Most Fallout posters on this site are too low IQ to watch him since they don't understand his points or his videos are too long for them, at least if the Fallout thread in the gaming subforum is of any indication. Are there any other sloptubers who maybe release videos like this in youtube shorts format?

makes a reference to the Gun Runners Arsenal achievement of being killed by a 9 Iron (a reference to Andrew Ryan’s death in BioShock) but the showrunner’s fucked up and made him say “crowbar” instead of “9-Iron”

If the "bad guy" has yet to kill a "good guy" in a narrative, or commit some otherwise heinous action, they effectively exist as neutral in the story context to use as a tool or cement as evil later. As a tool they can end up being the "good guy" in the context of a greater evil or something. The fact they have yet to kill anyone we care about is probably leaving the door open enough for us to "cheer" for them at some point.
I think this is the Jonathan Nolan influence.

This was used a lot in Person of Interest (Just look at the cast and crew, a lot of familiar names), that truly reprehensible people like Root were redeemed later.

Also, all the flashbacks. It's Nolan's thing.
 
This show really is evidence that the Internet is overrun with shillbots. While I have a low opinion on 'normie' judgment of show quality, it's not so low that I think the masses would rate this a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes or whateverthefuck its score is.

Quality of the writing has been worse than Game of Thrones S8 since the very beginning.

Also to answer the question of how his daughter got to the safety of the super sekrit Vault Tech Administrative Vault magically under the Lucky 38, I presume it went along the lines of what @>IMPLYING said a few pages ago

-Cooper Howards rides his horse towards a Vertibird where his wife is
-Because his wife is in the good graces of the Enclave, her daughter gets to go on board but 'pinko' Cooper Howard doesn't, which dooms him to being a ghoul
-Vertibird goes to Las Vegas, Janey and Borb go underneath the Lucky 38, get frozen
-For some reason, they get thawed and go to Colorado, but before that happens Borb writes a sentimental call-back on a post-it note because she psychically foresaw that her husband would become a Ghoul, survive for over 220 years and eventually find it inside her cryopod

there's no viable excuse for Borb and Janey to be thawed and go to Colorado other than the fact that the showrunners want to set part of Season 3 in Colorado. As I've stressed many times, the modus operandi of this shitshow's writing is "We want X to happen, so we'll just halfass or not even think about characters' actions/behavior/motivations to make sure X happens". For some reason much of the show comes off even dumber than 'Somehow, Palpatine Returned'

Same principle applies to every other retarded thing about the show. Like the Deathclaws remaining in The Strip even though they could obviously make it to Freeside with ease. Showrunners wanted Niggimus to have a power armored slice-and-dice-and-rockets fight with the Deathclaws, so the Deathclaws remain in The Strip and cannibalize each other rather than effortlessly penetrate or climb over the fence for fresh meat. And rather than have the Freesiders help the plot-power armored buck, taking advantage of their numbers and ranged-fire advantage over the Deathclaws, the showrunners just have the Deathclaws come one at a time at a slow enough pace to be manageable for Niggimus until the very last one requires a 'cool' Deus ex Machina from the NCR who somehow didn't bother making their way there years ago.

Seriously it makes no sense for the NCR to not already have some kind of garrison in Freeside and The Strip given how crucial the location is to the region along with the advantages that come from walled up defenses and developed infrastructure, but the showrunners wanted Deathclaws to obstruct Lucy's path to her father, so all semblance of logic goes out the window when writing up the setting. Makes no sense for the Deathclaws to come up there all the way from Quarry Junction without being eliminated along the way, but they need to be there for the pre-decided-plot-point to function.

It’s both. Season 1 of this show was extremely astroturfed and by Season 2 the momentum had died down, but I know a lot of people who haven’t played Fallout outside of 4 and 76 who really enjoyed this show. At first I couldn’t figure out how so many people were able to overlook the plot contrivances and character contradictions, but after reading an interview with Matt Damon where he said that Netflix now wants actors to reinstate three to four times per episode in a TV show because a majority of viewers are on their phones while ‘watching’ TV, it’s so much easier now to overlook a crappy product as a whole and catch bits and clips that light up your dopamine receptors.

