I've thought this season was pretty good, except for Episode 21 "The Guardian" at the end I had to look up to see if the joke was that an AI wrote it.
 
I find a lot of the newer episodes are extremely hit/miss

I have to admit though I do enjoy the trend of doing more elseworld style episodes and just playing with the characters like dolls in new settings. It feels fun, instead of just forcing a status quo for episodes.

To me most the episodes are still hits with a couple misses each new season. What really misses more often then not now tho is the B story they have really gotten lazy with the B stories. Sometimes it’s seriously just like half the family doing a slow motion race in the living room. It’s the only show I can think of that’s been on for so long and still so funny. A lot of times I’m kind of bored with a new episode when I come back to it a few times I enjoy it a lot more. An older one that is a good example of that is the night hawks hideaway episode I thought it sucked and now it’s one of my favorites.
 
I just came here to say, I recently watched the Season 19 ending, “What Great Advancements!” and it was so amazing. It’s not a normal episode for them, but it works on so many levels. I didn’t know where they were going with it at first, and then bam! Oh, they invented voices…and then color.

It’s just so hilariously stupid a concept, and yet it left me smiling. I love this show.

It was really fresh too. Like this show could give up and just coast like a lot of shows at this stage, but that was really clever and fun.

It reminded me of something like The Hudsucker Proxy which wouldn’t stand out to me as an American Dad thing, but they pulled it off.
