I don't know the lore all that well but the line about Americans felt like it was some self-loathing modern politics bullshit the writers put in.
Like the "Problematic" line, it probably has some modern politics behind it, but I think it works well enough in the show's world to not rip you out completely. The US did do a lot of bad stuff in Canada post annexation, and clearly Steph and her Mom had to do something anti-american enough to warrant being thrown in a prison camp.

We don't receive a ton of info regarding Canada or America's treatment of it post-annexation, and any of it which does get conveyed to the player is more or less just re-sharing what's in the Fallout bible. Fallout 1 or 2 also had a couple Canadian characters, and Fallout 3 makes reference to some place called "Ronto" (Toronto) but otherwise we don't know a lot about Canada.

The Fallout 1 doesn't elaborate much but given the ruins in the background and execution of prisoners shows that things probably weren't the best.
When you conquer a place, the people in said place are also an asset that comes with the territory; however, the war was for Canada's resources, so the actual preservation of life and urban centres wouldn't have been a major consideration.

It's ironically one of those contexts I could see them do the whole, "put Canadians into concentration camps" scenario and have it make sense, but I doubt they'd do such a thing. They can't do much else besides have it be a immigrant/refugee metaphor because they can't help themselves. It'd unironically be far darker than haranguing over immigrants but I digress.

Otherwise from bits and pieces, Canada gets fucked, so it's not entirely a self-hating political thing. Given the context, why wouldn't America just invade Canada? The Bible even points out America was defacto annexing Canada before their "official" declaration of such because the two had become too tight knit over resources and the war with China.

Fallout Bible:
"2059 The Anchorage Front Line is established, as the United States increases its military presence in Alaska to protect its oil interests. The Anchorage Front Line causes tensions in the United States and Canada, as the United States attempts to pressure Canada into allowing American military units to guard the Alaskan pipeline."

"2069 Canada begins to feel the pressure from the United States military as the US draws upon Canadian resources for the war effort. Vast stretches of timberland are destroyed, and other resources in Canada are stretched to the breaking point. Many Americans refer to Canada as Little America, and Canadian protests are unheard."

"2072 The United States' increasing demand for Canadian resources causes protests and riots in several Canadian cities. An attempted sabotage attempt of the Alaskan pipeline is all the military needs as an excuse to begin its annexation of Canada... which in fact, had already begun in 2067."

"2076 January The United States annexation of Canada is complete. Canadian protesters and rioters are shot on sight, and the Alaskan Pipeline swarms with American military units. Pictures of atrocities make their way to the United States, causing further unrest and protests."
It is worth noting that the American public didn't appear to support what the military was doing in Canada given that last point, but if it resulted in American riots the reaction came a little too late given the public were only made largely aware a year prior to the bombs dropping.

The problem is, while the average normie who's ignorant about Fallout will likely enjoy the show, an actual fan who played the games and cares about Fallout will hate the show.
I'm not sure how anyone, fan or otherwise, can enjoy the show.

It is an objectively awful product - badly written, badly acted, with bad props and special effects.

But then again, all modern entertainment is made for browns with subhuman IQ, so it's no surprise there's so many retards online defending this shit.

I've said it before, and I will say it again, there was a far better Fallout adaption made for the screen, and it was released in 1985, Albert Pyun's Radioactive Dreams, where two guys who spent much of their lives in a bunker, replete with early 20th entertainment including detective novels, bust out and go on a quest, but get sidetracked by side quests. Starring the soon to be "American Ninja" Michael Dudikoff and featuring a pure Eighties soundtrack that was curated by Pyun (and sadly received no physical release except for some vinyl LPs in Europe back in the 80s and a limited German release on CD back in 2011. Ever since some 35mm prints were discovered including one in near pristine condition, there have been some limited showings and I hear it's an experience to see on a big screen.

I personally want to award Commander X with a Kiwi medal for his valiant movie suggestion. That movie scratched an itch the current show simply cannot. Its not perfect but makes up for it in having a soul. I was coming up with SPECIAL builds for the two detectives, something the show marketing has been pushing onto the tourists to do with their characters, but here I was doing it naturally because this movie oozes Fallout vibes.

One of the ways you can tell this is a faux edgy reddit le whacky quirkchungus product is that they talk and joke about sex constantly but there hasn't been a single set of bare tits.
Season 1 did actually have many sets of bare tits, in Vault 4 during that weird ritual scene. Also has season 2 even had a sex joke yet? I can't remember one honestly.

