I picked up the 7 when it was on steam sales and I've been meaning to play it for a while now. How taxing is it on a PC?

There is no not-Enclave in PW, only a not-NCR.
Unless the lore book (releasing in 2054) has autistically in-depth lore for every square kilometer of the planet - it's not hard to insert a new nation somewhere. For example,

"Why did the American government suddenly become a Hyperracist Juche State based in Pennsylvania?"

"Uhhh they had the Three Hundred Mile nuclear reactor station which let them survive the ice age and uhhh the federation was keeping them in check until the Cascadian War"

It wouldn't be more ridiculous then the main power source/explosive of the setting; magic earthquake liquid.
He's probably talking about the Mercenary Cabal.
Speaking of mercenaries, too many games use mercenaries as a narrative crutch. It's a lazy way to justify why the protagonist has so much independence, when there was much more nuance to mercenaries in reality.

Historical mercenary bands were also very interesting in a way I feel video game mercs are not. Maybe there's a game that writes them well, but I haven't played it.

Yeah, but you've still got shit like John Hawkwood running around Italy working for the highest bidder, even if that wasn't the guy he had just signed a contract with, and everyone knows what happened when you didn't pay them, either as their employer or their commanding officers. Or hell, even if you didn't pay them more than the other side would.

They were also incredibly hard to keep controlled, the priests at Beziers telling the knights to just kill everyone there to avoid getting out-looted by their mercenaries who had decided to sneak in and open the gates when they saw an opportunity.

Don't tease me with a better version of America.

Basically just foederati. And the word "Foe" being in the name is quite apt.

A PW prequel in Oceania with the Mercenary Cabal being retarded could work. Maybe the sky can have a green radioactive tinge rather than cordium, too.

Do yourself a favor, avoid the AC subreddit. It's somehow gotten even gayer since the last time i poked my head in for a look.

Also, did we ever get a confirmation whether Debra Wilson is in it or not? I'm so sick of that bitch being in (and ruining) everything it will make me go from probably preordering to probably not buying it all.

If all you care about is Zero, don't preorder the game. You can emulate it perfectly on PCSX2 even if you have a literal potato.

I have finished it a dozen times on PCSX2. It runs almost perfectly. I would love an official release where all the little glitches are ironed out though.

They use mercenaries for the same reason they use made up countries, to remain politically correct. I hate that shit.
