As far as I'm concerned Ross earned retirement with the resounding success of SKG's signatures. The man literally made history.
SKG's wiki page grew nicely in the meantime. I love this part... in part-icular.

Fagdavius Nigtree was deemed so irrelevant he doesn't even have an article on him anymore.

He wears his contempt for xbox owners on his sleeve, doesn't he
I think it's less of a contempt for Xbox owners thing, and more of a "I really fucking hate when a game that was originally going to come out for PC ends up a console exclusive" thing. He blasted Quantic Dream for the same thing over Heavy Rain becoming a PS3 exclusive and not releasing a PC port until over a decade later. Ross is a PC gamer at heart (he also doesn't like controllers for various genres, FPS especially), so it's understandable that he gets a little upset when a game he thinks looks interesting ends up going to a platform he doesn't own and doesn't want to buy.

And hey, I was one of those Xbox owners who picked this up. A lot of the horror references flew over my head back when I played this because horror wasn't a genre I typically engaged with, and I especially didn't pick up on the Twin Peaks influence since I hadn't watched the show then. Watching this review now that I have seen the things being referenced made it more obvious, though I don't find it as much of an issue as Ross did. In-universe, considering that the events of the game were mainly due to Alan's manuscript, it makes sense that he'd pull influence from the things he personally had watched and read and incorporate that into his work. On a meta level, it's clear that Remedy wanted to make a game inspired by various classic horror tropes and visuals, which is why they're there in the first place (though I agree with Ross that Alan directly calling attention to the axe through the door was a bit too on the nose).

An entertaining episode as always, I'm glad that he managed to get this out in the nick of time. Halloween just isn't the same without a Game Dungeon and Mandy suffering a mental break as he traverses another bizarre game.

The idea of using GRRM in a game is hilarious. Also weird of him to talk on games like Deadly Premonition, could have been a fun episode by itself.

Like last year's video, really strong half but the second half less so, I think the issue is that the plot is explained pretty well, so less chance to do jokes about "what to do when you get in trouble in Nowhere USA".

He had a few complains on one of the Deus Ex sequels being changed/downgraded for console hardware too.

I personally found Alan Wake too boring to finish, the original vision sounded so much better, the story is worse than i remember. Even so, for a game that i wouldn't call prime game dungeon material, im still satisfied enough by this episode. It had some good quotes too
Your sobriety is causing an existential crisis Gordon Alan
The Evil Dead bit made me think a little, id love if there was a game of the franchise with the gameplay of Resident Evil 4, and some modding because why not. I heard the Xbox games were quite decent but i never tried them.
Hell i'd kill for more movies (like the original trilogy), the nice, gradual development, from unsettlenes and horror in the first. To mad comedy to an epic action adventure. I hope the cartoon show is good

This comment sent my sides into orbit, might also explain why THE MOOVIEEE is taking so long.

No he directly says that Xbox owners are stupid and bad at video games multiple times in that video
Xbox players are younger, and therefore less likely to get references like the Shining.
Controllers are harder to be accurate with.

Release the George R.R. Martin cut, Remedy.
"Alan found Alice squatting in the grass, groaning. Every stool was looser than the one before, and smelled fouler. By the time the moon came up, she was shitting brown water. The more she drank the more she shat, but the more she shat, the thirstier she grew." - GRRM & Sam Lake

Remember that scene from Dumb & Dumber To where Harry smears chocolate all over the bathroom walls, and his date's father comes in and screams about shit being everywhere? That's me when I read GoT.

Ross would hate this but I can't get this damn mondegreen out of my head and it needs to be released

it needs to be released
Don't. Ross has a lot of goodwill towards the farms and Null, and this would just give his tranny orbiters ammo. He's never weighed in on the most sensitive/controversial subjects (as far as normalfaggotry goes), sticking firmly to what is relevant to him and his fanbase. Let's keep it that way. Ross is the closest we have to the video game Jesus.
