Fuck, delayed until next March. Ah well, gives me more time to get further with New Leaf before I abandon it and sink all my time into this.

So Nook is now in the phone business? Am I going to get 3am spam from him now?

A bit disappointed in the delay, but I'd rather wait a bit longer to get a better game. That teaser trailer was great.

The delay sucks, but the release day is like a month before my birthday so it means I can ask for the game as a birthday present and will only have to wait until a few weeks after it comes out to get it. Which is better than New Leaf, which I wanted for 6 months post-release back in 2012 and ended up buying on my Year 10 french class school trip to Paris on the final day with the last of my spending money.

I don't know how some traditional aspects are going to work, like the museum, but I'm seeing aspects from HHD being incorporated, like placing furniture outside and more precise furniture placement.I guess it's a bit much to hope for the return of the various venues and restaurants and the ability to customize them, though.

It's the exact opposite for me, my birthday is about three weeks before it comes out.

wish I could be more excited since I love AC but I'm lukewarm. all these games need is a cool town with weird animals living in it. all this time and money they've put in, why not just invest in making the animals smarter and making the town more alive? a done to death crafting mechanic is the new spin?

whatever we'll see how it turn out. but the delay makes me hopeful since someone in charge apparently thinks it's still rough.

I'm fine with a delay. Remember these wise words people

This.

I was playing the GameCube version the other day, and I noticed that the animals seemed much more intelligent, and lively than in the newer ones. They'd actually interacted with each other on regular basis. In New Leaf, I have yet to see that happen even once. They just ignore each other, and sometimes literally walk into each other.

I don't mind the crafting idea, I actually really like it. It's just that they should focus on fixing the animals themselves before they implement it.

Mr. Resetti officially confirmed before Isabelle

I'm not surprised they'd give him something else to do. I mean, he was optional to include with New Leaf out of concern that he was genuinely upsetting children instead of amusing them. But I don't want him to be overly kind, either.

On a somewhat similar note, I'd like to see more of the animals that haven't been used since the original game and it's remakes make a return, like how Bangle was brought back for New Leaf and Happy Home Designer. I wouldn't mind seeing some new species as well.

I honestly liked having multiple towns, but oh well I guess I can wait till I and my boyfriend live together to have 2 towns lol.

But I have a feeling we *might* get a choice in where we wanna have our new town, maybe the deserted island was one of a few choices? Maybe you gotta bring an abandoned countryside town back to life or an abandoned urban city back to the bustling place it was.

Maybe I'm just not autistic enough, but I have tried to play the Gamecube version of Animal Crossing, several times with no fun results.

I always hype myself up and think that "This, THIS, is the time I'm gonna start this game up and it's gonna be fun and I am going to GET it" But every time I get past the into. I'm kinda lost and the things it seems like I am supposed to do are incredibly dull. Of course, I had no idea at all what to do at first, but even after reading guides I was left scratching my head at where the fun is in this game. So, I'm supposed to go around collecting sea shells, digging holes, and APPARENTLY autistically keeping each "Screen" of the game with the appropriate number of trees and flowers and shit(can't remember what else but I know trees was part of it)
Also is there a more efficient way of making bells, or is it just supposed to be a slowfuck painful process that takes forever? It's just like I'm slowly collecting all these bells and digging holes and chopping/planting trees, all so I can eventually do....what? Move furniture around in my house?

Either I'm REALLY missing something incredible, or I'm just not wired for this game.

The game just ain't for you bruh. You have to be in the right mindset for this type of game where the goal is to just play house. I couldn't get into The Sims for similar reasons

Animal Crossing remains one of my favorite game series ever. I really adore that there's not a single bad AC game, because they all keep the same charm of past games and, even if they're not exactly on point, they at least retain the core thing that makes the series good (except Amiibo Festival, but we don't talk about that).

All of the games are pretty unique in their own respects (except for City Folk, which is basically Wild World DLC and which I will treat as such) and have some interesting differences, which I appreciate. Of all the Animal Crossing base games, I'd definitely have to say Wild World/City Folk is my favorite. I think it perfectly balances the friendliness and relaxing vibe of New Leaf with the esoteric and downright cruel style of Gamecube, and it doesn't sacrifice some of the spontaneous and weird charm of Gamecube like New Leaf did. Also, it has the best soundtrack out of all games, bar none. 7 am is basically a de facto Animal Crossing theme for me.

In terms of New Horizons, I'm praying it takes the game back to Wild World in terms of tone and musical style. New Leaf is an amazing game, but it felt very sanitized at times, with a lot of the NPCs having lost some of their original quirks and charms, and others being completely removed from the game altogether. I'd like to see a movement more in the direction of Wild World's approach, but without sacrificing the advancements that New Leaf made.
