Hans is a name Casey/Len Gilbert is going by on Discord since his Len account was banned. I would also have to agree on the Telikonol observation.

"Optics" is an incredibly idiotic way of saying how something looks to others, which completely ignores the actual meaning of the word "optics," which has nothing to do with that.

Anyone who says "optics" in this way is a fucking idiot and can't speak English. Ignore them ardently.

Optics tends to refer to 2 things lumped into one: Public image, and the direction of the alt-right movement.

Among the right you have two kinds of people: Those who decide to go all out with their views, not giving a fuck what happens (think Andrew Anglin, some of the diehard /pol/lacks you run into online, etc.), and those who don't just try to "hide their powerlevel" but those who also want to be presentable and win PR fights (A lot of the "big names" from Gamergate fall into this category, along with a lot of the alt-lite celebs who were around for Gamergate). There's also plenty of arguments for both sides, from "I used to be just like those normies, give them a chance" or "You know that a Swastika is a bad thing to normies right?" to the full on "Who cares what they think they're going to attack us regardless" mentality you see from places like /pol/, or from the pages of the Turner Diaries.

The same goes with the direction. You have people ranging from those who want a return to traditionalism and "the good old days" to LARPing nazis you find on the internet who spam edgy memes and swatiskas at every "normie" they meet on the internet, while bitching that no girls want to fuck them.

It's also why "prfags" has been an increasingly common insult among /pol/lacks, and they tend to overlap with moralfags. The same goes with "Muh based black guy" and similar variations of it ("Based" minority here).

That's assuming that the "alt-lite" Gamergate figures are actually exceptional enough to secretly love an ideology which was utterly defeated 73 years ago, even in private. I imagine there are often genuine ideological differences involved, as well as disputes over the public image of the movement.

I for one am thankful that Blumiere, Len, and all the rest are doing such a bang-up job at making AltFurry attractive to people who are fed-up with "SJW takeover of the fandom". Really, just incredible.
