When researching the idea of multiple continuances I read articles about it from other states, it's not just a Virginia thing. Most low level offences can be continued for many months if not a couple of years if desired. It seems that the bar for a judge granting continuances to the defense is very low in most cases, especially if after a few the prosecution isn't pressing the matter.
 
This is scandalous, plain and simple. Whoever said the judges were handling this case like a plastic bag full of shit was right on the money.
 
I think the DA is telling Chris to do something and he isn't. Like get anger management on his own to show good faith. Chris doesn't because of course he is completely in the right. Pure speculation but I can't figure out what else all the continuances are for. Also I wonder why Barb stopped coming? I could see her refusing to be seen in public with Chris in Tomgirl form. I just think maybe Chris is ignoring what he's told because their isn't an adult to pay attention for him.

*edit*. So Barb came this time? Wasn't she absent the last two times?

If I had to guess, Chris' lawyer asked Barb to come so she could hear what the judge/DA are telling Chris to do and make sure he does it. Two continuances ago Chris was told to get psychiatric help and it seems he didn't do it. I'm guessing all this stuff just washes over his head as "adult stuff" and walks out the courtroom each time with the only thing sticking is the date for the next hearing.
 
If an open and shut case takes this long, I can only imagine how long a complex one would last.

Yes, this is a travesty. After all, Chris murdered all those people and then shot down that airliner full of babies and....

Oh. Nope. No. It's a relatively minor thing he did and continuances are common. As many other posters have pointed out before.
 
Thing is that apparently it was already pre-determined that there would be another date in two months. He was telling this to Barb after meeting with the PD, prior to going to the stand. I agree that maybe the prosecutor is trying to get him to go to therapy voluntarily. Perhaps all the continence are just follow-ups to see if he's actually doing it.

I wonder if they gave him 3 months cause this is his last shot to get the therapy. Did the judge speak to him at all?
 
The "reporter" needs to be invited here.
The reason for the next court date being months away could be because the PD is making Chris get evaluated by a shrink.
