I do too and having read the thread realize that there is no way that they are related because Amanda didn't grow up here and this other lady has just always been around. I also see in her (Amanda's) pictures and videos, she used to look completely different. It's only in the past few years that she looks like this. she had sort hair, no beard and wore a bra when she moved to Vermont and regardless of jokes about Vermont women, beards and no bra are not the norm.

Just to clarify, the older lady just has a really strong old lady mustache going on and maybe a few old lady goat hairs on her chin. She doesn't have the full beard and that, the pekinese dog breathing and the quality of clothing worn was my only clue that they're not the same person.

And now I am fairly pissed off, this other woman is clearly someone that is disabled and has seen some shit in her lifetime and she's being (I have become convinced) single white femaled by this other person. Who is making money off it while the original woman is clearly barely holding her head above water.

I don't know how in the world I am going to go about it but I am going to start asking some questions when I figure out where to start. And how to make the older lady comfortable (and not like she's being disrespected) when I do it. I see her much more often. I don't know if she's even aware of this Amanda but, I have seen them on the same bus route albeit not at the same time.

No, unfortunately I don't. if one wants to, one can put together a lot of information about the 'characters' on the bus, often you see them twice a day, five days a week, so over time you either get a mental image of who they are or piece together a lot of info from overhearing a piece of conversation here and there. But, if someone doesn't talk you don't get much.

If she is working, it's online. No one is going to hire someone that looks like that. I don't mean physicality, I mean no bra, etc. The other lady likely has never had a job, she just seems like a lifelong post soul. She doesn't talk, either by choice or health or mental issue, I don't know. But, I bet the bus drivers know a bit about both of them. Bus drivers are like bar tenders, they know everything about everyone. And, I just realized that's the first step.

A couple of last things - I went back and went through the pictures and videos linked earlier in the thread and for a little while I convinced myself it's not the same person because of how she acts in the videos. I know 100% that it is the same person but that is how strong the cognitive dissonance is from what I have seen and what the videos show.

The video of her walking up by UVM, that's not how she walks, she walks like I do- a normal person. The water boiling video, could that person ride the bus successfully by herself? No. But, she does.

It struck me that she's visually a chameleon. She never looks the same. The only thing each picture and video has in common is her unusual unattractiveness. You have to look at her nose to know it's the same person. In some of her recent (ish) vimeo videos she's small breasted with short hair and just a bit of facial hair.

I mentioned the above because I *think* I have been aware of her longer than I thought. In one of her blogs she mentioned taking ballet and wearing a foot brace. Well, I also used to be aware of a young woman I would see downtown ALL the time. She was uncomfortably unattractive with very short hair that looked like a semi abusive parent cut for her. I wasn't sure if the person was male or female but they had breasts and female accouterments (bag, etc) so I cataloged them as female.

She wore an obvious foot brace and orthopedic shoes and... would smile at people if someone spoke to her. My son knew this person so I am going to ask if it's the same person. Except for the purple hair this person looked EXACTLY like the person in the ferret picture. The nose is so distinctive in side view that it's memorable. And, if my son actually knew her then that means she spoke. He would have mentioned if she didn't. Maybe it's not her but my gut says it was.

I just want to thank you again for all of the information, @one_time_user . Amanda is one of my favorite cows, so having someone here who's seen her irl, minus her stupid fake illness, is enlightening.

Does Amanda have any presence in your area? By that I mean, is she well known in your town, or is she just another random resident of the town?
 
No, what's crazy is she has zero presence. I had never heard of her and I work somewhere that tangentially has an awareness of people like her (that's oblique, I apologize but don't want to give myself up here) and I have multiple friends that are home nurses or social workers and while they would never be indiscreet and mention her name, none of them suddenly have developed an interest in her without mentioning working with her (subtle).

Burlington is a college town/city but in reality it's a small town. I know the mental issues of every obvious person with issues downtown. I know the cast of physical issues people and what's going on with them. I know all the creeps and homeboys and lifelong, 3rd generation welfare recipients. I had never heard of this woman. That's why I am spamming up the thread, I am fascinated by this.
 
This is so wild that I don't want to believe you because there isn't really any evidence and this is too good to ever want to experience the disappointment of later discovering it was a clever ruse.

I guess you can't take a random picture of her but I can't think of anything else that would prove what you're saying.
 
I take the bus two days a week, the last time I saw her was about a month and a half ago. you bet your butt I will try to get video of her if/when I see her again. Just her though even though I am more likely to see her senior doppelganger first. I won't take a picture of that lady even though just a picture of her would show just how uncanny the resemblance is. That would be unfair to that lady, like I was making fun of Her which I definitely am not. It could be a while but I got this.

Eta: I downloaded the pictures of her with short hair and texted my son, he has no memory of her so I can't be certain the girl with the brace from several years ago is the same person at this point.
 
Thanks for your posts here. It's incredibly fucked up how this person is capable of being completely normal, but wants to model herself after some extremely unfortunate woman she happened to notice on the bus.

I think her brain is fried from the drugs she used to take, and she probably thinks her life will be easier if she makes herself as "unhuman" as possible. But she's extremely fucking mistaken. I really want to know why she does what she does, and this woman needs to be in the looney bin for how fucking weird she's acting.

I'm a long time lurker in this thread and I was always of the opinion that this lady is lying, big time.
I have a question for you: do you know the places she usually go? Do you noticed some other people's reaction to Amanda? Funny looks or something?
 
I don't know where she usually goes, I, like most, studiously /politely ignore everyone 'interesting' on the bus. I remember she typically gets off on either North st or the Intervale so my educated guess would be a friend's house on one and the Community Health Center on the other. My research says she likely lives in the ssouth end, not the north where I saw her.

I did mention to my bus mates the situation and they knew exactly who I meant as far as both women. They assumed that they were related also. She has the perfect invisibility cloak, extreme ugliness. You notice her and it's shocking and you feel shame for your reaction and ignore her completely.

With it being winter, if she's appropriately dressed, I may not see her and know that I am seeing her until spring when winter attire is lighter but I am still keeping an eye out. it may be a while but it's essentially a small town, I expect to see her again.

She actually vastly exaggerates her ugliness on purpose even though she'd be merely plain and unremarkable did she not put such effort into it.

Yep. She strikes me as the kind of person who makes an effort to be as ugly/alienating/etc as possible. Which I don't understand, but instead of just being caused by :autism:, it's probably because of utter batshit insanity.

I take the bus almost daily in Burlington, and I'm really curious as to how many times I've actually seen her and just never registered it was her. (:_(

I've been wondering why I've never seen her when I'm out and about, and this explains it perfectly.

She's been caught lying about the severity of her illnesses before, and she must know that even with all of them she wouldn't stand out in a town like Burlington... so why put forth the effort in her day-to-day.

Much easier to keep lying on the internets and abuse the system for that sweet tugboat.
