At least 18 are dead after a series of explosions and shootings. There have been at least 4 separate, but coordinated incidents.

CNN live stream:

CNN also just announced that there are also 60 hostages being held in a theater.

Update: More than 128 dead. We got a new rating. Basically, everything went fucky.

Good. So this is an act of war, and on a NATO ally no less.

Can we strafe these fuckers now?
This is not an act of war. This is the actions of a handful of people that do not represent the country from which they hail.
Should we declare war on Mexico because Mexicans are killing and raping Americans?
Also, strafing is a very dangerous action. We would hurt and kill many innocent people that do not have to die.

Eh, I'd say it's more about inflicting fear in order to gain some kind of advantage.

Nope. "the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims." is the dictionary definition of the word. If by "gaining an advantage" you mean "change policies" then yes, that would qualify as actual terrorism.

The BBC says that the death toll is only around 129 as opposed to the 150 that was originally guessed; also, there are around 352 injured. ISIS has officially claimed responsibility.

I can't wait until Putin bombs ISIS into extinction.

Russia will not do it for the world's sake but for its own and to benefit itself, just as in World War II.

If it's to be to our advantage, we'll have to be in on it, unfortunately.

Good. So this is an act of war, and on a NATO ally no less.

Article V is probably actionable now.

Why are you censoring dissenting opinions?
Because, like mr Al-bagdadi, i am a petty dictator who hates freedom.

But mostly because 'isis is a peaceful movement' is weak bait.

Warning points issued. Allahu ackbar.

Damn, hope any French Kiwis and French citizens are safe. Also fear ISIS is trying to create scapegoats in Muslims, and that they are trying to get non-Muslims to hate any and all Muslims as a means to get more Muslims on their side. It's trying to make a cycle of violence so as to gain more power. As they say, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

My Facebook feed has had its fair share of reposts of anti-Muslim memes, including ones from groups like "Nordic Pride World Wide," etc. It's a shame that a lot of people just repost without looking at the source.

The knee-jerk reaction is understandable, but it's too easy to blame every member of a group for the actions of nutjobs. ISIS are lunatic bastards that need to be eradicated, but the Muslim dude down the street who serves the best shawarma in town and has never done anything to anyone is blameless. Stressful events like this always play to the lowest common denominator.

Sad thing is, its working. If the scapegoating works, they get more supporters. If it doesn't , they can just hide amongst the innocent. For IS it is a win-win, for everybody else its a loose-loose.

:story::story::story::story:

If you're retarded enough to believe in invisible magic dudes who want you to do shit for them...almost nothing dumb is out of the question for some of the adherents after that.

That being said, Islam is definitely chimping out the hardest right now.
