My life in Amber’s shoes.

I don’t want to come off as PLing or auti, but I have experienced this. I gained weight, and ignored scratches on my legs, until the inevitable leaking started. Eventually the cellulitis combined with a lung infection and I finally sought medical advice (I was embarrassed about my condition).

I woke up in hospital 4 days later, on oxygen and morphine. I was a mass of ulcers from my ankles to just under my butt cheeks, and dressing changes meant that I had to have Endone before and after to bear it. I was also on bags of IV antibiotics.

It took 4 months for them to heal. During that time, I had rehab and when I left was given an exercise plan and diet. It was a shit of a wake up call but I’m now fitter and healthier - and paranoid about any knock to/itch on my legs.

I was nowhere near Amber’s size, so how she can be getting away with no cellulitis or pain is beyond me.

I wouldn't be surprised if she did, at least from her thighs. Archimedes tells us (in a way, via his theorems on buoyancy), that since there really isn't anything to apply the upward pressure against the gravitational pull of fluid seeking the easiest path in her body means: she's like a drip hose, leaking everywhere. If we open a new path of easiest resistance to that fluid by her cankles cracking open, it'd be like she was walking around in soaking wet socks all the time on the rare occasions she hauls her 600 pound body to its feet to hit the head or raid the fridge.

Damn, gorl. Glad you got through that! One good infection is going to land Big Al in the hospital. She'd likely wind up an amputee, since she doesn't address her diabeetus.

I've never met a fitness buff that is completely okay with their partner being unhealthy. If Wipey is real, she's definitely gonna be in and out once she realizes Amber isn't putting in the effort. Unless she's trying to grift and why would you move to Kentucky for that when she's clearly more than willing to send money her way?

I hope she streams tonight and does something similar to this. I want her to double down on her confidence in decision making like she usually does in these situations.

I find the more she communicates just how much she trusts her own intuition and decision making, the funnier it is when it all crumbles.

She is so ripe for exploitation that it's should be scary, but she cannot bare the idea of being wrong. We just don't know meeting strangers on the Internet like she does.

It's interesting that this is pretty much the only diagnosis she doesn't admit to. Even when Becky finally admitted to her diabetes diagnoses which gave her an opportunity to one up her. While she certainly has some classic signs of T2D (and every other classic obesity commodity) we still have no confirmation that she has it. There is no way she hasn't been tested for it, and it's a very easy disease to diagnose with clear cut blood glucose limits. Even if (and it's a big IF), her blood glucose levels weren't tested everytime she went to an ER, she was definitely tested in the raft of tests she was given at her most recent bariatric clinic appoint. A1C is always included in the initial blood panels done by bariatric surgeons. It's understandable why she wouldn't want to pay out for a sleep test, even though she's been told she has sleep aponea, but she would be fully aware of what her most recent A1C is. Maybe she hasn't yet crossed that magic 6.5% yet...or she hit it the first time and refuses a second test that would confirm a diagnosis that would require medications she knows she can't afford. She has admitted that she's not kept up with her blood tests because they're expensive. Why she has always chosen to not get decent health insurance knowing she has significant and expensive health issues is beyond me, but I'm not au fait with US medical insurance.

People have been diagnoseeeeen our gorl with beetus since day one on YT and she has always, ALWAYS denied it. Now Amber has been known to occasionally lah in the past (shocking I know) but even for her to have to admit to being diabetic would be one almighty climb down and she just knows the Haydurs are waiting for it like salivating dogs, She'll deny it until she takes her last wheezing breath.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common childhood cancer and treatment usually includes high dose steroids. Not only do they cause fluid retention, they also dramatically increase appetite. Nobody wants to say no to the ravenous cancer kid who wants a third bag of Cheetos.

Usually, the weight and excess fluid come off as soon as the steroid treatment ends.

Edited to add that @LetiCo is also correct. Many brain tumors, either primary or metastisized, are "treated" with steroids. They don't actually treat the cancer, but they reduce the brain swelling and inflammation caused by its growth. DIPG, or "diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma", which the previous poster mentioned, is an especially heinous, extremely aggressive primary brain tumor of childhood, most often diagnosed in children aged 5-9 years. It's inoperable and terminal upon diagnosis, with mean overall survival of under a year. Because of its location within the pons (part of the brainstem), there isn't really anything that can be done to fix it. Steroids and high dose radiation are used temporarily as palliative care. The pons controls basic functions like heart rate, breathing, and swallowing. A DIPG - or, to use the more current nomenclature, an H3K27M-mutant midline glioma - rapidly robs a child of all physical abilities before it kills them by shutting down essential bodily functions. It's a grim one.
