Okay, so the revealed names so far are:
  • Raymond Shields=Eddie Fender
  • Justine Courtney=Verity Gavèlle
  • Sebastian Debeste=Eustace Winner
  • Nicole Swift=Lloyd (probably going to end up being either Tabitha Lloyd or Tabby Lloyd)
  • Horace Knightley=Knight
  • Ethan Rooke=Rook
Really, these new names aren't bad. They're actually really good. I'm just wondering what Simon Keyes' new name is gonna be because his fan one is so good, it'd be almost impossible to top.

Edit: Additionally, Di-Jun Huang is now Di-Jun Wang, Prosecutor's Path is now Prosecutor's Gambit, and Logic Chess is now Mind Chess.

They also mentioned Di-Jun Huang, now respelled as Di-Jun Wang.
Prosecutor's Path has been redubbed Prosecutor's Gambit, which works with the chess motif.

Hotel Dusk surprised me when I first played it. A really good game. Hopefully it and the sequel I think exists comes.
Yeah, that is kinda weird. Even Ghost Trick and Another Code made it on Switch. I'll be surprised if Layton and Hotel Dusk don't.

Here's hoping they didn't do sth stupid like hiring ProZD for eceleb clout. He was one of the voices in the fantranslation.
Oh shit that's right, The Objection voices are going to be different too.

Wonder if Justine Courtney / Verity Gavèlle will still say "Overruled!"

Based on the translation of her Japanese exclamation, it could either stay "Overruled!" or be changed to "Dismissed!"
I'd expect the former.

Yeah, it's an unassuming little gem that's easily overlooked, I certainly didn't expect going into it that it'd become my favorite DS game. I think it will come, but I just hope they don't woke it up like Another Code Recollection.

Of all the things to get me excited for new games, I really genuinely did not expect it to be a Nintendo Direct. We finally get a remaster of both Ace Attorney Investigations games with 2 getting a localization, and a new Mario & Luigi on top of it. I've been genuinely excited all day, and that's really rare these days.

I am OBSESSED with Ace Attranny. It isn't even because the games are good or I like them, it's not the reason I decided that being a prosecutor is my dream job (and don't you think convicting niggers was a big motivating factor too.) Tranime is gay.

Apollo Justice was my introduction to the series, loved it at the time, but once i went to play the original trilogy from the start, i realized it really is one of the weaker titles in the series. It's got a great first and last case though

It's got a great first and last case though
That can be said for almost all the games though.

Only last case I didn't like was the 2nd game. Not a really big fan of kidnapping plots in general, but somehow Miles Edgeworth 2 seemed to do that better.

And the only middle case i liked was Athena Cykes' case in Spirits of Justice and MAYBE the school case in Dual Destinies

I didn't like AA 4 or 6 that much. 4 felt like they were trying too hard to push Apollo when Wright and Edgeworth were the more interesting characters, while 6 just felt too weird and like they were trying to do too much at once. 5 was okay, but mostly just because they added Athena the cute redhead and brought back Wright and Edgeworth as playable characters. Overall the second trilogy just departs too much from the earlier games' setup and the characters that everybody liked.

And damn it, I wanted to see Gumshoe again.

care to expand on that?

I mean I agree to a point, but I'm just curious what your reasons are

In short, the writing became completely incompetent and un-self aware. At least original trilogy didn't take itself seriously for the most part.

Apollo Justice has the worst cases in the whole franchise. Dual Destinies is sloppy with how the characters are developed, mainly Athena and Apollo. Spirit of Justice is so uninteresting that I dropped it for 6 years and after finishing it just a few months ago, it still felt like a let down.

Apollo Justice is easily the worst mainline game for the following reasons:
  • The plot of it shouldn't be able to happen (or at the very least, not happen nearly as easily) considering everything that occurred in the previous games
  • The conspicuous absence of all the characters that could've helped Phoenix
  • It completely blows its load on the first case, and then the rest are either forgettable, boring, bad, and/or tediously drawn-out
  • It has the best mainline villain, but they're incredibly underutilized, borderline feel unfinished in some areas, and the final showdown with them is terribly short, piss-easy, and feels like a more like a tutorial boss than a final one
  • Speaking of said villain, they're the only one with a truly great breakdown
  • Hobo!Phoenix is really weird, and makes the absence of all the characters that could've helped even more noticeable
  • They implemented the jury system just to immediately drop it in the next game
  • IIRC, so far nothing plot-related outside of the Gramaryes has ever been followed up on even though that really shouldn't be the case because the game leaves a few very interesting plot threads just hanging

That's what bothers me the most

The 2nd Edgeworth game takes place way before Apollo Justice, and considering his goal at the end was to fix the prosecution side and make sure it doesn't get corrupt again, one would think he would have been all over the forgery incident like flies to shit. That alone leaves a gigantic plothole.
