Ooh boy, the Pokémon rant.
When I saw the angry comments on the video all saying:
"You're mean! You can't criticize Pokémon so harshly! And besides TMNT was also a fad that was everywhere in your time!!"
...I immediately thought:
"Here go the entries in his TV Tropes 'Dethroning Moment of Suck' page!!"
Next thing you knooooow...
"Heh. Knew it."

Oh, but he doesn't even know how to leave good enough alone.
He trolled Pokémon fans again in his Spy Kids and Scooby-Doo 2 reviews.
And from what I've heard, the Freddy VS Jason review.

Oh, and he tries a bit of damage control in his Jem and the Holograms review, where he at least tries to be respectful to the Jem franchise and fans (unlike with Sailor Moon), such as with the infamous "fan tribute videos" part of the movie, despite barely knowing the cartoon.
He says something like "You have your own cartoons that you like and that others don't like, and that's fine" while showing among others an image of Pokémon.

Uh, too little too late?

No wonder Chris Jones adores him...

EDIT: This Disneycember has been pretty boring tbh. I can't recall any funny review or anything memorable that he said. Also, I kinda wished he had tackled Moana and Zootopia just to hear him bashing Trump for another 20 minutes or compare Moana to Frozen (bc you know he will)

About the only "fun" I had was him on the verge of breaking down over Mulan II. And even that just felt sad. It's him mostly saying "This movie's okay" or "this movie's bad" with no real variation.

Pokemon... It makes me wonder if Doug's even played any of the games. Because the way he bashes the anime makes me wonder if he knows much of anything beyond it. And the fact he defends Transformers and Turtles (likely out of nostalgia) bugs me because when you really think about it, there's very little media many people unironically like about the franchises in question (Beast Wars and Animated for the former; the comics, 1990 movie and 2003 series for the latter).

Mark my words - the ONLY reason he defended Jem was to be contrarian because the 2015 movie was so horrifically panned. Doug Walker is the Cole Smithey of online "reviews". Again, he knows nothing about the franchise and bases his opinion on whatever the pop culture tumbleweeds in his brain are telling him.
 
He doesn't even get that the big reason pokemon is popular among older audiences is not because of the show, but because of the games themselves, that's what most people like. But he thinks the whole world is gay for Ash Ketchum and he's the only one who "sees" the light (when in reality he's blinder than a bat).

EDIT: Apparently he liked the Suicide Squad film and that's why he refuses to make a review of it. Double standards much?
 
I think the problem with Disneycember is that Doug is out of material. He's done the animated canon, the Pixar films, Ghibli, the MCU/Star Wars franchise, several of the live action films and the direct to VHS/DVD sequels. What is there to talk about next? Movies like Ten Who Dared? The theme park rides?

You know Emer Prevost, right? AKA He11sing920? The guy who does the "Reaction and Review" show on YouTube? Where he films himself watching a movie (which is offscreen), makes comments, and after finishing it, gives his review? Ex-friend of Asalieri?

So, he reviews an American-made underground sequel of Japanese horror film Guinea Pig...
He hates it and calls it cheap pretentious lame garbage.
Annnnnd...

The freaking director of the film itself comments on the video and goes apeshit!!

I find it really odd that Doug still views Pokemon as a fad even though it's been around since what, 1996? He still was in his acne filled teenage days when it first obtained popularity, how can he say that it will die any day now despite having millions of fans and just celebrating its 20th anniversary this year? Is it perhaps jealousy that the TMNT and Transformers fans are dying out? It's ironic that the shows he reviews like Adventure Time and Steven Universe, proclaimed by him as genius shows, will more or less fade into obscurity in a decade while Pokemon will live on and piss him off lol

Did he ever cover The Haunted Mansion because I think Film Brain may have? Also I guess he wouldn't cover the Pirates of the Caribbean movies unless he first talks about the Johnny Depp situation and risk having blowback for what he says.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point if Doug ran out of so much stuff, he would resort to reviewing Disney Channel Original Movies for Disneycember

Call it Walker's Razor: Never attribute to stupidity what can easily be attributed to a need for life-giving traffic. (Or attribute it to both, I don't care.)
 
He would still need to discuss the newest disney films (i'm still surprised he didn't at least mention Zootopia this year, considering previous years he gave the review of the current film of the year punctual).

It probably wouldn't hurt maybe to talk of more non-Disney animated films, if he wants to keep his shtick going and bring more awareness to good animated films out there (Kubo? The Last Unicorn? Secret of Kells?), but knowing him, he probably would only sperg for Secret of NIMH for a week straight and that's it.

Give it five years instead of ten. Like these kid show are more fads than anything. Remember how everyone went nuts for Gravity Falls and Phineas and Ferb back in the day? Now after they ended nobody remembers them aside from the hardcore spergs.

Well I just so happened to watch American Guinea Pig quite a while ago. I hated it. It was trying really hard to be disturbing but that aspect was undone by the dubbing. The movie is just a faux snuff film where two women are dismembered by two guys in masks. That's it.

And if I had to make a guess, the budget for American Guinea Pig was probably closer to 5 or 10 grand. So the reviewer wasn't too far off.
 
I saw La La Land today. And it dimly occurred to me that another problem I have with these so called critics is their lack of interest in a less-mainstream film catered to a slightly more Oscars-oriented audience. They always review mainstream popcorn flicks or children's cartoons. But when presented with an actual movie for grown adults, they're always silent. How on earth can you call yourself a critic if you don't dip your feet in the water in other areas? Real critics care about movies. All movies. Not just the typical action crowdpleasers or sappy kiddie film.

Take Doug for instance. He's always harping about complex themes that would make a simple child's film or show 10000% better. But since when have you seen him actually explore complex adult themes from something that isn't animated or filled with super heroes or ninja turtles or whatever?

This is why Brad will always be the better critic. He goes out and sees pretty much any movie.

He tried once reviewing The Tree of Life, he was utterly confused by it.
 
Doug also tried reviewing The Cell and he completely missed the point of the film. It's supposed to be unsettling and weird because it shows what goes on in a serial killer's mind and what makes them tick.
