I am almost finished with that dreck after putting it off. 5 out of 10. The worst part is nobody fucking dies ever, so there is no fucking stakes. Literally nothing in this world matters because Nasu and the good guys will always win.

I haven't read Fairy Tail yet, but isn't this an overall issue in a lot of manga anyway. Do the stakes matter anywhere at all in hindsight when a series is done ? The Genie is out of the bottle when important characters get killed off only to be somehow resurrected.

The series is over 300 episodes and it is just fight after fight with nobody fucking dying or anything. Stakes matter because it makes those episodes mean something. I don't even remember what i watched nigga.

Didn't he retcon it to being the "East branch"? And like every shonen, the bad shit the previous villains did is forgotten once they get to become allies.

I think you misunderstood me. I agree that stakes are quite important, it just seems to be such a rare occurrence either because no mangaka can be bothered since a lot of stuff is written weekly and there seems to be no coherent plan for anything and/or it would have a negative effect on the bottom line. Would be cool if character deaths would be more meaningful, but maybe I haven't read a series where that is the case.

That's not even the half of it. Pretty much everyone in the Soul Society who isn't a Soul Reaper is impoverished and starving all the time but they can't die from starvation, they can die from Soul Reapers slaughtering them though which they can do pretty much anytime they want without punishment. There's a part at the beginning of the final arc where Yamato casually asks Mayuri, "Hey, did you happen to murder 28,000 people recently?" to which he basically goes, "lmao yea", honestly I feel like you'd be better off just becoming a hollow, they're hungry all the time too but at least they can fucking eat. I choose to read this as the story saying to enjoy your time being alive because dying sucks ass pretty much no matter how you end up.
