I'd always heard Weaver wanted to hook up with the Alien in the third film, the face to face was supposedly originally a disturbing kiss, by Weaver's request. She also requested Ripley die, and no guns in use (neither a negative choice, I think). I like to think the kiss scene would've ended up like this:

That's a terrible id... Actually, I like it.

I'm serious as a heart attack. Maybe at the end of Riddick 4, he ends up making it to his homeworld Furya, which it turns out has been colonized by xenos. Maybe the Necromongers had such a hard time with the Furyans that they resorted to using facehugger eggs they'd found on LV-whatever as a bioweapon. Riddick has to escape with what's left of the Furyans in an exodus..or more like an anabasis (they'd have to fight through not just xenos, but feral factions of Furyan survivors too).

Someone who's a professional writer could come up with something much better that that, but imagine Escape From Butcher Bay x Warriors x Aliens' third act.

The Riddick movies are just scifi wandering ronin flicks, a male power fantasy who fucks lethal aliens in the ass & makes them his jabronis. Those movies felt a bit 40K and Alien-inspired to me, like those worlds could exist as frontier systems in the AU.

That's because Pitch Black, the first film in the series, was based on one of the first rejected Alien 3 scripts, and further tweaked to take elements of it.

I don't think I'd want to see it since you aren't going to get competent people on that project. It'd also be forced and part of a step to do a multicrossover slopshit film series to desperately avoid actually being creative. But it'd be a decent one-off crossover film in the style of AvP if done well.

Riddick is from a prison world named Furya, no? Alien 3 takes place on a prison world named Fiorina 161 which people call "Fury".

They're so close to a suitable connection point between the franchises. The second Riddick movie has a bit of a Giger vibe to it as I recall (it's been years).

I really wish they'd come out with more artbooks. Not comics but actual collections of stuff like concept art and behind the scenes sculpts. More of Giger's art.
Old post, but my aspie mind wouldn't let it go. There's a pair of '90s point-and-click adventure games which used Giger art for the setting. You can play them for free here:

I finally got around to watching Romulus and I liked it? I was a little shocked honestly. I liked it quite a lot in fact.

The plot was serviceable, nothing groundbreaking but it kept things moving. The human characters were fine for the most part but once again nothing to write home about. Jonsson as the autistic Android was fantastic though, it was a weird role but they played it really well, best character.

The visuals were the real star though. Goddamn. They nailed it. The tech, the setting, the space stuff, all that crunchy cassette futurism stuff was perfect. It all looked superb, whoever did the set and prop design deserves an award. The ‘monster’ was also great, very unsettling looking.

I honestly think it’s the one of the best bits of Alien media we’ve had since Aliens, Isolation being the only other exception.

Solid 8.5/10, didn’t expect something decent in 2024.

I haven’t watched the TV show but I’ll skip it based on the feedback here.

@Mussolini’s Merkin I decided to break the tie. But people have to scroll back up to find which way...!

Predator: Not An AvP Movie We Swear! marketing is using the Alien "woooooOOOOOOooo" noise. Check out around :16, when his foot transforms into a sneaker.

I avoid watching trailers for anything I think there's a chance at all of me enjoying. Anyway, I watched this.

Looks really bad. Also, why the Hell would have to threaten a synthetic with being decommissioned if they fail. They do what they're programming to to the best of their ability. They don't think: "I'm going to try extra hard this time because I'm scared of being decommissioned."

It's an actor in costume running in trainers painted to blend in. Either they're going to leave it that way or it's an unfinished shot and they're going to digitally add a foot later. Could go either way.

Another Badlands trailer:
That voiceover at the beginning doesn't sound like Elle Fanning.

I assume it's just unfinished, but it's still funny. Similar things happened with a tie-in comic:

Another Badlands trailer:
Things that immediately strike me as wrong with this:
  • Several things suggest this is has some kind of injustice theme going on amongst the predators themselves. I dislike this. They're supposed to be a culture that accepts and embraces the honourable death. At least everything we've ever seen.
  • I dislike Elli Fanning's character talking to the Predator in that tutor sort of way. Predators are supposed to be threatening and outsiders, not something we teach or hang out with. The cases where a human has done so (e.g. AvP) have been cases where the human has earned that place. Here we get a smiling Elle informing the predator of how dangerous the world is and how none of his kind have survived.
  • We have seen older, more badass predators. The real elites, not the ones here to perform their rite of passage. It rubs me up the wrong way that some runt one presumably beats the unbeatable world but the older ones can't. If it were that great a challenge, the older ones would be rocking up to test themselves against it.
  • I REALLY dislike the Predator language they have added. We have heard the predators talk. They do it via rapid clicks. We've even heard one laugh if you've seen the deleted scene from AvP where one of them pranks the main woman with a xenomorph tongue. What's all this subtitled "Esaw ejit" stuff. No, saying gibberish in a deep voice does not make the predators more interesting. It makes them less interesting and more just big humans.
  • Do not like the Predator face. Not the design nor the digital effects when it talks (watch its face when he's saying "Then I will not fail". That's not practical effects.
  • I don't really get what Elle Fanning's character is supposed to be. If she's some sort of combat synth then why is she a waifish little girl? I mean, we all know why, but this is the franchise(s) that gave us Ripley, Apone, Dutch. Naru in Prey was there by happenstance (and at least pulled off some good physicality) but this Synthetic is presumably built and dispatched deliberately.
  • I hate the generic epic music on this. Where's the suspense?
  • If you're going to do an explicit cross-over between Alien and Predator actually set in the timeline of Alien with Weyland-Yutani, it deserves far more integration into the actual Aliens franchise. That should be a big thing.
  • Everything about this looks stupid. I'm predicting a solid 2/5 movie, dropping to 1 for anybody emotionally invested in the franchise(s).

I assume it's just unfinished, but it's still funny. Similar things happened with a tie-in comic:

That implies they've just AI'd it from a still or else AI'd it from scratch. Either way, an artist would have drawn feet in the first place if he knew anything about it.
