I don't like his new lighting to be honest. The cold tones and blues of his current setup just give me an off impression. The skits have always annoyed me because usually Doug or Rob really suck at pacing their jokes. It doesn't help that the two clingers on aren't exactly that solid in terms of acting, insofar as what I've seen in the New Critic. Personally, he feels more like he's burned out and hates his fanbase to some degree, since their chimp out over him giving up the role to make Demo Reel forced him to go back to a character he was tired of playing. In the fanbase's defense, Demo Reel was one of the worst web shows I've seen in my life.

Speaking of the Critic, has he finally released those three game shows he promised for that Indiegogo gig he set up? You know, the one that made $90k? I'm asking since it's been over a year since he pledged that stuff, I have yet to see any episodes on that matter.

And speaking of Channel Awesome (in particular Brows Held High's Oancitizen), lemme demonstrate him being a callous ass :alog:

I spy a copy of "Naked Lunch" in the background. Infer from that what you will.

So there's been a rumor over the past few months that Mike Matei as a freakishly large penis
So Mike finally posted something about it

I've been a fan of the NC since his very first video, before he even had his own website, but I'll be the first to admit he's extremely hit or miss. He has a really irritating habit of stretching jokes out way too long. I wouldn't mind the yelling and carrying on so much if there weren't a lot of times where he'd do it for over a minute, sometimes longer. What's worse is that in many of his recent videos he's desperately trying to give the Demo Reel guys something to do, which is irritating and distracting. To be fair, though, some of his newer reviews are more analytical and don't try as hard to be funny, which is where Doug's talent really shines. Doug is a much better reviewer than he is a comedian, which is why I prefer his editorials, vlogs, and Disneycember videos.

As for the rest of Channel Awesome, I don't really watch a lot of what's on there. By far the best is Brad Jones, though, because he seems the most collected and focused. None of this wasting 3 or more minutes of screentime on stupid plots and skits and crap. And he has some of the most interesting subject material, too. Linkara can be a shit sometimes but overall I like him alright. Film Brain's okay too but there's nor a lot to say about him.

Outside of that, it's pretty much just JonTron and RedLetterMedia. I tried watching MrEnter but... Jesus Christ, at least a lot of the reviewers are putting up an act when they yell and scream over things. With MrEnter you really do get the sense that he is deeply, personally offended by things that happen in children's cartoons. It's kind of painful to watch. He's not all bad and sometimes brings up good points but most of the time I just want to tell him to calm the fuck down.

@100 Whole Bepis
I agree with everything you say, especially MrEnter - but I don't think it's just sad, it's pathetic. He is whining about things he can't control and couldn't control if he got anywhere near the business. IMHO, MrEnter is just about bad enough to be a fucking lolcow. Almost.

He already admitted to having Aspergers I believe, to nobody's surprise. He's eccentric enough to be a lolcow, but he has enough understanding of how the internet and trolling work to know when not to respond.

He's one lucky son of a bitch, then. I would have been happy to write a page for him here in a heartbeat, simply because of how much I hate this guy, honestly. Sorry if that sounds too A-Loggy, BTW. In short, I'm glad I haven't done so... Here's hoping I don't have to, either.

With Brad Jones, he actually did do an extremely long sketch for his review on the movie I Spit On Your Grave.

Yes but that is the exeception, not the rule. If you do a sketch, or make a review themed every once in awhile, or the theme really applies to the review, it makes sense. If you try and add 20 skits to one review, you become the Nostalgia Critic.

I disagree: real movie reviewers don't spoil the whole thing while nitpicking at things that bother them.

One of the better NC videos, I think, is Good Burger. It's not really a review since he spoils everything, including the movie's few funny jokes, but the review is entertaining.

Honestly, out of all the critics and gamers I see, possibly the ones I enjoy the most are AVGN (gotta feed that stupid humor bone somehow, plus James is a totally relateable guy IMO), JonTron (recently got into him and haven't regretted it), BrutalMoose and Caddicarus (both, while different in both humor and execution, both seem like really nice people). Oh, and Tacoman (for a cartoon character getting hyper angry over video games, it's actually pretty funny).

One reviewer I can't stand is MrEnter, but he seems like a really nice guy outside of his reviews. And while I do agree he may be over-offended by children's cartoons, then again I don't know much about him, so what do I know?

Another thang is that most internet critics/reviewers try has hard as possible to just review stuff they find bad (or think is bad because some subjectivity is present in any product's reception). It's quite uncommon for me to see stuff they merely find as mediocre, or even good. Because obviously I need to keep the fanbase sated with my fake as shit rage.

What JonTron does so well is find really small but potent ways to poke fun at the tropes of the "Internet reviewer" subgenre, if you look closely enough.

A lot of Internet reviewers have animal sidekicks. Jon has Jacques, a cybernetic killer parakeet.

A lot of Internet reviewers cover things under the prodding of supernatural circumstances. In one episode, a game falls out of the sky and lands on Jon's desk, and that's all the reason he needs to cover it.

A lot of Internet reviewers feature cameos of their peers to inject some life midway through the video. Jon remains unaffected.

And so on.

I really used to like MrEnter back in the days when he wasn't as popular as he is now. But now he just seems so... how can I put it? Emotional? I mean, in some of his earlier reviews he does get a little bit miffed at things like The Groovenians or Johnny Test, but tried to explain in a mature way about how the cartoon or episode doesn't work and how it could be better. But now all I see him do is whine about the same sort of things over and over again. In addition to this, I've noticed how MrEnter doesn't actually stick to the point he's trying to make. Take his latest Admirable Animation, for example, instead of focussing on the Spongebob episode works, he instead rambles on about who other Spongebob episodes DON'T work.

By the way - does anyobdy actually know where to find proof that MrEnter's fans practically nuked someone on tvtropes for giving MrEnter a negative review? I can't seem to find any info about it on MrEnter's ED page, or anything.

A brief update on MrEnter - he's starting to lose subscribers. When I unsubscribed he had about 68,800. Now he's at 68,268 subs. I guess word must be getting out or people must be realising the same things I did about MrEnter.
