I never started it because it looked like I would just grow tired of it after the initial premise wore off ala Shield Hero. SH started really interesting with the "fuck everyone" protag, but it mellows out pretty quick, and it ultimately didn't have enough going for it to keep me around. Frieren's rise might as well be seen as the death knell for all "par" fantasy/isekai anime (which is the vast majority of them). All of their flaws and lack of world building and lack of spirit are made bare by Frieren shitting on them all with sheer quality.
 
I started watching Red Ranger Reincarnated as an Adventurer recently. I tried the first episode because I thought no way this could be good, but it's been pretty funny. The desert Kamen Rider transformation gets me every time.
 
I have become extremely obsessed with Sgt. Frog lately. On the surface, it looked like a dumb kids' show, but then I got to the episode where they literally drill each other in the ass and realized this was more than just a kids' show...it was an experience, man.

The more episodes I watch, the weirder it gets. In no particular order, I've seen episodes focusing on evil ice cream, talking underwear, "butt ventriloquism", a spot-on Chargeman Ken parody, magic cough drops, living graffiti, and a space alien who wants to give everybody afros. Luckily, this is the type of anime where you can watch things out of order and not really miss anything.

But the thing that won me over were the characters. Keroro isn't just a doofus who's obsessed with his Gunpla models, he's actually got some hidden depth. I've noticed a recurring theme where he gets really depressed whenever the others leave or betray him, implying that all he really wants is to be loved.

The other frogs are really strong characters too. Giroro's relationship with Natsumi, while kind of odd, is really sweet. I like the episode where it seems like she's about to die from an incurable space disease, and Giroro goes to the ends of the universe to try to save her. What a chad!

Tamama is probably my second-favorite. He's so adorable, and at the same time deadly. I love his undying devotion to his boss to the point that he is actually in love with him. Whenever he goes into his jealous mode and starts talking in that deep scratchy voice, I always laugh.

Despite being the most one-note of the crew, Kururu is also very funny. Part of that has to do with Takehito Koyasu's hilarious portrayal of him, but I also adore how he is probably the most screwed-up one of them all. There is an amazing episode where they go inside of Giroro's memories, and Kururu starts inserting himself into all of the Natsumi-related ones just to mess with Giroro...or is he trying to tell Giroro something important???

My personal favorite of the cast is Dororo, as I'm sure you can tell from my new avatar. He is basically perfect and I want him to be my friend.

I'm somehow not surprised by this at all, and I know jackshit about Sgt. Frog other than it's kinda like a sister series to Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo in terms of parody and widget series, and some people actually ship Giroro and Natsumi together and you're supposed to roll with it.

You should really give it a try! For some reason, I’ve got a soft spot for dumb, comedic anime like this.

sad part is frieren's worldbuilding wasn't even anything great or good

I love Urasawa works, but I feel like his endings are the weakest part of the story (I read 20th CB, Pluto, Billy Bat and watched Monster). Don't get me wrong, it's not Tokyo Revengers or Jujutsu Kaisen level of bad or something, but still, I don't enjoy them as much, as previous parts of his stories. Old friend of mine who is the biggest Urasawafag I've ever met shares the same opinion.

It was one of my very first mangas back in 2015 (also watched the anime back then). I have some level of nostalgia towards Karin, but that's the type of series I couldn't care less about if It came out now.

I can understand having serialized series end very badly, that's one of the downsides of having serialized works cause you're making it up as you go along. I really like urasawa as well but I feel like he's capable of writing better endings. A lot of his setups are good but end up flat and I feel like people say his stories are deep and philosophical when they're really disposable. Some philosophy or poignant thing brought up one moment will end up not mattering 20 chapters later, very disposable storytelling in contrast to the themes building up towards the climax of the arc or the end of the story. Please don't tell me billy bat ends like this as well, I have high expectations for it since it's a time travel thing and deals with real world history.

I'm getting the feeling Asadora! is going to have the same problem. Urasawa's strength is really with episodic or short story style content. Anything longer, I feel he needs a co-writer to tighten things up. So many vignettes from Monster alone could be cut out, and sold as a solid thematic anthology of stand alone stories.
 
If I could recommend ONE anime that I think Null would enjoy, it's Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor.

It's a shame that anime has such a bad reputation that he will never watch this but I think he would genuinely enjoy it. It's completely grounded in reality and the main character is not some superhero, he's literally a loser with a deadend job and a crippling gambling addiction who gets into so much debt that he's forced into increasingly dangerous games in order to try and pay off his debt.

1. There is no loli shit whatsoever.
2. There aren't even any major female characters, there is no degenerate sex shit at all.
3. The art style is very unique, it's very distinct from the usual uwu anime moe style.

The first 9 episodes are just Kaiji playing rock paper scissors for money against other gamblers and it's some of the most riveting drama I've ever watched, not kidding. The entire focus of the story is Kaiji trying to outsmart his opponents and avoid losing everything, you pity him for his stupidity and lack of self control but you also root for him since he's one of the only people in the show that has any kind of moral scruples at all. Kinda like a more sympathetic Bossmanjack.

You could easily watch it with a crunchyroll free trial.

Never really cared to check out Kaiji before, but when you put it that way, I think I'll check it out!

I do understand your sentiment but I think the characters and their relations to each other were more the point of the series than the setting.

That latest episode of apothecary diaries was such a fucking tease. I already know they aren't going to kiss but that set up and then roll credits pissed me off.

Although the mouth to mouth CPR was obviously fan service.

99% of all Anime/Manga Thread Posters Stop Giving Null Anime Recommendations Right Before He Finally Watches An Anime
 
Kaiji is one of my favorites, yeah. The first season is on my top 5 of best anime ever, the second season is still pretty good but I think the pachinko arc went on for a bit too long. The soundtrack is great too, made by the same guy from Death Note, who later got arrested for possesion of a minuscule amount of marijuana which is apparently a grave crime in Japan, so he hasn't worked again ever since. A shame.

If you want to continue the story you'll need to learn how Japanese mahjong is played, because that's what the third arc is about (and possibly more, I haven't read it yet).

There's also the Tonegawa spin-off, it's comedic and clearly not canon. Still good.
