Did somebody introduce Noah to heroin?

Also, whenever his fans massively dogpile on him he reacts really passive-aggressively -- hence that nitpicker character or the apology for his shitty let's play. Like, the way Doug acted both of those times was so fucking insincere.
Respectfully disagreed, if only because Linkara's more of a massive hypocrite about it.
Example: many complaints r.e. fetishization in comics are valid, but not coming from someone who gets off to hermaphrodite rape in fanworks. That'd be akin to, say, Todd secretly being a GGer on a smurf account, but we don't have evidence of that sorta thing yet, so at the very least I give him some props for not trying to have his cake and eat it too.
I duuno, when Doug did a commentary on that let's play, it felt sincere IMHO.https://youtube.com/watch?v=dmaiFpEZAGA
This thread doesn't really read like a Lolcow thread at all since it seems that a large part of is side chatter, so I think this topic is better serving it's purpose in Multimedia.
If there are Lolcow-y individuals in the critics community, I'd suggest making a more pointed directed thread that's about one person because right now this is more like discussing their works as consumers instead of observing these people as lolcows.
Doug Walker is a cynical businessman who will adopt whatever position secures ad revenue. Suggesting otherwise is retarded.
Fair use is as close as he gets to political on camera and only because that threatens his business.
Tbf nothing wrong with that. Plenty of forms of media try their best not to offend one side or the other too much. Considering this shit is his job it's hardly the worst way to handle things.Doug almost strikes me as the type who's aware he's got fans on both extreme ends of the political spectrum and knows that pandering too heavily to one over the other would be a potential death knell. The other guys can get away with it, since for some, they still have -or have since gone back to having- day jobs, but he can't really afford to go balls-to-the-wall political. But I'm probably giving him too much credit.
(All bets are off if Trump gets elected to the Presidency, of course)
Linkara can get away with it somewhat, since some comics are pretty political in nature/theme (particularly Marvel-based ones) so it's unavoidable when it comes to, say, anything related to Frank Miller; but his political opinions are marred by his own hypocrisies and paper-thin reasoning.

I agree. When he actually puts effort into his traditional reviews, he has some good stuff in them. One of my favorites is his review of Howling 2 starring Reb Brown and Christopher Lee. With things like the Ultima Retrospective, he has really good insight into the games. And good on him for actually doing every game in the series, all for the buildup to Ultima 9.The hilarious thing is it's actually not hard to stem that blood loss by just half-assing content. While his traditional reviews were fun, I reckon he'd have enough fans that'd like a movie review vlog or Counter Monkey as well that just releasing them every couple of weeks would do fine, with a couple of actual reviews every now and then.
I'm not surprised they also review Pony crap.

I know that a few other people on CA are/were bronies too (though I don't know if they're still with the site). I think Walker himself even included references to it in some of his reviews.
Actually I think he said in one of his commentaries that he thinks the show is fine it's just not for him. This is another instance where Walker genuinely hates the show and fandom with a passion, but constantly references them in a rather positive albeit "cutesy weird" light so that he can keep on to his fanbase. He's pretty much a whore at this point.

When your livelihood is based on getting views something with such a big, internet fanbase as MLP is just smart business. This is another instance where Walker genuinely hates the show and fandom with a passion, but constantly references them in a rather positive albeit "cutesy weird" light so that he can keep on to his fanbase. Honestly, kind of impressed by this. Becoming some kind of hub for nerd shit youtube videos would be a decent plan. Not sure about the financials obviously but probably way more successful than any of the movies they made.Note that said MLP review is by Dena, who's been with the site since its early days, but has never really stood out.
Did you know that Chris Stuckmman and Gaming Wildlife have their videos hosted on CA? Shows that CA still has popular shows, albeit ones that still have followings regardless of the site.
