I still can't get over the fact that Kodansha made two comdey spin offs that released so close. like holy fuck they were both unfunny as sin. They were both shat out cause the manga wasn't being released fast enough for the money shoots liking. and I am not going to lie the only reason why I fellow the series was cause 2013 was a odd year for me and didn't have much to do other wise. I just sort of fell out of the series once the anime's climax happen. Might give it another go with season 2 happening, but I think season 2 going to have filler.
I never watched it (praise Allah), but just looking at it, it failed to grab my attention.
If fans start praising the live-action movies over season 2, then we can officially say that anime is great again.

Oh my God, the AOT salt is already pretty good with the 12-episode announcement, but to have filler in that short amount of time will be glorious. And we're never going to hear the end of it.

A friend of mine says it was a mistake (and also doesn't make sense) for Wit Studio to wait four years for season two, animator staff shortage or no. This is kind of what I'd expect from Toei who can somehow pull this shit off and still end up making a profit at the end of the day, not from a studio that's only been around since 2012. It makes Studio Pierrot look smarter in that regard even though they've become infamous for their fillers and making questionable anime-only decisions with their properties.
Hopefully, some of them went to David Productions. Or to Otomo

"Mature content" I imagine it has mild content but because its a cartoon, it has to have a warning?
The original OVA's were never meant to be seen by children, and their inclusion on Toonami was always a headscratcher to me other than a need for more episodes to show, they eventually ended up putting out VHS tapes in clamshells of those edited versions too, was the only time I didn't expect to find that show on the shelves at Kmart, when they were only ever available at Camelot at the mall for $30 (in paper sleeves).

I think this is from the creator?
This is the character designer we're talking about, he wasn't THE creator but helped out in designing these guys.

here have a sperg wall of text as I try to guess if there will be filler and why they are doing 12 episodes for Season 2 of Attack on Titan. you have been warned.
So after a work I decide to wind down by searching to see If my filler thing for AoT season 2 is true or not. Why yes I've never been in a relationship with another human being, but that beside the point. The first thing that I looked up was how many chapters of the manga were used for the anime, about 34 chapters of 40 or so page were used for the 25 episode anime. after that I used first grade level math to figure out how chapters have been released after chapter 34, about 57 chapters have been made since then. You would think that's more then enough for another set 25 five episodes right? well here is were I put on my tin foil hat on. My theory goes that Wit Studio was planing on doing another set of 25 episodes after the success explosion AoT. Their plan was to wait for the manga to release more chapters to adapted. They figured that all the spin offs, movies and the manga itself would hold out until there able to make more of the anime. But sadly for them the public at large was starting to lose interest in the series. The manga is a on monthly schedule and 12 40 paged chapters aren't enough to make another season. My Hero Academia's used 21 chapters that around to about 20 pages for a 12 episode anime. So this brings me back to why only 12 episodes after fours years? You would think over they would 25 since the manga was out for fours before the first happen. But leads me to my some what baseless theory. there making only 12 episodes for now as a testing ground to see if people still care enough about the series. another reason I guess is that the money just isn't there like it was in the beginning. the studio might want to preserve the same quality as in the first season, but might not the resources to do so with 25 episdoe. now I finally bring back the filler I metione before, I calling it now the ending of this season 2 will be filler to make it more exciting to hook folks to want another season. If Season 2 is a sucess we'll mostly likely see season 3 in a years time. But I could be wrong as i just doing a shit ton of guess work and we'll have to wait and see if season will be good or not.

Intended for teenagers then?

Huh..

Wasn't sure where to put this, but it's anime-related so whatever.

I was pleased with the Ghost in the Shell movie. I expected there were going to be creative liberties and that despite combining some material from both the two movies and Stand Alone Complex, it was going to have its own story. I feel it didn't stray too far from the source material, but it's still definitely a niche movie. I don't think cyberpunk has been popular since The Matrix, and Scarlett Johansson was cast so they could bring in more money. I didn't think she was bad, either, I honestly don't have a lot of qualms with the casting choices--I just don't care for that kind of thing, really. I just care about whether-or-not a movie works in execution, and I think this does, and this makes it one of the better Hollywood anime adaptions, like, ever. It's the best we're going to get, it looks like.

It's not for everyone, again, but it's still best to go in with an open mind. There's quite a bit of shout-outs to the original (they put in a basset hound!) as nods to the fans, but I think the audience can still follow along if they wish to pay attention. (Then again, the average audience member might not... "get this"... perhaps...)

I would think namely young adults, though it wouldn't surprise me if teens also bought those tapes in Japan, but the otaku demo usually tend to be in their adult years. Videos like these were catered to that group especially.

I see I've lost you. I think I know where to steer you towards in case you like to find out more about all this...

An okatu is an anime nerd right? Like a Trekkie to Star Trek?

Oh, I think I meant to put "heh", but yeah I am confused, anime seems to be more loose in its unofficial material

Whats this link about?

Also, I'm surprised people here like Inuyasha. I figured you'd guys would think its retarded (it is, but I like it)

So Ao Oni The Movie is LEGITIMATELY ART.
I would HIGHLY recommend that movie. It has a plot twist about 3/4s in or so that had me fucking dying and was somehow actually foreshadowed throughout the entire movie. Like holy shit.
Clarification: The animated movie of course

Well I am currently getting acquainted with Duraura at the moment and have just made a start on X2.

It's a show I did not expect to turn out the way it did and I honestly think I've fallen in love which such a batshit "hidden" world presented. It really does open as boilerplate as humanly fucking possible, then decides to just go "fuckit" after 3 episodes and throw you into the madness.

Also Shizuo.

Just....

You didn't even post the best one!

MSG Unicorn's opening narration pisses me off with it's length. The heavy-handed "WAR IS BAD, VEDDY VEDDY BAD GRR WAR" themes of the series as a whole don't help.

Welcome to the Universal Century. Enjoy your stay. The heavy handed anti-war message is basically UC's whole shtick. You better pull out now while you still can.

While X2 never quite reached the highs season 1 had in terms of animation and storytelling it's still pretty solid. You're in for a fun ride

As for me I'm 20 episodes into Cardcaptor Sakura and have been enjoying it. I can't say I'm really a shoujo/magical girl or CLAMP fan, but damn this series is fun, well animated(especially for a 70 episode series), cute without being too moe, and just plain comfy. Hopefully it can keep my interest for 50 more episodes + 2 movies because it's off to a good start.

Man, Cardcapter Sakura was one of the few animes aired on british terrestrial TV over here that wasn't Pokemon.

Then 9/11 happened and they just stopped airing it. Not even kidding.
