Can a Kiwi more versed in dog vet care guess if 3 hours sounds right for removal of that big lump on her hip? I haven't had a dog or cat in many, many years but given her age and the area that was being operated on wouldn't they have kept Twinks for observation before calling Amber to let her know Twinkie was ok? I don't want to believe that she'd lie about her oldest and most beloved animal but 3 hours between the drop off post and the update doesn't feel right (:_(

So maybe you'll be happy to hear her ebegging using twonk only resulted (So far) $386 on cameo. I was expecting more and her takeaway $190. still only 20 minutes of work so it definitely chaps my ass.

I suspect she got more in personal donations. She's also probably comparing the different price levels and will settle on a different price soon.

It doesnt sound right, twonk is like obese and the tumor is huge but ambers also "poor". I have a sneaking suspicion shes doing the bare minimum for that dog and "no no its okay"-s away anything remotely resembling another charge like the dog being monitored after surgery. Twonks up and around and amber absolutely will not spend more than the bare minimum. A normal heartbeat and some eye contact and its back to the pig sty, fur momma amberlynns gotta get to applebees, shes hongry.

It’s not right. Not trying to power level but have had a few pets need surgery over the years and it’s always been the same no matter where I am.

For an an actual under anesthesia surgery they take your pet in at the same time in the morning (around 8-9 am) and they go home at the end of the day. (4-5 pm) It’s not like you drop off your pet right before the surgery and pick them ip right after.

Everyone has a little kennel they stay in before and after surgery where the staff will monitor them and do the pre-surgery bloodwork etc. An older dog would need to be monitored for several hours after surgery because they can have a lot of complications. They want to make sure they go potty and can walk. Things Amber can’t do btw.

For a lump that size she would end up having quite a large scar as they will need to make sure they get clean margins. It’s not like a quick lump removal on the skin, they have to really get in there. One of my dogs had a quarter sized tumor and her scar was like 6 inches long, it was gnarly. Lots of aftercare.

So no I don’t think Twonk had surgery and if she did Amber won’t be able to properly take care of her when she gets home.

I worked in a vet clinic as an assistant briefly. Mostly just cleaning and looking after the animals post-surgery so take it with a grain of salt. I also don't know if it works differently in the US. But all the animals that were scheduled for surgery that day would be taken in in the morning. There would be a short window for checkups and minor things, and then surgery would start. If nothing went wrong during the operation it could easily have been a fairly quick surgery, but then there would have been at least 1-2 hours aftercare to make sure Twink was awake, alert, and responsive at least. She would probably be fed and they'd make note of whether she'd toileted.

It was an all day routine of taking animals in > checkups > surgery > pets that could go home would be released at the end of the day. So it would likely be a good 6-8 hours if everything went well. The vet I worked under would call owners and tell them how the surgery on their pet went and give them an estimate of when they could be picked up if they were recovering well.
It has been the same with my own pets too. Vet calls and gives you a time that you can go and pick them up, usually in the evening around 4-5pm.

But Amber isn't saying she picked Twinkie up 3 hours later, just that the surgery went well. In my experience, if Twinkie was the first op of the day it's not unrealistic that the vet might have called her afterwards just to reassure her that everything was fine.

twinkie was probably first in the lineup, and the techs call owners as soon as the pet is out of surgery and recovering in the treatment area.

3 hours would be plenty for a mass removal on a dog her size, but of course this doesn't mean Amber isn't a lah about the entire thing.

think twice before posting pics, Hambone! the haydurs will be on 24/8 incision watch and can't WAIT to say it looks infected lol

If girlypop is struggling for some cash, she has about a month to beef up a bit and sign for the Washington Commanders to help them stop the tush push and she could make $93,334. Just saying, its not a bad gig
 
I still don’t believe Twinkie went in to remove a benign fatty tumor, something nearly all dogs get and is very rarely seen as an issue and operated on. Why would you spend thousands to get what’s essentially a cosmetic issue on an old small dog especially? Something’s not adding up, I think she just wants sympathy points

Agreed. The timeline is just too fast. Like yourself I don't know much about vet stuff, but I have had pets, and they typically spend several hours in post-op recovery because anesthesia can be rough on an animal so they keep an eye on them to make sure there are no complications. Three hours is too soon. I don't believe Twonk had surgery at all.

Fatty tumors are hardly ever removed. It's just not worth it unless it's like, covering their eye or gotten so huge it's lowering their quality of life.
 
In Emily's voice notes she mentioned several occasions where one of the pets would be sick when Amber needed attention. I don't see why this time would be different, she's not exactly creative.

Is there a way to fast track disability? If, say, someone is the size of a small killer whale, immobile, unable to perform basic hygiene tasks, rapidly approaching homelessness and finds themselves in hospital all of a sudden, are there social workers who can hurry that process along or does she end up tipped out of a wheelchair in the car park wearing only a sheet and a letter for her doctor?

Only if it was on the Compassionate Allowance list which would be stuff like cancer and genetic disorders. She is just fat so she has to wait 3 to 7 months to get her application approved and then another 6 months before payments come out

It's too short of a period of time. Another farmer mentioned here that surgeries usually do intake in the morning, which is true. We will usually do intake between 8 am-11 am, and then do all of the pre-op stuff. (Cleaning the area, shaving, administering meds, checking vet history for allergies, etc.) For younger dog,s this doesn't take too much time as there are less risks and less vet history, for older dogs, it can take longer. With Twinkie's lack of vet history, I doubt that it took a long time, but making sure she wasn't having a bad reaction to the sedative takes a lot more focus and a lot more time. Surgery that goes well can take anywhere between 1-2 hours, Surgery with complications can go up to 5-8 hours. Aftercare, we usually wait 1-2 hours to make sure the animal is coming around from surgery correctly and is breathing well. Again, this takes a lot longer with older pets. Going under is dangerous and sometimes deadly for them, especially if the dog is overweight.

Overall, I really doubt Amber took Twinkie to the vet and had a surgery, and if she did, those vets worked at lightning speed and probably didn't wait the appropriate amount of time after surgery to make sure that she came around properly.

When we collect an animal at 10 am for surgery, you're not going to see them again until 2-3 pm. I call bullshit.

In the comments of a reaction channel that covered this, there were other things that didn't add up (coming from vet techs).

✅ Most vet offices are closed the day after Thanksgiving and certainly wouldn't schedule a surgery for that day.

✅Vets shy away from doing invasive surgery on older dogs.
My dog had a malignant tumor at age 9 and was not a candidate for surgery. They said all they could offer was "supportive care."

✅ How would Twinkie even get a surgery slot on such short notice?

It sounds to me like ALR took an online course at The Foodie Beauty & FFG School of Grifting. She must have missed the disclaimer that if you are planning to grift, you must be prepared for people to expect receipts. Their course in The Art of Deflection is the least effective.

I will believe it when I see a surgery scar and a DATED copy of the vet bill.
 
I've seen a lot of speculation that she euthanizedTwinkie, mostly from Reddit (of course). Their reasoning for this is that if Twinkie actually came out of surgery successfully, she'd have shown him on Instagram or a community post. But as someone mentioned earlier, It could just purely be for sympathy and donations.
 
If she’s making Twinkie’s surgery up, I’d like to know how she is planning to hide Twinkie’s lack of bandages/incisions/scars. Even if she stays off YT for 90 days, there will be pressure from Ambabies and Haydurs to show Twinkie. If this was a lie to gain sympathy (and sympathy Cameo purchases) it was an astonishingly short-sighted one, even for Amber. Especially in the wake of the Rarity fiasco (RIP, sweet kitty.)
