The German Bundestag is the representation of the people of the Federal Republic of Germany and, being vested with decisive legislative authority, its most important body. It is composed of representatives of the German people who are elected for four years in general, direct, free, equal and secret elections.

Election date

The Basic Law specifies the period in which a Bundestag election has to take place (Article 39 para. 1 of the Basic Law). In accordance with that provision, new elections are held between 46 months (at the earliest) and 48 months (at the latest) after the current electoral term has begun. If the electoral term of the Bundestag is terminated early, there have to be new elections within 60 days after the decision has been taken to dissolve the Bundestag. The electoral term of the 19th German Bundestag started on 24 October 2017 with its constituent sitting. Consequently, the date of the election will have to be within the period from Wednesday, 25 August 2021 to Sunday, 24 October 2021. Election day has to be on a Sunday or a public holiday (Section 16 of the Federal Elections Act). As a rule, Bundestag elections should not be conducted during main holiday seasons.

In consultation with the Federal Government, the Federal President has now set the election date for Sunday, 26 September 2021 (see order of the Federal President concerning the 2021 Bundestag election of 8 December 2020 (Federal Law Gazette I, p. 2769)). Irrespective of the election date, elections to the assemblies of party delegates may, at the earliest, be held 29 months after the electoral term of the Bundestag has begun, this would be from 25 March 2020 for this Bundestag election. Candidates may be elected 32 months after the electoral term has started, this means from 25 June 2020 (Section 21 (3), third sentence, of the Federal Elections Act).

Current opinion polls around the election. Union (christian democratic party) has been the leading party with Merkel for decades but it looks like it might be dethroned this year. SPD (social democratic party) has been declining as an opposition party though it is still a strong player. Grüne (enviromentalist party) has experienced rapid growth in the past few years and for the first time ever is competing in the big leagues. There are also the FPD (liberal), AfD (nationalist) and Linke (socialist) who will be relevant when a coalition will be formed.

I figured we will need this thread eventually so here it is. I will keep it updated as the election day comes closer.

Its a giant port, around the same size as LA.
You're not disputing what he's saying. Port cities are almost entirely shitholes to the point "seedy dock areas" is universally accepted as a believable scene in just about any piece of fiction. Hamburg, LA, Rotterdam, any of the big English ports...

well yes, but you need port cities and they always have bad parts. the dock area is very clean(liek every modern dock) but the amusement district right next to the docks is pretty shady.

It's not just seedy dock areas, it's more of a general vibe. Rotterdam, for having one of the largest ports in Europe, is actually pretty decent overall, including its center, while Amsterdam or Antwerp are much seedier and port-like in the quality of people there and general cleanliness. Hamburg falls closer to Amsterdam than Rotterdam.

Except that the bad part of Hamburg includes large parts of Altstadt and the city center...

Yes. where the poor people are. but its still alot better run than Berlin. or any Us city.
So the areas of somewhat historic interest are the shitty parts? I always assumed the suburbs in European cities were supposed to be the shitty areas. As for Berlin, I'm at least appreciative of the fact that there's an attempt there to rebuild parts of it into its pre war condition, making it much more interesting architecturally speaking.

Also kind of disputable, since Boston, Detroit, and Fort Worth are fairly decently run, all things considered.

LA is also less of a clusterfuck than you think since its largely whites and Hispanics getting elected to office, not typically joggers. Yeah, its a corrupt shithole like all Dem-run cities but... compared to Detroit, Chicago, or San Fran its paradise.

Hate defending Detroit, but it's actually cleaned up its act in the last ten years, aka as soon as the joggers elected a white guy.

Isn't that mostly just the city center where its got OCP-tier private cops doing everything short of summary executions whenever joggers try to jog?
I wish Detroit was like Robocop. The city center is where it's mostly been revived, but I haven't heard of there being private cops. I have heard that their police chief doesn't fuck around and isn't hampered in his job by the city.

I forget who, but someone mentioned on this forum ages ago (by Internet standards), that the business owners cut a deal with the city to let them implement something like that, and in exchange they would move there and make the place not shit. Even if I'm misremembering and it was just the city cops being ordered to bust skulls whenever criminals popped up, its still a sad indictment of urban residents.

That's entirely possible, though I think it was about turning a blind eye to the police doing their jobs. Our cities have always been shit, so the idea that we need to overemphasize completely wasteful and inadequate cities is an absolute joke.

Going back to the thread topic, I'm kind of glad the Germans had the sense to tell an uncharismatic jackass hand picked by his party's leadership to pound sand. They were going to get globohomo anyway, but I want to see Mutti's legacy at least get torched a bit.

If there's anything the Farms can agree on, its "fuck career politicians and fuck Merkel especially". Even Burgerfags and Europoors can agree that Merkel and her legacy need to die.
