I have nowhere else to sperg about this anyway so here's my thoughts about case 4 so far.
I'm at the judge's testimony atm.
The moment I saw Calisto's name I was convinced that she did it, so Edgeworth going to the embassy staff member when talking about other people with motives to kill both Rell and faraday actually made me go "bitch wtf are you talking about" irl...
Anyway, I'm 9/10 sure that the gunshot Badd heard was baloon popping so the victims were killed much earlier.
Judge couldn't see Gumshoe in the hallway because the latter was crouching trying to get the $5 from beneath the vending machine.
Kay probably was the one who bought swiss roll for him

I'll see how right I am soon.

Simon sounds so good, it's like they found the guy from the fan translation, and offered him a gig and a better mic.
Late, but I just beat the game, and can confirm that this is true. It does deadass just sound like his old one, but with a better mic, and is by far the best new objection.

Having said that, here's my final thoughts on the official version: The fan one is better.

That's not to say the new one is bad, but it's not as good as the fan one. Between the subpar voice acting, and the script becoming noticeably clunkier in the latter third of the game from what I assume is the result of the devs going overboard as to not be accused of directly copying the fan version, the new one is just not as good.

Simply put, if you wanna play AAI2, get a DS emulator, and play the fan version.

Am I happy I got it? Yeah. Do I think a ton of overall work went into it? Yeah. But do I think they really dropped the ball in areas where it counts the most? Absolutely, and it's a shame they did because if they just had better voice acting, and weren't so afraid of plagiarism accusations, this could've been so much better.

Did they get a black woman to voice Judy? She sounds vaguely ethnic.
We don't know. In fact, it seems like most of the voice actors for the game are unknown, including the Japanese ones, which is a bit odd.

Ace Attorney enjoyers,
There is a current effort for a custom KF-themed campaign being developed around the incarceration of BossmanJack using PyWright. While the main trial is around bossman, we are looking for artists and writers for this hack to encompass the Kiwi Farms as a whole. This can include any and every lolcow you seem fit as references and in-jokes. If this is something you're interested in, PM me.

thread tax: I like playing this series and will be playing the Investigations Collection when I have the time. :)

The thing with the Japanese voice actors on the original games is that they were voiced by Capcom staff members. Phoenix was voiced by Shu Takumi and Godot was voiced by Kamiya, for instance.

Anyway, halfway through case 2.

Kay says "Yeah, it IS pretty SUS..."

I'm about to murder someone.

Do you have hope enough in the franchise to be excited?
The way they're presenting it it doesn't feel like a new game. Just talking about existing games and maybe some side material like a new anime or sth. If there is an announcement, I'd doubt it's more than a logo and press release officially stating AA7 is being made. (Even though the leak from years ago already revealed the game was meant to come out after GAAC.)

As for hope, I've absolutely none. Unless Takumi is directing I'm out and it's not like he can undo the damage DD and SoY did to the main series. Not interested in a hypothetical GAA3 either. And that's with Takumi, realistically it's gonna be directed by some literalwho that got promoted to take over for Yamazaki. They'll 100% do as bad a job as he did.

Edit: Shit, I forgot, this is the Demake Era. AA Remake in the RE Engine. I was underestimating Capcpom's potential to make sloppa. That's far more realistic.

Weird how Ghost Trick is here, could the next Ace Attorney game be a crossover between Ghost Trick & Ace Attorney?

I know it's by the same creator and all but I find it odd.

So it was nothing, as expected. "We haven't forgotten AA. Pls buy the games."

Wish they would've acknowledged the Layton VS AA crossover.

You shouldn't, people always associated Ghost Trick with AA because of Takumi. GT was ported recently too, so they're just advertising. It means nothing. Kinda ironic how all the DS stuff from that time got ported alongside eachother basically. I'm not sure it was entirely intentional as far as GT was concerned.

Might be an issue with Level-5 being difficult about rights or something
Yeah the ownership of the crossover is a bit of a mess. I doubt they can't acknowledge its existence though.
It's just that they ran through all the "weirdoes" in the games, so it would've been nice to include Barnham in the list.
"That was more than 20 years ago"

*shows footage of the HD remaster*
2018 was 27 years ago dude.

Funnily enough, I just played the Ghost Trick remaster. If there are 2 things I really appreciate about Shu Takumi, they're his appreciation of hot women and his ability to actually write a happy ending instead of a postmodernist downer that seems to be endemic to everything these days.

AAI2 is definitely up there for me. Top 3 games would be T&T, AAI2, and TGAA. The finale was fun. Seeing characters from every case is something they should do in most games. I am surprised we did not get more of Gregory Edgeworth because I could have sworn it was said you would play through the case leading to his death. Disappointed that Shiina wasn't referenced. Gavelle is great. I'm shocked she's only 25 though. Oldbag was missed terribly.
