one of these "cute highschool girls doing cute things" animes and showing what life is like for them after high school, that's something that hasn't been done before as far as I know and I feel like there's potential in that idea.

Heck, they could go really crazy and have it be 20 years later and show them as fully grown adults with kids of their own.

I think Azumanga Daioh: The College Years would be fun but I doubt Kiyohiko Azuma, who infamously refuses to allow Yotsuba & ! to be animated, would consider an animated continuation of Azumanga Daioh. I've seen people suggest that Azumanga Daioh is a show that would be perfect for a remake since it's considered "old" now as it was animated for 4:3 fullscreen but almost everything from the manga made it to the anime, save for one short story arc about Chiyo getting a job at a fast food hamburger place and the bonus comics from the 10th anniversary edition (like Osaka asking Kaorin if she's a homosexual only to get an unconvincing denial followed by "the term is 'lesbian'").

I've long wanted a continuation of Kamichu!, from the same creators as Read Or Die, since there are infinite story potentials for a human turned goddess beyond her middle school years.

Well I'm assuming of course that this is something the original creator would want to do and have input on.

A remake isn't a bad idea though because even if it'd be covering much of the same ground it'd still introduce it to a new generation and could be HD and widescreen, as well as perhaps featuring a few all new stories as well.

But anyway, there's also Hellsing, which one can say ended in a clusterfuck and should be left well enough alone, but there's also the prequel The Dawn, which simply petered out, Kouta Hirano could continue that.

Anyone else watching this among this seasons animes?
(If yes, what do you think of it thus far?)

It's been pretty interesting so far,
and I honestly can't wait to see the young detective girl become the next brilliant detective.
Things look like it'll get pretty interesting if they keep with the bizarre aspects of the human mind.

I'd have loved if if they had made more anime-original Azumanga Daioh episodes. Episode 19, "One Spring Night", the only episode to have been an entirely original story, was fantastic, being just a touch more melancholy and dramatic than the rest of the series.

Given that it looks like Higurashi's getting a reboot, there's a chance Umineko will get a reboot as well, but I'm not holding my breath over it. It'd be cool, though.

Skip Beat is due for another season. Seriously.

So far I've been liking it quite a bit. I'm not too big on serial killer anything, but this code lyoko kind of twist I'm finding is quite enjoyable.
I'm pretty excited for that too! Though I was thinking from how their machine functions it could possibly pick up a sense to live, then they'd have to use the perforator with a drive to kill to find the person. Kind of the opposite of the great detective. I'm making a prediction that may be a thing in the series too!
It's like a key part to mess with the human mind, though I think they are also doing what shows like NCIS do where there's a larger arc over the whole season- the John Walker character comes to mind.

Honestly, my theory for John Walker is that he's similar to the current brilliant detective
in that he's capable of driving people to commit acts of violence, like the perforator drilling the hole in his own head and driving him to kill.
His aesthetic also heavily reminds me of some kind of either old time ringleader/showman outfit or an old time doctor/therapist.

You and I are on the same page about him except I have another idea on top of that.
I'm thinking his appearance is a little bit different than the Brilliant Detective. I know we only have had one example, BUT! When John Walker was "defeated" in the world of the Perferator the Perferator calmed down even if he said it was because Hondomachi went to drill a hole in her own head.

I also have another theory; John Walker was also very weak going down in one hit in the perferator's world, but straight took a vase to the head in the Grave Diggers world and didn't even flinch. This could be a certain level of influence he has had on the person making his own manifestation stronger and harder to defeat.
I'm going with his appearance is suppose to be a showman, he's making a bit of a show when he's there.

So I've read the debut oneshot by the authors behind Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, written before they made everyone's new favorite ghost and radish-on-legs duo. You can read it at the scanlation group's tumblr, who seemed to have made it their mission to translate everything related to AidaIro. Quite the devoted bunch.

Prepare yourselves though...

...because that was some fucked up shit.
