Was also looking forward to Supermaneuver, but can't support faggots of that caliber. All I want to do is zoom around in a plane and blow stuff up, plane games don't need Pride nonsense.
 

ACF has a video showing the current playable aircraft and research tree for AC8. F/A-18C is the starter aircraft apparently.

Edit: it's actually a recreation from memory, fml.

Anyways, people like that and Nguyen et al are why PW is the only thing that will ever come close to Ace Combat - you have to have to be pretty chuddy in order to get the storyline to be compelling in one of these games. At least until AI gets cheap enough that someone can vibe code the thing and do it from their basement.
 
It will be quite amusing that, if AC8 is going full woke, the DEI 'cultural sensitivity' consultants didn't pick up on Tasha's surname incorrectlt being masculine instead of feminine and allowed a pretty basic linguistic mistake to slip by them.

Bandai had to quickly issue corrections and update the website for AC8 after East Euro fans pointed out it should be Severskaya instead of Seversky.

Ace Combat's whole premise is that jet fighters are fucking cool, war is a glorious endeavor where honorable men fight for their countries/ideals, and peace can only be achieved through violence and killing the bad guys.

Even the most peacepilled AC game, AC5, doesn't shy away from the fact you need to murder the fuck out of people to move things along.

Any cretin that didn't get this when CUM HISTORIA starts blasting from the speakers needs their brains checked. Then again, troons need the lobotomy anyways.

In SEA you get little challenge coins for pre-ordering it for PS5. The fragmented pre-order situation is as bad as it gets; nobody even wants the vinyl, almost everyone is stumping up the extra money just for Aces at War.

All this talk got me firing the emulator and replaying the PS2 era, and reminded how much I liked the Studio Ghibli vibe of AC4's cut scenes. I'd actually watch a movie about that.
 
Considering the AC0 coming packaged with a pre-order, I'm wondering if it'll get any extra work beyond preventing the ps2 image stretch on larger televisions. I didn't see how the AC5 packaged with AC7 worked out since I own the ps2 era of Ace Combats. I know there's only so much you can do about the FMV, but I would love to see @Pixy mug in all its glory on a non-CRT!

What I am interested in is whether AC0 is just the PS2 iso in an emulator wrapper, or if they've actually ported the game to the PC. It's probably just the PS2 game in a wrapper, but if it's an actual port, that could open up the possibility for autists to port the other PS2 games over to the PC.

Everything they've shown so far looks good, I have yet to play an AC game that sucks (besides the Western version of AC3, even Assault Horizon was fine), the series has been shockingly consistent in quality.

Then again, there's always a first time, though AC8 hasn't been giving me any alarm bells.

The presence of the waifu bait is reassuring, because it signifies the devs know who their audience is.
