Last night I heard a lawyer friend give a good take on this latest batch of emails. This person has actually worked sex crime cases.

It’s like a movie that starts close to the end of the story. The email about Trump and Clinton was near Epstein’s *record scratch* *freeze frame* “yep that’s me, you’re probably wondering how I got here” moment when he got arrested again. And then the actual end of the movie is when he “hangs himself”.

That’s a heady quote and I’ll try to explain my point more. He says that the longer you are exposed to something, the more you are “used” to it. The more you get used to it, you may soon see it as normal or even okay. To put it simply, familiarity breeds acceptance.

I am not saying anyone here knowingly engages in this tactic when discussing pedophilia at any time, even unprompted. That’s going too far. I will, however, posit my belief that there are certain groups, (media, academia et al.) who want to see it discussed in any format so long as it gets discussed. Why? To repeat, familiarity breeds acceptance.

This may sound like “troll shielding” which is to join a cause in order to disguise yourself and have an alibi against criticism. This was very true of male sex pests in feminism 10 years ago or more. However, I believe it is different than that, because it is not one individual hiding themselves, but many individuals trying to “shift” the Overton window of what is acceptable.

I just want to reiterate that I don’t think any regular on this website is trying to constantly bring up unproductive and uncomfortable subjects on purpose to try and make it become typical. They do it merely to get a rise out of others. But I will say that they are, unknowingly, carrying the piss-buckets of those who do wish to see this horrible behavior become seen as less horrific.

In closing, this matter is one of the worst things a human being can possibly do. To discuss it so casually and flippantly is irresponsible at best, or hides a dark intent at worse.
