Well, another reason why the project probably didn't get funded is that the money was going towards an animation test to try to sell the idea of a Dragon's Lair movie to a studio or big shot investor, not the movie itself. I love classic Don Bluth, but I find it hard to believe that there is a studio out there willing to pony up $70 million for a hand drawn feature adaptation of a 30 year old game that is remembered more than it is played, particularly if it is to be directed by a 78 year old man who hasn't directed a movie in 15 years, and who hasn't directed a good one in 25 years.

I remember it being more a computer-rendered choose your own adventure than a real game. It was certainly a fairly amazing use of the technology available at the time, but I doubt it would stand on its own as a game at this point.

The whole "OMG Don Bluth in an NC episode" turned out reeeeally cringey. Makes me wonder if Doug felt it too, that it just turned out flat, Don doesn't have the energy, rightfully so.

I went to a film camp in 2014 because I like to make videos, and there were these two guys there that would talk about movies that the Nostalgia Critic reviewed, but they would literally recite word for word things Doug has said about them. They talked about the Tom and Jerry movie and said "They made Tom and Jerry talk, doesn't one of the 10 commandments say not to do that?" which is basically word for word something NC said in his review. They seemed like they got all their opinions about movies from the Nostalgia Critic.

At least I myself know in the future these guys won't get as far as they think they will.

I'm glad that when I went to the camps I did, I never had to put up with that nonsense.

Whelp, it's better than his other video game reviews. It's actually semi-watchable.

I remember saying a while back I thought Nash's Doctor Who reviews sucked, but they're nothing, nothing compared to the Last Angry Geek's. A common complaint I see here is that these reviewers aren't actually reviewing, they're just providing a synopsis with lame jokes thrown in. However, at least when they're summarising they throw in some kind of commentary or a joke every few seconds rather than a straight plot synopsis.

With the Last Angry Geek it's pretty much just him reading the Wikipedia plot summary in a bored monotone. No jokes, no commentary, just description. Every so often the review will screech to a halt so he can throw in an unfunny skit before returning to his monotonous describing. At the end he'll come up with a poorly thought out conclusion that comes completely out of left field and doesn't connect to anything in the proceeding ten minutes. Even when I liked Channel Awesome I still thought his reviews were pretty poor.

Best thing I can say about them is they're short, unlike Doug's which go on for hours now (at least it seems like it).

About the Cinema Snob drug rumor. I don't really believe Brad has a cocaine habit (it's possible, but I don't get that vibe). However, I thought it was very strange how he dropped A LOT of weight in a very short period of time. It just felt like, to me, over night in his videos he was very thin.

I'm guessing the divorce had an effect on him.

Medicine to treat epilepsy and seizures can cause weight loss so that could explain it.

That could be from stress, or he could just have that gene and it's his time to go bald. Though some seizure meds can cause hair loss too. So maybe he was put on new medication that had a lot of side effects that fucked with him? That seems more probable than half of people's "He has the cancer of the cocaine" theories.

He was fat for a while and dropped a lot of weight. Probably kept to his diet since.

Out of curiosity, does anybody here think that Totalbiscuit would be a far, far better 'angry' critic than most people featured here? I know he's big on analytical journalism, but I find the times when he just lets rip and utterly shreds a bad game to be almost side-splittingly funny, vastly more so than anything AVGN or any twerp from TGWTG puts out.

Though I agree he'd be better, I think that the whole angry critic shtick's been so heavily worked that it'd be best if he just kept it to an occasional thing. It'd probably still be a funny format, if not for how over-saturated it all got.
