I actively pray for this to happen so I can see retarded game devs seethe over having to do bare minimum work.

VICTORY.webp

Finland came in clutch. Also, shame on those two tiny Mediterranean Islands -- they're barely European anyway (jk, just breaking balls). I guess those smaller nations just have larger margins of error due to less citizens who care about gaming swinging the stats.
I think that's the case, more or less. Smaller population means fewer people in total who might be interested in signing, so if the word doesn't really spread in their area, there's a greater chance they'd get missed. Both of them plus Luxembourg had the smallest thresholds to reach due to their low populations, but paradoxically they needed a greater percentage of their population to sign up to reach it. For example, Germany needed 0.08% of its total population to sign the initiative (67,680/83 million), whereas Malta needed 0.8% of its total population (4230/520,000). There must be some minimum value for the EU's calculations for these thresholds or something, I dunno.

At any rate, I'm glad things turned around in the home stretch, and I hope that something good comes of it (especially so Mald seethes some more). Game devs had many opportunities to do the right thing before, but I guess force is the only way to get anything done now.

I've always liked Ross's view that one of the important things about those games is that he just likes exploring worlds. It's a cool perspective and one of the things that makes Game Dungeon so good. The Crew episode is mostly about how nice everything looks and how it was a way to take a look at America in a few hours. Talks about how things in those worlds work too. One of my favorites is the one where he plays Sonic Adventure or whatever and just goes on a tangent about how letting Robotnik just win might not be so bad because all he'll do is put up statues of himself and advance technology. He also calls Big the Cat retarded which was pretty funny.

It's over, bros

Speaking of which, I am glad that Ross actually kind of succeeded at what he wanted to do, or at the very least what he personally can effect without going into politics. He is right in that he is just some youtuber, not THE youtuber like Pewdiepie or MoistKritical or whomever that has so much pull they could probably put some serious pressure on the legislators or companies involved but he did a good job of getting the ball rolling and making sure there is a light shining on the issue, which will be only amplified after everyone got a taste of what dead games look like after the recent de-listings thanks to Visa and MasterCard. The ball is in someone else's court now, glad that Ross is going to come back to what he does best, at least he got a nice chunk of new subscribers out of the ordeal even if SKG fails at the last hurdle.

That one is probably my all time favorite, or in the top 5 along with Deus Ex videos and a few others. I wonder what he would say if he played one of the Mario games and started talking about the in-depth socio-political issues of The Mushroom Kingdom or how global warming is effecting it. Or, he could play Shadow The Hedgehog and embrace that game's edginess and retardation

The sad yet true reality is that it's easier to get people to rally against a villain than their own best interests.

I'd rather he just go full time with Game Dungeon. The film was a massive time sink, and Freeman's Mind 2 doesn't click as much as the first one did.

Though in the end the main issue is that Ross has the perfectionism mindset that makes those projects take forever.

I think you're joking about no more Freeman's Mind, hard to tell on the internet I know, but Ross didn't say it's over, only that it's taking longer than he would like, and he'll keep doing them as long as people still want them.

I glad to hear that he will be taking a break from all of it, im sure that influx in donationts will help with that especially since he took a financial hit because of skg.
Dude earned it.
Suck to know that there won't be any gaming dungeons anytime soon. They are a good material to fall asleep to.

So the first video of SKG campaign would be released on January 18th 2024, that would be the Dead Game News on The Crew which would be the catalyst for SKG as a whole. Last Freeman's Mind was released on October 10th, 2023, which means we will soon have a 2 year anniversary of that episode.

Since starting SKG, Ross has only released a grand total of 4 non-SKG videos in a span of a year and a half, and as you can guess all of them were Game Dungeons. I think it's becoming clear Ross just doesn't care about Freeman's Mind, when the chips are down he prioritized Game Dungeon and I can't even fault him for that, these videos are much more entertaining and usually longer than Freeman's Mind episodes.

That said, it is depressing that we're still in Ravenholm. For reference, The episode when Freeman first enters Ravenholm(Episode 17) was released on May 12th, 2022, which means we've been here for nearly 3 and a half years now. I think Ross really needs to do something with the series, either cancel it outright or pick up the pace like he did towards the end of Freeman's Mind 1. He released the last few episodes(Xen) in quick order and they didn't have any marginal decrease in quality, they are arguably some of his best. Ross needs to do something similar here, either give us a schedule like a normal content creator would or put Game Dungeon a backburner for a little bit until he at least finishes the base game. I doubt that is going to happen now, Ross said he is taking a vacation, but I think this would be the best course of action in the near future when he does come back to content creation.

I feel for the fuckin' guy, he already works really hard on a type of youtube content that underperforms financially, so he's putting his heart into his work rather than selling out. He doesn't need to donate his entire lifeforce to keep SKG going indefinitely. I'm happy he's stepping back and sincerely hope everyone else involved can take the reins from here without his active involvement.

Also I want more fuckin' game dungeons for my massive comfy youtube video essay playlist. I want that AT LEAST as much as I want games to stop being killed!

Game Dungeon, with the exception of like one or two episodes, has been some of the most interesting content I've ever seen on Youtube.

Meanwhile Freeman's Mind, while fun, sometimes feels like listening to noise, even when I'm giving it my undivided attention.

Freeman's Mind is fine comedy and one of the few relics of the Machinima days which hasn't been completely dated while Game Dungeon is bizarre rambling headcanon. There really is nothing quite like it.

I've got nothing better to watch, so I know what time it is: Deus Ex Trilogy time
Shame he never did a video on the fourth one, but I still consider this to be one of the best sets of videos on Youtube. I just dug out a copy of Invisible War I forgot I had, I wonder if it's worth trying out today. I was turned off playing it back in the day for the same reasons Ross outlines, and I got Human Revolution for free on the Xbox which I also didn't play for the same reasons.
Either way, these three never get old, kind of like Freeman's Mind. A lot of Game Dungeon videos are like that, but I find myself coming back to Deus Ex more often than the other ones, maybe Ross should have covered more mainstream games.

I think the reason the Deus Ex videos work so well is because of the perspective on conspiracies as presented in the games that he approaches them with. I doubt he'd have anything to say about Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty, the game has to be interesting first after all.

I LOVE the fashion show bit

There's an art to expressing a sentiment without actually coming out and saying what you mean literally (much like a crowbcat video). This bit in the Human Revolution dungeon really helps drive home why the game doesn't work as a prequel to Deus Ex the OG and how it clearly... we'll just say it has different priorities.
