I get your point, but that needs to be fought too. It's a rather large fight. This nonsense of "oh hey you have a gun, thou shalt avoid trouble at all times" needs to be deconstructed, too (that line of reasoning is really an anti-gun-rights, pro-gun-control argument in disguise anyway -- it's meant to weaken you despite being armed, giving the state more ways to punish you for protecting yourself). Carrying the gun is avoiding trouble, namely because if trouble arises, I can fucking shoot it.
I see what you mean, and agree with you especially about the state weaponizing the responsibility that comes with carrying to fuck over American gun owners. My personal viewpoint is that if you have the power, tool, or ability to seriously harm or kill someone your best move is to avoid unnecessary conflict even if it’s simply out of self preservation. You just never know what someone else may do, fighting is chaos where anything can happen at any moment, and I don’t like taking those sorts of risks.

An update on the May 12th shooting in Cambridge: the shooter, Tyler Brown has a long criminal history. He was last jailed in 2020 for shooting at cops. The judge in that case was an AWFUL named Janet Sanders:
He had previous convictions for armed robbery and for stabbing someone. He was on probation when he fired on the police officers in 2020 so the prosecution asked for 20 years. But this judge only gave him 5.