I'd disagree that they were trying to make a reference at all.
Reading the script for episode 1, there's no mention of any game details or anything of the such. A lot of people who remark on certain character decisions attribute it to stats, but this is done unironically, as though dumb decisions which are recognised as such were done as intentional allusions to the games, when I doubt anyone with a hand in writing has actually touched them.

This philosophy of not touching the games has so far plagued every vidya adaptation out there and it's not changing. I would say it's to prevent the show becoming a 1:1 version of the game, but just in an episodic format, but sometimes the actors are also prevented from playing them too (such as Ellie's actress from the Last of Us tv show — a show that still diverged from the original material despite having one of the game's directors producing) and I can only surmise this is to prevent a "Henry Cavil in the Witcher" situation.

The "crowbar" line would be so easy to substitute with "golf club" too.

If the Enclave weren't aware she was covertly working with Cooper at the end there, then the reason she's not frozen in Vegas is because they have something better reserved for her, as a reward. I'm all in on Moldaver being apart of the Enclave and she might relocated Cooper's wife and kid out of courtesy or something. This is the only idea I can come up with. If Moldaver is a secret bad guy then, for some inexplicable reason, she's aware Cooper is out there and she needs his family as a hostage or something, but that's retarded.

The Enclave rewarding helpful outsiders or extending some sort of charity isn't unprecedented, bizarrely. At least in Bethesda's Fallout.
There's 2 examples of Bethesda's Enclave rewarding friendly outsiders, both in Fallout 3:
1) Anna Holt — betrays Project Purity to the Enclave and is later found in Raven Rock in her own little room, free to wander.
2) Stiggs — wastelander who worked for the Enclave after they saved his life and he invented the heavy incinerator. He's chilling on the Mobile Base and has no guards watching him. He seems pretty able to leave at any moment he wants.

I think a lot of the nonsensical bullshit is down to it serving as prelude to some nebulous payoff in season 3, which they had to know they were getting given season 2 was not announced before season 1 came out, meaning season 1 was written with the intent to have no ending? No, they knew in advance how many seasons they were going to get and outlined accordingly. It's likely episodes were written chronologically so there's some cohesion, but due to differing writers the actual tone changes from episode to episode. However, every episode has a stealth-writer in the form of Nolan, who outlined the entire series from start to end hence why he's credited at all — he's not writing any of this shit for the most part but he's not blameless since he should be writing this crap front to back.

He didn't even write the first episode, that was Graham Wagner, and he effectively locked-in the show as a comedy from the pilot onward since he worked on Silicon Valley and Portlandia prior, whose humour is more or less reflected 1:1 in the show itself. This means subsequent episodes will have to follow the leader, and it's possible it was never intended to be a comedy because you can see how the show would work if you took out the comedy entirely. The tonal whiplash that occurs whenever a necessary part of the plot comes up to emphasise that "X has happened" is probably a sign of this.

The issue is with the show was probably this nightmare scenario:
Outline for show (written by Nolan) + Mix of individually written or collaborated scripts with zero revisions + pilot script's original sin was making it a comedy and thus every subsequent episode also had to be one + new director for each episode = messy as fuck production from a writing viewpoint with 0 narrative cohesion and easily disregarded details and plot points.

We're seeing the Star Wars sequel trilogy + Writer's Room effect, but on steroids.

You have writers/directors attempting to meld their writing/directing styles with the previous work, trying to follow the trajectory laid out for them by the previous writer/director. However you're writing under the constraint that you can't end the narrative set up for you, only bridge the gap between the episode to the next. You know this means much of what you introduce has to be/can be easily disregarded in the continuation, so you're contributions are negligible at best. From a directing POV meanwhile all you need to do is emphasise the check-box moments in the outline, and everything else can be half-assed.

