At least 18 are dead after a series of explosions and shootings. There have been at least 4 separate, but coordinated incidents.

CNN also just announced that there are also 60 hostages being held in a theater.

Update: More than 128 dead. We got a new rating. Basically, everything went fucky.

That was the supposed "reason" for the second war in Iraq. And that war directly caused the power vacuum that the guy above you talked about. Power vacuum that IS directly filled and now they have an army and literal military stuff the US gave to Iraq, soooo.

Most of the top Islamic State gangsters used to work for Saddam. Regardless of him setting up a "secular" republic, he was always one for cynical realpolitik and backing Islamic terrorists who happened to go after the Arab and the Sunni's enemies, much like those hateful cunts in Saudi Arabia.

Things would not be better with him still around.

Depending on certain sources, IS want to be crushed by the westerners, as they believe that it will signal the end times and bring about the Last Judgement. While this may be flourishing rhetoric, I suspect that they want to be crushed because it will cement them as martyrs of the cause and perhaps cause more to flock to the banner of extremist thinking.

Saddam was a counterweight to Iran and an obstacle to Iran-Iraq-Syria gas pipeline - the same pipeline US and Quatar do not want in Middle East.
Why did they dethrone Saddam? I mean, they cannot be this stu... wait, I take it back.

Not only is that not what terrorism is but even if that were the case, they're out to get afterlife pussy, they don't care if you're afraid of them or not. What you're describing is fear-mongering. Terrorism is the use of violence for political gain; a mob of pro-lifers beating up a nurse working for an abortion clinic would be terrorism.