I was late to watching the last episode but I enjoyed it. I am in the middle of a New Vegas playthrough at the moment and I have mastered the art of turning off my brain and enjoying the show via doing the "Leonardo DiCaprio Pointing At TV" meme whenever something I recognise happens.

All American media is like this. You can show someone's head getting exploded in slow motion close up excruciating detail but as soon as you show human genitalia, the christcucks start projectile diarrhoea shitting themselves all over the walls and carpet and furniture.

Also petition to start memeing eyepatch woman so she has a trash can head like Terrence and Philip

Thank you for making me aware of this. This is more Fallout than anything Fallout-branded published since New Vegas, I had a stupid grin on my face half the time I was watching it.

So why does the ncr have custom made power armor, exactly? In the new vegas canon, they rip out all the electric bits and servos of brotherhood power armor and put the shells on their biggest baddest troopers because they don't know HOW to use power armor... and suddenly they can just make their own?

It's just the 'rule of cool'. If the writers or audience find something entertaining it doesn't matter if it creates plot holes or lore issues. The bigger the "wow" factor the more idiotic and inconsistent will be the things people will be willing to ignore. The audience for this show just wants recognizable Fallout branded items to appear so that they can say "Oh it's Sugar Bombs!" and "Look it's Vault Boy".

What the fuck are you talking about? The Chriatians were at the height of their power in the 90s and early 2000s when the raunchy sex comedies with lots of tits ruled the box office and premium cable shows. The religious right is no longer in control yet somehow things have become far more sterile because the far left is far more puritanical than the fad right ever dreamed, just with a different motivation

The best thing that they could do would be to have her character put FEV in the Vaults' water supplies and turn everyone into supermutants. If they want to show that Canadians are all insane and unhinged and need to be feared. Have her go nuts like The Master.

Im sure someone has said it before but it feels more like we're on a guided tour of Wacky Todd's Official Fallout themepark rather than actually being served any sort of story set in the fallout universe.

The Ranger Power Armor got added to Fallout 76 and going by that model, which is the best look we have at it so far, I think it's supposed to be a modified set of T-45.

In the show, however, it looks like it is based off the T-60 suits they had made for season 1, since the T-45 suits in season 2 have shorter arms.

Basically, I think it's intended to be some bespoke piece of kit, and not something produced or widely used.

"Christcucks" have never had any significant relvance to media since before Bush Jr., we get it you hate your dad, but Hollyweird will do whatever they want.

I think this answers a good bit. We know there are Canadians in camps and out of camps. The ones inside are going to be godless communists or protesting Canadians opposed to America manifesting some destiny (i.e. the same thing). If a Canadian is not interned they're probably every bit as bad as the Americans themselves from the former's perspective. Given those circumstances why would their life be worth more than a can of beans? It's not the silliest backstory there could have been.

There's two ways it could go that make the most sense to me: The boring one would be that she was just some sympathizer/protestor and since her escape she was simply looking out for #1. Predictable and a bit boring. Another option is that she could have been an outright Chinese collaborator/asset who was rightly interred. Her actions are motivated by wanting to infiltrate/monitor the vaults and sabotage/commit espionage on any surviving Chinese Communist's behalf. That would be really interesting and therefore extremely unlikely from this show.

Well, I won't argue this one out since it would be derailing the thread, but you really have to be deceiving yourselves if you think this is true.

Besides I didn't even mean it in a political context, I just mean it's a cultural thing, the roots go back a long way. American media is practically afraid of nudity when you compare it to Yuro TV and films, which will show you swinging dick and full 70s muffs with complete abandon.

You won't argue it.....then you start arguing it before you even end the sentence. I won't call you a stupid faggot or refer to you as an uneducated retard.

Amazon doesn't do nudity. Neither does Disney, Hulu, most of Netflix. But HBO and Showtime have full male and female nudity in nearly every show. If you were expecting HBO level tits and cocks in The Boy or Fallout then you were setting yourself up for disappointment. If Fallout was on HBO you'd be seeing nude orgies in the Vaults, supermutant giant dicks, the ghoul would have his penis fall off instead of his arm, Lucy would be played by Sydney Sweeney and naked in every other scene. It's just not how Amazon does things.

It's also the 'writing by committee' style that plagues Amazon shows. They write each episode separately then someone stitches them together. This season has a different writer for every single episode. So there's no consistent tone or plot.
