My own personal conspiracy theory is that he called a surprise election 2 days after Klaus Schwab announced he was retiring for the earliest possible date because he wanted to pitch for his job.
You have more respect for him than I do. I think he wanted to be out of the job early so he could take the kids for a trip to America during the summer holidays.

Someone must have pointed this out, but bears saying again.

Tories have lost their voters. Labour will do well not because of voters voting for them but because of Tory voters not bothering to show up to vote Tory. That is why Reform has the opening to make itself some room, because they are aiming for many Tory voters who might bother to show up just to put their foot on Sunak's neck and make his loss worse.

I offer my condolences to all the Brit kiwis. On today of all days I can sympathize with chaffing under British rule

Just curious, was there a reason why Sunak called the election knowing his party would be wrecked? Not that the British Tories will be any different than Labour but still.

In Canada, Trudeau's Liberals are expected to be destroyed in the next election but I don't see him calling an election to get destroyed faster
Likely shit was going to get worse if he left it if I had to guess. Rwanda deal he can hype up still, when after it happened would have been more clear how few people it would send, and how much it would cost.

Most of us don't care what skin colour Kemi Badenoch has. Look in this thread? Who is the one person who criticized her for it? The Labour supporter who calls her a race traitor "coconut". Every fucking time!
I mean. She's a foreigner in a position of power she absolutely should not have, and it's insane to me that people tolerate that. However, she's literally just a rootless cosmopolitan type. Which is still terrible, but miles and miles better than most of the labour scum. I'll take a disinterested business woman, with a managerial looting government; over the frothing bile of labour and the lib dems.

Except of course, I want the cons to be destroyed in their entirety. So I'm torn lol.

EDIT: Also, the cons aren't right wing. Haven't been for decades.

Labour pundits coping hard about reform doing well. Redditors are going to explode.

Conservative MP "maybe we've not been conservative enough", looks like they're getting the message.

Must be nice to know the outcome of the election shortly after polls close. Wish we could have this in the USA instead of a week of election fortification

While Rees-Mogg, is a twat; the interviewer asking him the most basic bitch, retard tier questions is infuriating.
"Did kicking out Boris make everyone hate you?" Is a question designed to get a non answer, when the man was actually talking about a lack of accountability and stability within a party structure. It's either done deliberately to be antagonistic rather than to actually try and deliver information to viewers, or the reporter is a spastic. I don't think the reporter is a spastic.

With FPTP I'm not sure that really makes sense. Add all the Reform votes to all the Tory votes and you'd have had far more seats for them in aggregate. But add 13 seats (predicted) from Reform to the Tory ones and it doesn't do much to change the balance of power.
Good point - it might not happen soon but I would expect it to happen before the next election. There's too much damage being done to right-wing representation to let both parties squabble for the same set of votes next time around. The political system isn't really equipped to allow new parties to gain a meaningful foothold and I don't get the impression Reform are ready to be a long-term presence here. Their funding still mainly comes from one man and they have no representation in the Lords for instance. I mainly view their success as a message that the Tories need to get their shit together (and it's why I voted for them).

Thank you for the rant on why the right is actually more egalitarian than most people give credit - I will probably call on those talking points tomorrow when I am called a bigot for admitting who I voted for ❤️

"maybe we've not been competent enough" would be closer.

Looking at the numbers, these are pretty worrisome results for Labour. I don't know if a bunch of supporters just stayed home or what.

Well we don't actually know and with Reform especially there's a chance it's off. But typically exit polls are surprisingly accurate. But what's really nice is that by morning everything will be properly tallied and we'll know for certain. All the constituencies have ranks of people all sitting there tallying the votes by hand, all under observation and you can watch the counting on TV too, it's actually quite good fun.

There are a few reasons why our counting happens so much more quickly but part of it is that our votes are simple and to the point - each ballot is just a vote for one candidate. We don't load the form up with a score of other things to vote for all at the same time.
