Don't necessarily have an issue with one nation buying another's territory as long as both nations and the people impacted accept it. Probably could have just sold Crimea instead of just lease Sevastopol to Russia and call it a day for the time being. That's what the US did with Mexico to get all of the Southwest (and so did probably most of the colonial powers) so it's not really unprecedented.

Not ideal but sometimes you've got to bite the bullet and rebuild your strength first if you want to take back territory you think is yours. If the Chinese had gotten impatient and tried to reclaim Hong Kong or Macau in the 50's, they would have gotten smoked.

Yeah, no issues there, like the American purchase of Alaska. A contract is a contract.

Problem is that American influence in Ukraine goes back at least to the early 2000's, any attempts by Russia at buying out Ukrainian territory would most likely resulted in a backlash from NATO and a PR shitstorm, sanctions, cries about genocide, the usual.

How would it be Germany's? They lost. The USSR, Britain, and France were the victors so they got to set the rules going forward.

Kinda always suspected France being at least partially responsible for the fucked state of things. Just seems like a French thing to do.

It's more about who created the conditions to allow the commies to take over and for Western Europe to go gay and retarded. Honorable mentions to Austro-Hungary and the Ottomans, as well. Yes, I did mention before that American merchants sold arms and fuel (occasionally to both sides), but their involvement in the actual war, as in fighting the enemy, was minimal at best.

Without those who would take those weapons and use them to defeat the enemy, all of America's manufacturing is useless. Plus let's face it, back then most Americans were happy to sell their production to whoever buys them, be they German or Soviet. Countless American companies supported the Germans, like IBM.
