If I were in Invincible's shoes, and Amber treated me like she did in the show, I'd join Omni-Man in disgust. I can just imagine Mark being so disgusted with his human girlfriend that when his dad pops the Viltrumite Empire question, Mark struggles to find a justification to stand for humanity, then Omni-Man brings up Amber's treatment of him, and Mark decides to join his father. Because if that's the experience you get from humans, that they're thankless despite you saving their lives, then yes, I can see someone joining the Empire and forcibly bringing peace to them just because they can be so disgusted with humanity.
You'd enslave the entire human race because your girlfriend of two months was kind of a bitch?

Given the autistic text walls he posts in the Star Wars thread all day every day I very much doubt he's ever known the touch of another human being, let alone actually had a girlfriend.

I'd give the human race peace, freedom, justice, and security. That, and considering all the supervillain attacks in that version of Earth, having Viltrumites serve as beat cops would probably improve things. Especially since some enemies (like Battle Beast) can give even Viltrumites a run for their money, so you need more than a few Viltrumites guarding the Earth.

That, and there's also the fact that in the future,
The Viltrumites do in the end serve as guardians of Earth anyways, protecting it from outside threats while breeding with humans.

So yeah, it would just hurry things along.

Just finished watching it. For me it's a 9.5/10 almost a 10, but I'm sure if you watched it you can guess why it's not a 10. Carried on the back of Omniman as one of the best villains I can remember. I go back to shows like GameofThrones and he blows all of their villains out of the water with how cold, and gruesome he truly is, but it's his glimpses of humanity that keep him from completely falling over into that one dimensional hole that a Joeffry/Ramsay/thanos or any other villain . I understand the teenage shit with Amber is a must for this type of work, but that ending is intense.

Favorite scene: "Where's Mark, William?"

I'm pretty burnt out on capeshit these days ... But I am really digging this series so far, and I'm looking forward to more seasons. Omniman is a fantastic character.

JK Simmons is always great and he doesn't disappoint in the slightest as Omniman, but Steven Yeun's voice acting was one of the biggest surprises for me. He is fantastic in this show.

To me, Invincible comes across as a more mature, more subtle, better written version of The Boys. I really, really liked the first season of The Boys, but the second season was a huge dip in quality for me. Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen with Invincible.

I'm quite a fan of the actual comic, the cartoon season is only about 10% of the comic run and it does have considerably more interesting takes on things like human nature versus alien morals as it progresses. The 'rah rah humanity' take in the first season is from Mark being a naive idiot, it doesn't last very long. More nuanced views come as time passes.

Also William was gay in the comics too, he just hadn't come to terms with it by that point and does eventually hook up with the borged out college guy. They had him out from the get-go in the cartoon, but didn't completely change him, unlike Amber who went from mildly annoying to an insufferable caricature.

You still want to enslave the human race in this sense because one girl was being an absolute cunt, that sounds like an elaborate way to justify being an incel.

Those events literally only could've happened with Omni-Man and Mark being more compassionate to humans, pre-character development Omni-Man would've had the Viltrumite Empire conquer Earth under the cruel regime of Thragg.

Oh no. The first thing we'd do if I were Mark is kill Thragg and install Nolan as the rightful Emperor, because he is.

Then we'd bring Earth into the Empire, and in a massive contradiction to how these stories usually occur, we go to a 9-month timeskip where damn near nothing changes outside of titles and taxes. And medtech. Kind of like what happened when Aegon took over Westeros. The local powers retained their title and power, they just had someone else to pay homage to. Especially since back in the actual comic, when Nolan took over some bug race that he was preparing to make a part of the Empire, he really didn't interfere that much with the common bug's life, he just took over and reigned as their king. Of course, they do as he asks, but for the most part, they live life the same way they've always done, just with a new ruler.

I enjoyed this show a lot. It's not perfect but it's highs are extremely fun to watch. I've known about the comic for years thanks to /co/ memeing on the super rape (Mark's such a pussy), but put it off for a long time.
I did keep hearing that comic falls apart somewhere near the end (not that it truly becomes bad or anything) and doesn't really recover. Can anyone confirm this? I know they moved some things around to speed up the pacing and generally improve the story for the series.

I don't remember if they included this bit in the show, but it's kind of funny to think about considering how often Cecil teleports.

The fact that he uses teleporting so much, even when it's not necessary, it seems like the story is making a sort of commentary on how the government in real life wastes money rather excessively.

"I can easily walk over there or take a bus instead of wasting $5 million of taxpayer money by teleporting, but fuck it, I'm addicted, I'll just teleport because it makes me feel better. Fuck the taxpayers."

Yikes.

My headcanon is a guy like that can obviously spot (maybe a mirror version of our political climate) that the current government is infested with the typical dumb leading the blind on the leash and whip of the greedy, and this is his personal way of sticking it to them.

Just watched it. It was interesting, a bit of a change from the usual capeshit, and JK and the Mauler twins were the highlights. Most of the others, maybe except for Cecil and a few others, I didn’t give a shit about.

yeah, the 30 year old genetic abomination transplanting himself into the body of a 14 year old so he could fuck a 13 year old girl who is actually a woman in her 20s was definitely a very cool gimmick.
Rex banging Dupli-Kate (as triplets) in the shower was a cool gimmick too, even though Rex was an insufferable cunt the first half of this show.
