Edit: a friend of mine just reported me than the 74 episodes are on Netflix now woldwide
I was so happy when I saw that. Gives me hope that maybe we'll get a Blu-Ray release.

they introduce fucking Legato (wow, seriously? We're halfway through this shit and just NOW you introduce this fucker?) who apparently has psychic powers
I could've sworn Legato actually is somewhat of a psychic?

Not really, like in the manga he had these metallic wires that would implant into a person's brain and thus let him control them. Here, he's just a straight-up psychic, because he can bend an entire engine part of this huge ass desert ship.

Actually, there is one thing I noticed in Stampede. There is never any quiet moment, like both the 98 anime and Manga had moments where characters aren't in gunfights, we get to know them better etc. Here, it's just one action scene after another, there's literally no moment where the show stops.

Maybe I should give Jojo a chance at some point because I heard that it also revolves around characters figuring out each other's chuuni superpowers and how to actually deal with them. It's just that I have a hard time starting a franchise that already has so much content to catch up on.
Parts 1 and 2 self-contained, concise, with Part 2 being the best even if it's not really like the rest of the series.

Unfortunately if you want to understand anything after that in Jojo, you'll need to slog through Part 3 which drags on for way too fucking long.

The new Dungeon Meshi chapter is out and it's a blessed mix of the author's barely disguised fetish and a fever dream, it's amazing.
Man I really hope the anime adapts this well.

part 3 is the best part tho
It's probably better now that you can watch everything in one go, but during the time it was running it was glacially slow until they got to Egypt. Though it wasn't bad as 5 where every fucking fight is a two episode ordeal.

Watched the Kaguya Sama movie last night. Both bookings were fucking packed. Theater was howling at every joke, many of which arent tv friendly. I kept my head in the sand about this arc for years, but from what I know, it exceeded expectations. All I know is it made a shit ton of money, and when u guys can watch it, do, they dumped their hearts into it.

Kek, I forgot the movie was a thing.

Theaters now are more savvy about the success of anime films, but back when Battle of Gods first came out, theaters were taken aback by how many people were buying tickets. They thought it'd only run for a night and be a single room.

My local theaters had to open up two more rooms after the first night, it was so packed to the gills. They were not prepared.

But like could you blame them? Anime wasn't being shown in theaters if they weren't the newest Ghibli movie, it had been ages since Yu-Gi-Oh!: Pyramid of Light. Which was a disaster and killed U.S. movie distribution for anime for ten years.

Quite an accomplishment since Pyramid of Light isn't really anime. Sure, it's based on an anime, but the story and script were written by 4Kids... and you can tell, because that thing comes off like a fanfic written by someone who had Yu-Gi-Oh explained to him and just made a lot of assumptions.

Probably the biggest example is when it has Joey being unflinching in front of literal skeletons and zombies while Anzu (aka Taya or whatever her dub name was) runs around scared... the exact opposite of how they're always portrayed in canon materials. It would be like making a Lupin the Third movie where Jigen hates guns and Goemon is a porn addict.

Fuck Pyramid of Light.

Spergout over.

........

Switching to a new tack:

So.... are there other murder mystery/thriller anime besides Detective Conan and Kindaichi Casefiles? I've kinda gotten tired of the former one's specific quirks and the latter one (as previously mentioned) has a problem of fansubs and manga scanlations being rather iffy, especially for the earlier episodes.

I've already been through Danganronpa and Ace Attorney.

...... On that note, can anyone name actual anime horror?

The only one I'm aware of is a movie called LilyCAT. Most of the time though with anime, "horror" tends to end up being just another shonen fighting heroic fantasy thing (Demon City Shinjuku for example). LilyCat gets points in my book for at least actually being a horror movie.

(Stuff like Vampire Hunter D is fine to recommend, though that's "horror" about as much as Castlevania is).

I mean, the only murder mystery/thriller I can think of off the top of my brain is ID Invaded if you want to watch that, there's also Demon Detective Nuogami Neuro, but I'd suggest reading the manga because the anime kind of goes off the rails (which is saying something)

I'll second the recommendation for ID: invaded. Looking through the list of all the anime I watched it's probably the closest to what you're looking for. It takes a futuristic sci-fi approach to the murder mystery formula by letting detectives head into a VR mindspace of criminals.

Vatican miracle examiners may also be something to consider. It's about two priests investigating miracles and not strictly about solving murders but in practice it does tend to come up during their investigations and I found it to be one of the more unique seasonal anime I watched. I scrolled past various supernatural mystery/detective-style anime as well but I dunno if you'd be interested in that so I'll hold off on that.

Yes an absolute crap ton.
Frankly, it depends on what you want. I posted one that's got an anime announced recently that takes place in a Chinese imperial court.
Chinese cat poison detective got an anime! Ngl, I am kind of excited.

There's one airing its s2 now, InSpectre, that ones less about solving them and more about dissecting supernatural events and rearranging them into mysteries that can be solved.
Can Mushishi and Mononoke technically count as mysteries?
Re:Zero counts as a murder mystery dark fantasy isekai, but the anime cuts a lot of the whodunnit and dark part out. Each arc is basically the mc getting bumrushed by multiple things killing him and he has to figure out who did what and why, and has to rearrange them in order that they take out each other.

Anime horror is a bit more difficult, anime doesn't do it all to well.
There's Higurashi and Shiki and that's mostly where people stop.
