It's all about scale. Primer is another one that had a budget of $7K. Found footage is unsurprisingly cheap to film, that's why there's been an explosion of them all over the place especially in the no-budget cheapies.

Cannibal Holocaust (the real father of the Found Footage movie and amazing film as well) had a budget of $100K because they were shooting in a 3rd world shit hole and could pay the crew for nothing. It's an incredibly impressive-looking movie considering its budget.

Those are filmmakers who had a kind of grit and resourcefulness that's foreign to kids like Linkara who thanks to the largesse of the internet have it comparatively easy. Don't get me wrong, filmmaking's also become cheaper and more accessible since Cannibal Holocaust thanks to the proliferation of digital hardware and software, but Cannibal Holocaust as done by Linkara or Brad Jones or anyone like them would have still cost $500,000+ and taken twice as long to produce. They can't effectively budget nor manage systems. They're the least qualified people on Earth to ask for crowdfunding.

Oh yeah, it blew my mind to look up the Eli Roth-produced film After Shocks (which wasn't very good but it has some good gore) was shot on a Canon 7D camera. Those cameras cost about $1-3K with accessories. Completely fooled me because I thought for sure it was shot on a more high end digital rig and those tend to cost closer to $50-100K.

God of the Indie film scene Monte Hellman shot a movie on one of those Canon cameras and the results are great.

But I disagree about Brad, the man isn't a swindler and has had a history of making no budget films (and most of them are surprisingly good, particularly the film "Cheap").

Brad Jones joins the Kickstarter crowd. I have mixed feelings. I actually bought the Cinema Snob movie and thought it was pretty good for what it was. I look at it as just an indie low budget film and aside from its length it's pretty good. It's smart of him to involve the Walkers to get that money from Autists but I feel like just their presence alone will poison the well. It could turn out to be great if Brad and co. can keep the Walkers at bay from the creative process.

Oh boy, a religious spoof film. What a totally not done to death idea. I know we all love Brad but this is just lame.

Can't be worse than the crossover events they used to do.
There's a very short list of things that are.

Even if this was originally Brad's idea, I can't see it becoming anything besides obnoxious Nostalgia Critic skits and overused dead jokes with Doug Walker's face in every shot.

Not even Brad could save that train wreck of a gameshow. He's about one of the only 'internet critics' I can actually watch but he's not a miracle worker.

This is anecdotal, but a lot of the comments I've seen are people turned off by The Walkers and their schtick, but conflicted by their respect for Brad. I would just torrent the thing if its an in-jokey mess of a film.

I also realized that Allison Pregler is in this too. It'll be interesting if her & Doug share scenes.

Unlike the Walkers, Brad doesn't seem like the type of person to run up $50k+ in debt and start a crowdfunding campaign to make slapdash garbage as the ostensible reason.

Has anyone mentioned Spax3 yet? He was the only tard I knew who was legitimately angry at the video games he reviewed (look at his Sonic Genesis review). Everybody else are either faking it obviously through bad acting or go "meh" and don't really give a shit.
I mostly know him as the focus of fellow cow 03bgood's "final" video:

Common sense would tell you that this project would have trouble meeting its fundraising goal (not that it matters since the parties receive all the funds raised regardless of whether or not they reach their target) given how prominently the Walkers feature in the pitch video after their last brush with crowdfunding imploded so horrendously. Lucky for them that common sense is not a shared trait amongst their fanbase.

EDIT: How long did it take the Walkers and Linkara to hit their base goals when they went the IndieGoGo route? It seemed like those secured their lowest requests pretty quickly. This new project seems to be going much, much slower.

Really, it probably would have worked better had the walkers either took a backseat and just produced the film. Or better yet, not be involved at all and just let Brad do his own thing. Because as it stands, the film's probably going to turn out shit (assuming it gets funded within the 43-44 day period, that is).

Considering how heavily they are featured in the beginning of the video, it would be very easy to think that this is a new project from the Walkers rather than Brad Jones and his crew.
I have a solid feeling that production will be a bitch since Doug is probably trying to take it over completely.

Riddle me this: for all of Doug's talk about how kids deserve better whenever he reviews a bad kids film, why didn't he try going into screenwriting so that he might actually be able to write these "better" movies?

Because deep down he knows his writing is crap? Either that or he really doesn't care. Yeah that one.

That would require effort, independent thought and creativity - all things he's terminally afraid of. Also, if you've watched the CA anniversary movies you've seen his talent as a screenwriter (or lack thereof) first hand. I think we're very fortunate he never took that route.

Eh, one should be free to sperg without having to worry about being challenged with that old chestnut of "well, you do something better if you know so much!" Besides, after seeing the anniversary movies and PQH, I don't think anyone here would want to sit through the result of said hypothetical challenge.

Side note: Back when I was a regular NC watcher many moons ago, I recall Doug Walker doing a commentary (I forget off hand if this was a commentary track to an episode or a dedicated video) in which he disclosed that he'd be afraid to collaborate with a Hollywood studio or entity because of how they'd try to alter his vision. Thank Christ we have the purity of Kickassia to show us Doug's unfettered capabilities.

Studio meddling often changes a film for the worse, but in Doug's case I think it would absolutely be for the better.

Also, he may say he's afraid of working with a Hollywood studio, but I reckon if one of them offered him a movie deal he'd jump right at it. Then blame the studio for meddling when the product turns out shit.
