Comedy can include references to stuff, but good writing will make the joke funny even if you don't get the reference. Classic Simpsons had tons of this stuff, and I remember when I watched the series first run a lot of those references went through my head, but they still made it funny.

Dobson is so used to putting lame references in his comics, he thinks that's the only way one can enjoy referential humor. ("See?! It's funny because Korra and Asami are reenacting that scene from that anime! It's a reference!")

Nah, he doesn't live with his parents. They live in Massachusetts and he lives in Minnesota. He doesn't have any nieces or nephews.

Imagine feeling smug that a child was mistaken about something in a cartoon. What a fucking waste of skin Dobbers is.

I'm trying to think of who Dobbers could "ship" in the Tintin oeuvre. Bianca Castafiore and her maid?

As long as the kid found it funny who gives a fuck. Good on you kid you didnt "get" the joke so you fitted your own reference in place and made it funny which is something dobbie fails to do with his comics.
Not thats its worth getting upset about cause i doubt any of the events actually took place.

Don't get me wrong, but I sometimes get the feeling you know quite a lot about Dobbers, especially the "No nephews" part or the fact his parents live in Massachusetts. How come? I guess you just diligently collect little bits of information about him throughout this thread?

I guess we all come across something we watch like a show which makes us laugh with some joke that we might not get entirely, but still are amused by. It's really unremarkable. Sometimes you watch something and they make an off-hand reference to something you don't know, but it's still working as a joke. Then, when you happen to come across whatever was referenced, everything clicks into place and you can enjoy the joke even more.

What I'm saying is this: The kid might some day stumble across the X-files, watch that Simpsons episode again, realize what the joke was actually about and appreciate the episode even more.
Dobs could have pointed the kid towards x-files and set this very thing in motion. But nah, fuck that. Time to be a know-it-all jerk.

Dobbie details are easy to find, once u know were he went to school you just work backwards.
And before he became the cow he is today he put a whole bunch of personal details on the net. His DA journal was a good source.

Seriously though, although getting references wrong like that is subject to mockery a lot, there's a strange joy in actually knowing references in reverse. It's kinda like going into Pulp Fiction and picking out bits parodied in one of The Simpsons episodes (including the format of serveral loosely connected happenings with many different characters). Kinda helps give a new appreciation for stuff you've seen before or just "oh so THAT'S what (x) was referencing". Sometimes it'd even pretty funny.

Of course, being a snob despite also being a slob, Dobson wouldn't look on any of that as valid. Only his way of living is acceptable and if you didn't live like him, the balding fat man who claims PTSD from a spray bottle, gets bullied by nine-year-olds and kisses up to people who will never notice him will pity you!
 
Now where could Dobson have access to a 12-year-old that is watching The Simpsons and would actually converse with him?
If any of it's true, I'm betting he overheard it on a bus.

But how creepy. And we already know 9-year-olds trigger him, and he's a pussy, so I really don't think he directly interact with an older child. Creepy.

Mrs MMX had never seen the star wars series till last year (i know shocking) but still found the family guy and robot chicken parodies funny.
I never felt the need to point out that she hadnt earned the right to laugh or was laughing for the wrong reasons because thats a thing an arsehole would do and that laughing with people is one of lifes pleasures.
Fucks sake dobbie what is your aversion to people having fun.
I keep questioning what he thought to gain by posting this. It just comes across as smug....its not informative or funny, it wont win him allies and likely just pissed his few SJW buddies off.

Because he has none at all. Dobson has wasted every opportunity and joy in life and by now is just a bald, fat, ugly (on in- and outside) middle aged white man who doesn't even get nookie from a prostitute. And he does not at all want anybody else having it. This is the kind of person who probably only gets joy out of reading about the misery of others by this point.

Dobson just seems more and more pathetic the more I find out about this guy and read his tweets. Before, I simply saw him as a guy who thinks way to highly of himself and his mediocre art.

Now, I see a giant misogynistic manchild who blocks little kids on the Wii U, gets upset over a cartoon character fearing a towel, claims to have PTSD over getting sprayed by a water bottle, and talks about how badly women are being treated while at the same time trying to speak on their behalf because he thinks he knows better. (Like that whole Korrasami thing with the lesbian).

I'd feel bad for him if he didn't act so smug and self-righteous and constantly running his mouth off on Twitter and saying some of the most cringe worthy and ignorant things about serious topics.

I honestly don't know how anyone could stand being around this guy.

I've thought the same thing. But as long as children and "Special" people exist, this is still going to keep happening. People won't stop asspatting and standing up for him as long as those people exist.
 
Bragging about feeling superior to a 13 year old kid because you get references to old as fuck Simpsons episodes is a new milestone in Dobson being an insufferable douche.