This is on top of (probably) adhering to a shared outline. Everything included in the episode will somehow be in service to that outline. It's also probable that once a script has been signed off on — no revisions. That means what is said and done in episode 1 must be regarded in episode 2, meaning if an idea no longer looks as good as it once did, you can't go back and make a tiny change to fix something that wouldn't be an issue otherwise. This is a mixture of time constraints and not being able to alter another writer's work. It'd be possible to do this, but considering the number of hoops required to sign off on a single script on top of getting approval for the change, it's probably not worth the hassle.

Via this way of writing/outlining, it means every element introduced except that which ticks off some box in the outline has to be easy to disregard or smooth over. The person writing it knows they're not dictating the entire story, it's already been done so by Nolan. They also can't answer questions definitively because the outline might not want it yet. This is what lead to the inconsistent pacing of the show. It's why we got a name for the F.E.V but no explanation on it, because rather than explain it in the scene it's introduced, it's already been decided in the outline that it's meant for season 3 ep 2 or something.

As for the outline itself, I don't know exactly how it's laid out, but I imagine it's something generally like this per episode:
Plot point 1 [ ]
Plot point 2 [ ]
Plot point 3 [ ]
[ ] = boxes to be ticked.

Using the finale as an example):
The Freesiders flee to safety [ ]
Maximus fights off the Deathclaws [ ]
The NCR arrive and save the day [ ]

It's possible the writer recognised the issue ("Why don't they help?") but couldn't write it in because it's not in the outline. So in order to answer the question naturally raised by the circumstances, you're essentially forced into the corner of writing off the majority of Freeside as amoral cunts with no sense of self-preservation. It has to be answered in the episode it becomes a problem because you can't go back and introduce something that'd make it a non-issue. It also doesn't matter in the end — so long as boxes get ticked.

For s2e2, the worst episode, you'd have boxes that look like this:
Brotherhood decline + West Coast's general lack of decorum and skill [ ]
Cold Fusion is in Brotherhood's hands, being used for some agenda-pushing purpose [ ]
Maximus is becoming disillusioned with the BOS/cracks start to appear between himself and Quintus [ ]
Etc.

You can see that the episode was written to meet each of those criteria at a minimum, it just did them in the most horrific way imaginable.

When I remarked on episode 4 earlier in the thread, I noted how the BoS Elders had somehow improved in their presentation from ep 2 (the retard robofucker becoming a non-retard for one), and this is probably a result of the directors being switched out who opted for a different line delivery (highlighting how differing directors can change the way a character is carried).

We know Chris handled the dwellers because they already differ from the more sombre depiction of ep 2. The only reason there's a single redeemable one (Asian chick) is a result of her character changing between episodes (vapid bitch (ep2) -> sombre new hire (ep3) -> the good one (ep4)) And because scripts signed off on can't be altered, Chris was forced to adhere to her episode 3 characterisation.

Episode 2 also establishes the behaviour of the BoS, Norm's Vault Dweller cadre (they're retarded), the Ghoul & Lucy being malicious dumbasses, and Hank just exploding people — Chris Brady-Denton is probably the one you can hold most responsible for the worst aspects of season 2, something markedly obvious by the fact any episode without him is better than those with.

TLDR: The show is like Nolan inputting the plotpoints and outline into ChatGPT and asking it to write the entire thing for him as a cohesive narrative, except instead of AI, you have people doing it, which somehow creates a worse, tonally bipolar output.

For fun I asked ChapGPT to strip out the excessive comedy from episode 2 and it arguably provided a halfway decent ulterior motive for Maximus killing Harkness

Jane Espenson has been credited as a consultant too I think. That dyke was a writer on most (all?) Whedon shows. The forced humor might be coming from her.

The trailer for Silicon Valley, and the pilot being written by someone who mostly wrote for that show, is contributing evidence to my position.
Jane is an important factor, but given her track record, I think you can sus out the part of the episode she wrote based on her writing history:
The opening scene with the Deathclaw. (She created a show called Warehouse 13 - a show all about aliens/monsters and shit)

Chris has more blame than I thought since, according to IMDB, he was a story editor on every single episode of season 2 alongside writing the ones he did. His stink is pretty much all over the show.
