Fun fact: The first CG cartoon on TV is the The Incredible Crash Dummies. It aired on Fox Kids in May 1, 1993.
It's also silly. Very silly indeed.

I remember watching this as a kid and loving it. I had the toys and stuff too. I'm surprised I didn't grow up to be a recall coordinator like Ed Norton in Fight Club.Fun fact: The first CG cartoon on TV is the The Incredible Crash Dummies. It aired on Fox Kids in May 1, 1993.

This is from the 80s, yes, but this is still a certified hood classic.
It's weird that the 2000s looked way different. The first few years of Roblox back in the mid to late 2000s had a very similar aesthetic.
It looked absolutely glorious, especially with those vibrant colors and the shading.
The CGI in the ballroom scene of Beauty and the Beast still looks good. Has a lil' bit of 90s CG in some areas. But for the most part, it still looks fine.
Here's two images and one video on how it's made, as well as a comment by Pikapetey Animations on said video, explaining how they animated the 2D portion.

It's an uphill battle. If good 3d is doing its job then it looks 2d and you don't notice it and won't realize it's an example of good 3d unless you're told.Princess Mononoke is the other great example of CG used in a 2d movie that still looks fantastic today. Cg has garnered a bad rep but thats only because its associated with rushed hack jobs done to save time and money, its always looked great under the right hands.

You're not actually. Acclaim's racing games were kino stuff.I sometimes feel like the only person in the world who actually played this:

Simple cyberpunk stuff, but it's still so weirdly imaginative.

I came here to post the LGR video and while catching up on the thread I saw B&B mentioned and was going to post how much slicker Princess Mononoke was. Damn!
Disney got it down way better on Tarzan and Treasure PlanetThe Beauty and the Beast CGI actually looks kind of shitty in my opinion. The floor looks good though.
The floor reflection was also hand-drawn, so that's why.The Beauty and the Beast CGI actually looks kind of shitty in my opinion. The floor looks good though.
Sorry, I did not mean the reflections of the characters on the floor, I meant the actual floor. The floor reflection was also hand-drawn, so that's why.
Regardless it looks amazing, even for something in 1991, it holds up strongly today.Sorry, I did not mean the reflections of the characters on the floor, I meant the actual floor.
