Discotek will re-release Angel Cop with two sets of subtitles:the old Manga Entertainment one and a newly revised one more faithful to the Japanese script...you guys know what that means, right?
OY VEY!

the salt will be delicious!
kudos to Discotek for actually having the balls to do that!

I doubt anyone will be offended. The damn thing’s so stupid no one will even feign offense.

But Discotek does have balls. They’ve been putting out tons of great titles the U.S. has never gotten until now, things most other anime companies would never touch. It’s a miracle they exist at all, and thank God they do.

I’m really hoping that these last two releases of Berserk are leading up into something huge for the story, the slow pacing up until 352 was killing me. I also get the feeling that Casca May end up dying in future chapters, which may end the “calm arc” of Berserk.

So what are some other power level fight shows now that Dragonball Super is over? A buddy is looking for a new show, he's already seen Bleach and didn't dig Naruto. I figure I'll throw a few eps of a few on a drive so he can get a feel for some other shows. I was thinking Fist of the North Star and Yu Yu Hakusho, what else should be worth trying?

'Kay, it's not a power level fighting anime, but Ushio and Tora is a one of those "my funny 'friend' and me" shounen that helped influence the genre and has some really good fights with yokai and surprisingly heartfelt moments. The TV anime had to cut down on its size so it could get to the climax faster (so the manga is definitely worth the read), but its '90s style is beautifully recreated and the choreography was well-done. It sadly went under a lot of people's radars when it first came out (it's quite popular in Japan, though), so see if your friend's willing to try something a little out of the mainstream.

I'm honestly surprised they haddn't done the deed already.

Thinking of Berserk, I'm reminded back in the 00's when some in a podcast compained at how the main guy was still stuck on a boat at the time. I'm sure he's gotten off it already but that part always made me laugh.

Yeah, same.

I don’t want to put Miura on too high of a pedastal because I get the feeling that he is releasing all of these short updates because he’s currently working on the Guts/Casca chapter- in other words, he’s just distracting us with Griffith.

I am currently re-reading the manga and was just reminded that everyone who got sacrificed/fallen apostles had their soul sent to the Vortex or whatever you want to call it- I hope Griffith will get ripped apart by it like the Count did in Black Swordsman arc or something, it’d be the most satisfying way for him to die if it’s not by Guts’ dragonslayer. I get the feeling I’m alone on that though.

For some reason; maybe because it was Memorial Day weekend, I decided to take a trip down memory lane this weekend and watch some of the first Yugioh series. I stopped watching around the Waking the Dragons arc, so I decided to pick up where I left off over a decade ago and finish the arc. I had about 10 episodes left and remembered what was happening at that point in the arc.

It's probably because my tastes have refined since I've gotten older, but I can't believe I tolerated this garbage when I was younger. I was taken aback by how bad the animation was, and how campy and awful the dialogue was. I watched the 4Kids dub to be fair, but I forgot just how bad it got. I was thoroughly entertained though. I love me some bad campy anime, and this really filled the void I've been feeling lately. Maybe it was just this season, but Kaiba had these great bad one-liners and these deadpan burns for the other characters that were so funny to me I almost spit up my water a couple times from laughing.

By far, the best thing I got out of this experience was this picture of Tristan I'm using as my avatar. Iirc, Yugi just lost some Life Points, and all the other characters are looking on in shock and horror, but Tristan has this fucking extreme grimacing smile on his face. I completely lost it for 5 minutes and had to take a picture.

You too? I shouldn't feel glad to know I wasn't the only one who lost interest in Yu-Gi-Oh around that time as a kid, but thinking back on it, it explains a lot about just how uninteresting and long that arc is (it being a filler arc notwithstanding, probably not helped Kids' WB kept playing reruns). Which sucks because Dartz had some potential to be an interesting villain, and for an anime-only villain, too, that alone would've been really impressive.

Agreed wholeheartedly. It's really bad and silly no matter what dub you're watching, but it's definitely entertaining. I personally like to consider the anime basically the poster child of the awkward 2000s era of digital animation, or the "tween" years, anyway, and it's no wonder it's so chockfull of memes. There's just something for everyone, and it's so comforting. So much so that as much as I enjoyed Darkside of Dimensions and think it was the movie we should've gotten in 2004, it honestly was missing a little bit of that 2000s charm.

But my God, if it wasn't for Weevil's dub voice (I know the character's meant to get under your skin and shit, but just what the fuck, Carter Cathcart Jimmy Zoppi?), it'd be a whole lot more tolerable. That little shit is probably the sole reason "Waking the Dragons" is such a hard arc to sit through, at least it is for me.

Idk. Weevil was so cartoonishly evil in the arc I couldn't hate on him. At least with the 4Kids dub, I'm glad their was continuity with James Carter Cathcart voicing Weevil for the entirety of the show. I almost feel like the director told him to do whatever the hell he wanted for Awaken the Dragons because I swear most of his dialogue was just cackling. I still laugh my ass off when he says "LONG LIVE THE QUEEEEEEN!"

The most jarring voice in that arc for me was Mai. For seasons 1-3, Megan Hollingshead voiced her, but then she quit 4Kids before Awaken the Dragons was dubbed. So then Mai was voiced by Erica Schroeder, and it just sounded wrong. I have nothing against Schroeder, but in a weird way, Hollingshead really made that role her own, so anyone else voicing Mai sounded off to me.

Yeah, he's always been cartoonishly evil, but I swear getting possessed by the Orichalcos made those traits even worse.

Indeed, that was just really tragic. Though I think Rebecca had the second-worst voice in the series, Kerry Williams just never sounded good. She has had a couple of roles that were surprisingly well-done (Domino in Mewtwo Returns, Flora of Winx Club from what I remember), but she either was just not that great of a voice actress, or the ADR director directed her badly.

One Piece 906.. :stress:

That was one sucker-punch of a chapter.. All bets are off now lol.

Yeah, Luffy officially having a harem means everyone wins.

Oh, oh yeah, that was mind-blowing. I can't wait for the inevitable raid of Mariejois by the Straw Hat crew and fleet, it's gonna be fucking epic full of Celestial Dragons getting punched in their gaping maws ten--no, hundredfold.

I have a feeling that the hat belongs to Joy Boy, you can see the shadowy figure sort of link Luffy and the frozen hat. Also, I would love for Charloss to get punched by Sabo for creeping on Shirahoshi, that would be kind of poetic lol.

Reverie arc is outstanding so far, you can feel that it's gonna be one of the denser arcs of the series, especially now that the editor confirmed that it would be a short arc of 10-something chapters.

Oda's been knocking it out of the park ever since the Dressrosa ending

And for non-OP stuff, I am very, very excited that both Kimetsu no Yaiba and The Promised Neverland are getting anime series.

FLCL was promising. Pillows were amazing as usual, Haruko was solid. /a/ complained about visual quality but I was watching on a shitty stream so I can't comment. NotHaruko seems pretty flat as a character is my biggest complaint, but it's hard to judge from one episode.

Should i give konosuba and boku no hero academia a go?
Ive been thinking about reading them after i finish the garbage that is hokuto no ken 2

konosuba's manga is incredibly behind. If you really gotta read it, go for the novels.
Hero academia is good, if you like stuff in the same vein of naruto.

I have to say Hnk 2 is not garbage but, neither is it as good as the first...
I say it was worth it, just for the..... you have the look of a man now, batto....
