Nosferatu
Did the Nosferatu not enter squadron service after the Estovakian dogs were put back in their place? I love the CFA-44 but I think it's now a "rare" plane in Strangereal instead of a one-off superweapon.

Okay, I went and did some more testing on the first four missions of AC5 to see just how good the squadron A.I. was. Two things I noticed this time. Before I was trying it out on Very Easy difficulty because I assumed that would beef up the squadron A.I., but they just ended up doing random walks after shooting down one or two planes. This time around I used Normal difficulty and it genuinely seemed to improve the squadron A.I., which was the opposite of what I hypothesized. Now they actually continuously attack the enemy planes (though they don't seem to be any good at engaging ships at the raid on Port St. Hewlett). This time around I also noticed that if I keep them in Attack formation and "kite" the squadron into formation behind whatever plane (fighter or bomber) I'm tracking, they'll start firing on it and shoot it down, but if I'm up close in a dogfight with my target, the squadron isn't capable of engaging them while maneuvering like that, they'll only fire when they can line up a shot from a distance. There also seems to be a little bit of difference between their ability to engage enemy fighters and enemy bombers, with the bombers surprisingly giving them more difficulty, though this might also be some bias on my part because I only realized how important "kiting" the squadron was during the bomber attack on Sand Island and couldn't get them to engage the bombers much while I was up close. Another interesting note is in the second mission, Edge and Chopper shoot down the first two UAVs almost faster than the player could even reach them if they tried. But then their A.I. does turn off for the rest of the UAVs, forcing the player to shoot them down. It does however turn back on for the fighters when they enter the battlefield and the squadron A.I. is capable of shooting all of those down.

After this trial, I'm reinvigorated and want test out the squadron A.I. in all the difficultly levels now that I see how it effects them and also want to play through the whole game doing a minimum kills run where I focus on kiting the squadron to do as much of the work as I can.

To my memory your AC5 wingmen are still pretty useful even on Ace difficulty.

For AC0, Pixy is still kind of useful on Ace, and PJ is really only good for distracting the enemy.

It's been in my cart since the start of the sale. I've already pirated it at least once and bought it twice on other platforms. But sure, why not. Thanks for reminding me.

More important than the game being on sale is that the DLC is on sale.

Still not buying the Top Gun DLC, no matter how funny those multiplayer TDM/Battle Royale wipes look.

AC0/4/5 Remaster never ever
Hell i'd be satisfied with a remaster of 2.

You WILL accept your Cross Rumble 3D remake and you WILL consume the Air Combat 22 rerelease.
Better yet we get a remaster but it's of ASSault horizon, a game nobody wanted and nobody liked.

They gotta remaster and do a proper international release of Electrosphere one of these years before I crash out and start remaking it myself in RPG Maker

I'd love for them to do that but also I feel like they'd butcher the best story in the series by doing so.

Also I want 6 to be saved it has the best mission design in the series since they are all open missions and they give you freedom with how you can be a war criminal rampaging through the skies.

I love filling the allied support bar and watching all hell rain down upon the Estovakian filth below. You can't commit war crimes against subhumans.

I tried out HAWX, the first one isn't as terrible of an Ace Combat clone as I thought it would be gameplay-wise. Only reached the fifth mission, so that could change.

If Project Aces had copied its "ERS" intercept guidance feature instead of implementing DFM, I think Assault Horizon would've been better received. It's more light-touch and generates a pathway you can follow that gets you on the tail of an enemy and even routes you to ground enemies hiding between structures, or a pathway to evade missiles.

Haven't finished it yet, but you can preview the aircraft roster from the start; it has some distinct picks that haven't been in AC like the Viggen and Mig-23, as well as the Mirage IV and 4000. If PA looks for more Euro prototype or lesser-known jet aircraft to throw into the games, there's plenty.

Oh man it's been a while since I heard HAWX. I remember it as being a pretty solid game and scratched the "I wanna play more AC" itch fairly well. Not as well as Project Wingman, but still well enough.

Maybe it's because I am an idiot, but I found S Ranking missions in AC7 is much more frustrating then 4, 5, and 0. In the latter I've S-ranked every mission on Ace, but in 7 I am still working on S-ranking the hard difficulty. 7 has too many gimmick missions for my taste, and the stipulations for S-rank are really strict on some missions. Merc difficulty on Wingman is a slog, but at least that game just wants you to blow everything up.

Decided to download a PS2 emulator and to play those games since I've only ever played AC7 and project wingman. Beat Zero, now playing Ace Combat 4. I was kinda retarded for the first few missions and didn't realize that the game can be widescreen and rendered at 4K 60FPS. Looks surprisingly good with whatever render magic PCSX2 does.
