Yeah he tries to be "controversial" but tbh he's just following what every other cartoon sperg on tumblr likes and dislikes- love Steven Universe bc it's "interesting" and "diverse", hate old Disney films bc they're racist and sexist and just old-fashioned, hate Veggietales since it's christian propaganda, and as we all know Christianity is evil, etc etc...

I did find this wonderful video some time ago which lambasted Steven Universe.
Of course the fanbase didn't take too kindly to it, so he made another video addressing their complaints (and by addressing I mean mocking).

Heart health has an effect, plus poor hygiene and skin care, not using the "right" products, not wearing sunscreen and all that shit. Plus genetics in general. A lot of shit goes into it apparently. How old is he?

I guess its going to be just as bad as any other internet personality driven movies. it will be the best Channel Awesome alumni film, but not that saying much since the others are worse then horse shit. might give a laugh or two, but will still be a overall mediocre film.

Some thoughts and observations:
- On the surface the movie's not very Channel Awesome-y and is better because of it, but that makes what in-jokes there are (read: fucking Santa Christ) stick out like a sore thumb.
- The acting is such a mixed bag, tonally, that it muddles the 'humor' a lot. Contrast, say, Brad's performance vs Rob's vs Dave's. Brad is doing intentionally-cheesy "bad acting" while Rob's going for broader, over-the-top schtick and Dave is so low-key he's almost playing it straight. It's jarring.
- Not to knock the acting completely: Brad is decent, and Dave is a surprisingly effective lead. Not that he's good per se, but better than I'd have expected from a non-actor who'd just had his first kid at the time of shooting.
- That mocked-up "YouToob" footage is painfully obvious and fake. I understand the need to avoid getting into issues of, like, copyright, but Christ, make it look like a real website.
- Whoever cut the trailer made a wise choice in leaving out that one scene Brad posted a while back with Doug overacting/flipping his shit on Dave. That was pure cringe.
- The color grading is hands-down the best thing about this movie. It's genuinely very pretty and, in my opinion, is the primary reason why the movie doesn't (visually) look like hot garbage. Though even then, it couldn't fix everything: the initial scene with Santa Christ is very cheap-looking and the one with Dave and Malcolm Ray in a garage(?) had piss-poor lighting.
- A lot of the shots are much wider than they should be and/or are off-axis in some way, so you get a lot of extraneous details in the frame which are distracting and add nothing. This is the primary detail, for me, that proves this has been made by amateurs.
- The movie overall will probably be very mediocre but I think, had its vision been a bit more defined and consistent, it could almost pass as your average direct-to-video content.
