He's worse than Mr. Enter on all levels.

I swear I brought this fucker up before, too - regardless, there's no argument here that this guy really needs to stop talking. I've seen almost all of his stuff, and GODDAMN do I regret it, despite my high tolerance of his voice and views on TV in general. It doesn't help matters that he likes to do skits as well (they suck, as you might have asked). Yeah, someone with a better voice and more charisma could do better than this, in my opinion.

I'm rambling at this point, however - All I can ask is this, now: Who thinks this Rowdy C Moore is lolcow material (provided the voice alone is enough to seal the deal...)?

I remember him saying once how much he hated Elmyra's voice and found it obnoxious

One of the most common symptoms of autism is a complete lack of self-awareness
Thing is, while Elmyra's voice is annoying (not the worst I've heard, but it can get grating). His is not much better. Hell, I'd say its a combination between CWC and Lewis. But with even less control over his volume.

As for him being lolcow material. I'm split. On the one hand, him overreacting to cartoons (and more so than Enter) is hilarious in retrospect and his opinions are downright stupid. On the other hand, he seems to fall into the same pool as Enter and them. So unless he's like ZSponge or AnimatedJames and their stupidity or has a fetish/got his ass handed to him by another site. I can't classify him as real lolcow material. More like honorary.

See Doug try to justify his skits and other new additions that have turned off much of his former fanbase. He says his audience should just accept that he's changed instead of "sticking to the old formula".

Though to be fair, I didn't care for Christmas with the Kranks either.

For Christ's sake, it's like he lurks here (especially with the line about the forehead during the flashback to him getting picked on). The reason people disagree with his sketches is that a lot of them aren't funny and are forced, and the analysis can be really obvious. If they were funny and he wasn't unconsciously coming off as pretentious then it would be funny. I mean, sometimes when he adds plots, they can be really good, like the one for Son of the Mask, or the Shining, or The Wicker Man, or Planet of the Apes. Those actually made me laugh. Other times it's "so-and-so has forced me to review this." Oh look, a cutaway gag, gotta use Malcolm and Tamera somehow, if it works for Family Guy...

He made it so that he now has two weeks to write, film, and make a review. He should use that to, you know, actually write jokes that work.

To summarize, it's not the format that's the problem, it's the content.

The other problem is that most of the material that may have worked back in his old format, don't really translate so well into the new one. Like the randomness or disjointed cameos.

Seriously?

They're just him over-thinking shit or answering stuff that had already been answered.
Labeling the editorials with the Nostalgia Critic brand is just dumb. For years, Walker has insisted that the NC is a character he uses, one that allows him to express opinions in extreme ways. So what does it mean when you use the 'character' to give a measures analysis on something (I'm speaking comparatively, of course)? It just strikes me as an embarrassing way to have a Nostalgia Critic video every week instead of making his audience wait TWO WHOLE WEEKS for a review. However, given the number of viewers that jumped ship during Demo Reel, I guess I shouldn't blame him.

I think the part that really twists the blade for me is how he up & says that we'd actually hate it if he went back to his old methods of conducting a review, when the irony is that this was his most watchable review in years.

You know what though? He is right, we would hate him going back to his old style & it would only be because he'd do everything in his power to make his old style as unwatchable as possible, just like how he tried to in this very review.

In fact, I'd be interested in him just straight up remaking his old reviews, with the same script and everything, as if he had modern equipment when he first made them. I'd be legit curious as to whether they didn't pale in comparison or if they'd be welcome replacements. He once teased the idea with his first review but only did it to prove a point in a shittier review.

Also, his new pure-skit reviews are shit. The only people who "like" them are his white knights.

Let me just say off-hand that I think Mr Enter forgets that childhood consists of much more than just a bunch of TV shows. Interestingly, he said that as a child he was bullied, he was lonely and his parents weren't great at parenting. Whether all of this is true, I don't know, but I can see why he'd take refuge in fantasy to escape all that.

AVGN is way better when he's just James.
AVGN is very hit and miss these days. I enjoyed his Christmas special last year, where he released a bunch of shorter reviews over the span of December. Those videos really felt like his older ones: Short, to the point, and not weighed down by any retarded side characters or pointless skits.

That being said, this year's Christmas special isn't really doing it for me. I mean, who really gives a shit about bad cover art?

That's not the AVGN special, that's a side project. There's an actual AVGN episode coming out in a week or so.

As an aside, have you seen the Sea-man and Crow reviews? They're were fucking gold.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say maybe it didn't for him.

I know it's supposed to be just "art" reviewing, but on some of those episodes, just a little preview of the actually gameplay would do alot. But i guess that would boil it down to be regular reviews.

Also, anbyody remembering the "Dead Horse Interchange"? It's a shame it never really took off. I only remember vaguely that Ebeeto were the only one getting unique content, like the henatiphobia episode. Damn that was funny.

I just want to say this. If the new Channel Awesome website is meant to better represent the CA crew as a whole and not just Doug, why is it that Doug's different shows are split up into their own pages while everyone else has to be under one? I mean, why should I search through the Snob's entire library just to follow my tradition of watching both 80's Dan Christmas specials?

The Cinema Snob has his own site, use that rather than giving Mike Michaud money to buy COWADOODY DLC.

For this reason I never even go to Channel Awesome.
