So, I've waited for months on the next Berserk Chapter, to find out just what the hell is going to go down with Casca, now having regained her senses and after seemingly breaking down once more when seeing Guts again...

... and after all this wait, the next chapter is Griffith fighting some Troll-Ogre monsters whose plot arc I don't even remember at fucking all being in this comic? Fuck you Miura. Noone cares about Griffith's exceedingly autistic crusade and these stupid wankers.
Hell, I was just scrolling through the pages without paying attention cause I could literally not give less of a shit about any of this or the characters involved, even if I tried. Fucking resolve the Casca-goes-to-Elfhelm arc already, it has gone on for a decade by now.

Protip for Berserk: Waiting till its done is better than getting blue balled for decades.
That's what I did for the better part of a decade, went back and caught up with the chapters (it weren't many) but at least they got off the goddamned boat and the goal of curing Casca slowly (but notably) came closer and closer...
Now she's cured and we get a cliffhanger and Griffith doing Giffith things and you could sum up a dozen or so of his chapters with this page:

Monsters that I don't care about kill monsters that I don't care about. The Manga could literally be just about Guts' adventrue and them eventually returning to Falconia (or whatever it's called) to be told by Rickert that this shit went down in a short flashback.

Guess I'll actually have to give up on this for at least another decade and hope it'll get finished sometime.
With the exceedingly long waiting times, it's hard to really assess the plot progression, but I have a feeling, even when you read all these past 100 or so Chapters in one go, it will feel bloated and drawn out for major parts.

*has already started reading Berserk*

Well shit.

Well, you just need to pause reading it when Guts and his Gang gets on the boat with Roderic, I guess. Berserk, especially the beginning, is fantastic and the chapters up till the cruise ship arc are well written and paced. It's only afterwards that it sort of falls apart in terms of progress. When they get to Elfhelm, the plot picks up again, but since that arc isn't yet concluded, it's a bit of a slog to sit through - especially when the focus is suddenly shifted to something entirely else that's frankly not nearly as interesting.

Anyone else enjoying Late Night Bakabon? My favorite characters are Mr. Policeman and Eel-Dog.

Current binge watches:

GOSIK and Kakeguri.

Quite enjoying them, really.

And thus, the weakness of Berserk continues.

When it comes to Anime, the only type I'm willing to watch is old school anime, I feel like the hand drawn characters' movements are more alive, and the watercolor backgrounds are beautiful. The only exceptions to this is Avatar: TLA, and Attack on Titan.

Besides the shows I mentioned, I watch Macross, Ghost in the Shell, and Akira. My favorite is in between GTS, an Akira, both of their soundtracks are awesome, as well as their setting, and art
Anime really lost something with the HDTV crossover. The old shows had a lot more work put into all aspects of the composition, just to make sure they would look decent on a low-fi CRT TV screen. Even low budget shows had a unique look. As soon as they started moving to digital animation, everything took on the color palette of a Disney Princess storybook.

Its still pretty funny to think that is an official dub. Like the rights holders had no problem with it. makes you think just how badly the original do to allow this to happen.

Despite being directed by Noriyuki Abe, it bombed so hard the creators told ADV that, as long as they kept the main plot of the story and characters' names intact, they could do whatever they wanted to sell it so the Japanese producers could break even. This was just before Super Milk-chan if I got my timeline right.

Here, Monica Rial can explain it.

Found an interesting oldie. This show had an English dub that was rarely seen in a few places like Canada. Based on a story involving a white girl and her family in Kenya.

This channel features the entire series if any of you are interested in that. It was dubbed in Canada and only ever shown there - I believe in Montreal. Anyone recognize any of the voices? I do, but I can't place any.

Most of the WMT shows have not been dubbed, and of those dubs, most aren't available today. The dubs of the Little Women, Swiss Family Robinson and Tom Sawyer series, however, can be found on Amazon Prime.

It is pretty much the sort of people that have done things for Cinar and other companies in the area, a few of these guys were probably on the Jungle Book anime for instance. I was checking the end credits, not only did "TV Ontario" get mentioned for airing the program (and denying it later), but "Turner Entertainment Co." is also credited under "in association with", makes me wonder what other odd things that company had under its belt nobody knew about.

Thank goodness.

I have to admit I'm suspicious.

"We need to make as much money as possible in the US release, so let's toss out the script and let the voice actors make it up. Improv comedy by people without writing credits! That's what the kids are into today!"

vs.

"We're cutting our losses on this one, so we're not translating the script."

at some point im sure they lose more money on a shitty dub no one would use over the subs than just releasing a subs only version.
Gatcham Crowds was a sin
Like is it really that hard to fucking try to at least match the tone/ pitch of voice??

Anyone remember El Hazard? It was an early "isekai", I guess with the popularity now, looks like they want to bring it back:

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ne...dfunding-for-el-hazard-sequel-project/.135364

Anime production company AIC is showing a preview page for a new Campfire crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a five-minute pilot film for the El Hazard - The Magnificent World franchise. If funded, the pilot will be for a possible new anime project titled El Hazard: The Dual World.

The campaign has not yet launched, but it will aim to raise 5 million yen (about US$45,000) to fund production for the pilot. The project already has a committee to fund the project partially if the campaign is successful. The project aims to prove the viability of funding a full anime project (the page mentions that most television anime projects need a 200 million yen budget).

Yūsuke Maruyama is directing the project.

The story will center on two new characters named Naoto and Farasha Jinnai. Naoto's daily life is upended when he meets a mysterious cat. Meanwhile, Ifurita notices that the Eye of God is collapsing. Both signal change in their worlds. Farasha, the daughter Katsuhiko and Diva, chases her father's dream of being the student council president.

The characters include:

Naoto, a high school student at the top of his grade level in both grades and popularity. He has a thickheaded side. The story begins when his normal daily life crumbles with the appearance of a mysterious cat.

Farasha Jinnai, a high school student, and Jinnai and Diva's daughter. While a bit of an airhead, she is very passionate. She aims to become the student council president. She has been friends with Mauj and Sefi since childhood.

Mauj, nicknamed "Mau." She is a close friend of Farasha, and the daughter of Fujisawa and Miz. She is the new water priestess.

The franchise began with the seven-episode El Hazard - The Magnificent World OVA by AIC in 1995, followed by the 26-episode El-Hazard: The Wanderers television anime, which is an alternate retelling of the story. The original OVA received a four-episode sequel OVA in 1997 titled El Hazard 2 - The Magnificent World, and a 12-episode sequel television anime titled El Hazard: The Alternative World.

El Hazard: The Dual World is the fourth of the special "Anime Reboot Projects" to celebrate AIC's 35th anniversary. The other three are the tentatively titled Megazone 23 sin remake project, the Tenchi Muyo! and Pretty Sammy franchises' tentatively titled Sasami 14 sequel, and the Megazone 23 XI project. AIC has launchedan ongoing supplementary campaign for Megazone 23 XI.
