I finally have time to write my thoughts on the season 2 finale.

I enjoyed it for the conclusion of the narrative arcs set up over the seasons.

We first have Lucy and her father, Hank. We've discussed Lucy having to relearn how horrible the Wasteland is, but I think that is the point. Her character is always in denial of the reality of the Wasteland. She never wants to kill people, only doing so in emotional outbursts or suffering from the effects of drugs. I would argue that she is also terrified of being like her father, willing to kill tens of thousands of people to protect loved ones. Which is why she sees the mind control chips as a possible alternative to violence and why she chips her father. Yet she then sees the consequence of the chips when Hank activates it on himself. The soulless, vacant expression. The nearly absent parental affection. Hank McLean is dead. Lucy has killed her mother and indirectly, her father. And now she may have killed everyone in New Vegas as the Legion advances. on it.

Hank's arc has been how far he will go to protect his family and restore the Wasteland to the way it should be. He's been to the surface before the show and he fucking hates it. An extreme case of Old World Blues. He wants a perfect slice of the old American Dream so much that he will leave his wife to die in nuclear hellfire, let himself get captured by Moldaver, mind control his daughter, and even mind control himself. He may love his daughter, but it is hatred for the Wasteland that drives his actions.

Maximus has finally been able to be the good man his father told him he would be. A knight of ancient legend, fighting sword and shield against a dragon threating the village. He said that he wanted to give the diode to "a good person" when we have seen that he is the good person. He has always stood up to evil, whether it be raiders, the Brotherhood, or the cruelties of the Wasteland. He just believes that Wasteland Good is not the same as the Innocent Good he sees in Lucy.

I loved the scene of Norm protecting the Vault 31 people against the radroaches. Another instance of a "good person". The Vault 31ers refusing to let Norm into the office unwittingly leads to their deaths which I see as a critique on the Vaults and Pre-war America. Only the few get in the Vaults, those considered worthy Americans. We that also in the story of Vault 33. Wastefulness all because they are Americans. We also see Vault 32 repeating the same events as the prior occupants. I believe there was graffiti on the Vault walls which said "Death to Management". Unfortunate that they were all supposed to be 'super managers'. Let's see if they get what they wish for.

I think we will see a less cynical Cooper in season 3 now that he has conformation that his family is alive. Lucy has already rubbed off on him by the fact he didn't blast Hank's head off. I like that he just threw House to the side as soon as he found that postcard. House did not expect that because he doesn't "bet on hope".

Despite the short time we had with the Legion, I think there are a few things we can glean from them. These legionaries would be the second or third generation born into Legion culture. Caesar is treated as a divine being. The goal of Vegas is not to establish a new Pax Romana, but to be the centerpoint of a holy crusade. To build Caesar's Palace and continue on conquering as the Legion has always done. An interesting counterpoint to the mind control that Hank is doing, following programming laid out many years ago.

My grips with the show has been the lack of concrete worldbuilding. The show gives us easter eggs and references but I want to know the state of the world. Could the give us a line from the NCR battalion that they were told to return to New Vegas from a radio call back at the new NCR capital in the Hub? Can Quintus proclaim that Lost Hills refused to take part in his righteous call to arms? I know that these would confuse audiences that just started watching the show, but they can handle a callback to the games now.

Even dumb and dumber, Todd and Emil, dropped that shit with FO4 and came up with a new (and more terrible) antagonist.
The Enclave did return in 4 though bethesda creation mods (paid mods by bethesda). Dont be shocked if they show up in fallout 5 because bethesda cant write a original plot to save their lives.

Of course they will. Hell I am willing to bet anyone here 0.0000005 cryptobux it will be set in Colorado and feature the very Enclave base we've been seeing hints at in this show.

It's funny how pristine the Rockies look in the final episode considering Colorado would probably be hit with half of china's nuclear arsenal what with Cheyenne mountain and all the C&C infrastructure and bases up there. Fallout Colorado would be the glowing sea from f4 extended into an entire state.

Also Bethesda has been teasing enclave on the moon for quite some time now, most likely as a get out of jail free card to continue having an organized, unreformed enclave evil in future titles after the enclave was written into a corner.

It's time to apologize to Fallout Frontier, it was ahead of the curve

You know it's grim when Frontier looks more like a proper Fallout experience than the official TV show

According to Fallout Tactics, that couldn't be further from the truth, so no.

So in other words, you would have preferred if the show actually cared about the Fallout property, and yet you still watched it for the memberberries and "easter egg references". Amazon niggers have nobody but themselves to blame for their suffering.

These are the same showrunners that made Westworld. High glossy production values. Highly acclaimed initially (though whether there is rewatch value is another issue) before crashing and burning as it transpires that there was never a long term vision and they can't deliver on the set ups. There's a pattern here. Add in Amazon and disappointment is all but guaranteed the only question being how long will it take for that disappointment to manifest.

Yeap. Jonathan & Lisa suck and nobody would give them the time of day if Jonathan wasn't the brother of the industy's most overrated director, Christopher Nolan.

The nicest thing I can say about this is it's better than the girlboss glop that was Twisted Metal season 2, but that's not saying much. Much like Bethesda's past 10 years of games, with "mods" it's at least watchable. 🚬

What are your predictions for season 3?

I think it will largely revolve around Lucy and Maximus helping the NCR rebuild and finishing off the legion while developing their relationship.
There probably will be conflict over what to do with Hank with Maximus and the NCR calling for his execution while Lucy tries to argue that's not the same after the memory wipe.
Mr. House might reappear but I'm not sure what else he could do for the story. Lucy will probably reunite with her brother.
The Ghoul will travel to Colorado and it will set up the Enclave further as the main antagonists. His wife will likely be dead or aged and his daughter probably grown up, possibly being taught to hate ghouls and mutants, creating tension and drama when her father appears.
The season could again just largely be filler for a BOS vs Enclave story in season 4. The Brotherhood will probably have Liberty Prime built by the finale and deploy it against an Enclave base or force and then it ends on a cliffhanger.

Lucy is going to pick up House and he'll take up Cooper's role of telling Lucy to stop being a retard while she pretends to be ignorant of the wasteland again and stares into the camera for a comedy bit.

The big reveal next season will be that the courier was under the enclave's control all along. The doc that appeared at the beginning of NV? A enclave agent who implanted a box in the courier (one of the new ones that are undetectable). He will appear as this totally evil guy that Lucy will have to stop via the power of love and girlboss energy. The lone wanderer or parent from fo4 will be referenced in passing.

There will be an episode in Portland with a cameo appearance from everyone's favorite lore friendly lizards

Episode 7 is called "The Handoff", so it's certainly going to be about how the Enclave ended up with cold fusion. Also, there's a Funko Pop (yes really) of House from this season, and said Funko Pop includes the platinum chip.

Putting aside the fact a Mr House Funko Pop now exists, I assume this is a spoiler, and the Platinum chip will appear at some point in season 2, maybe even in episode 8.
(if anyone cares, there is also a Pop of Culkin as Caesar, so it's confirmed 100% he becomes Caesar.)
If you'd have told me that was a Freddy Mercury or a Walt Disney Funko pop, I'd believe you. Those things are made to be as shitty and bare bones as possible.
