Prediction: when Toren finally leaves him, Phil will not just go insane. Phil will come to KF and start spilling the beans, trying to make us his personal army. He's just dumb enough to think this would work, and that if he rolled on his ex-lover we'd all stop laughing at him and start laughing with him. We'll hear "he abused me! He took advantage of me! You knew it was going to happen, you were all right, now I'm desperate, so please send money and help and pity."
Except we had a former lover of Phil's come here. A few even. But in particular Dusty/Weeping with pity/Phil's favorite foot long came here 'woe is me phil touched my enormous dick. Hey while I'm here, crowd fund my card game.' He got banned and harassed for being a lolcow in his own right. And before that shit people liked Dusty.

Did he ever bitch specifically about there being less money for art?

Seriously though, one of the things I don't get is why all these troons and other weirdos think they need to move to cities like Portland, New York and San Francisco.

For the most part Americans are taught those are the only places that exist. Our entertainment is almost always set there (which let's face it, entertainment is the only 'education' that a lot of people bother remembering when it's all said and done). And when entertainment isn't set in a major city, it's usually because they needed to use a rural area as a depressing set piece in a drama, or to laugh at how backwards everyone there is, or to kill off the cast somewhere secluded.
Anything else we learn about our country is probably historical (i.e. no longer relevant) or about modern events and movements based in major cities. Your average American has no idea what happens between the major cities beyond the vague idea that we grow corn and maybe some potatoes somewhere and then a dude fucks his cousin. The idea that there are perfectly functional communities and smaller cities doesn't even register as a possibility to them.

With Phil it's probably his idiotic map fetish keeping him locked in big name cities. If he looks at a map and sees a big star on it, why wouldn't he live where the star is? That's the best spot on the map, obviously. Other troons and lolcows probably have similarly specific reasons. Your average troon is probably positive they'd be stoned to death the second they stepped off the bus in a small town, because their world revolves entirely around themselves and the attention they can get, they literally cannot fathom that other people just want to get on with their lives and could give a fuck less. Alison Rapp probably feels like she needs to live "Where things actually happen" because she's confused and thinks she's a cultured sophisticated call girl despite being a depressing shut-in. DSP needs to maintain an impressive looking status way above his station the way the rest of us need oxygen, etc, etc.

The idea that they could quietly get apartments in bumfuck nowhere and live the exact same life with the addition of hundreds of extra dollars for their stupid toys? That's something that doesn't even occur to them.

Maybe he misinterpreted it as a "autistic tax."

Seriously though, one of the things I don't get is why all these troons and other weirdos think they need to move to cities like Portland, New York and San Francisco. Those are like the most needlessly expensive places to live. Especially if you don't have a job or any useful skills beyond displaying a reject from a 90s anime and screaming about "oppression." Yeah, yeah, cities have nice things, but gentrification is exactly why they want to move there in the first place. They'd be better off living in the suburbs, even just bumbling into the city on weekends when they want to make a spectacle of themselves.

They cluster to coastal cities because they tend to be very open to the LGBTQ scene and more liberal.

If these troons were smart, they'd move to the deep south or Bible Belt. Cheaper to live and they could actually have a case for screaming about oppression. But then again moving to such a (potentially) hostile environment could be slightly dangerous or simply uncomfortable, and when you're faking your gender identity you don't want that.

Its cheaper that way. At least in the short term. If they ever end up in jail then it gets expensive real quick. Just about as much as instiutionalization
Bit late, but the thing is that rehabilitation for prisoners AND mental health patients is significantly cheaper than locking up a prisoner. Oddly, it's cheaper to keep a mental health patient "locked up," and I hate using that term, than a prisoner.

I think Phil needs a stay in a decent mental health facility, no matter how long it takes him to become relatively "normal."

Then again, I know the system and am a bleeding heart.

But it isn't "tough on crime" so who gives a shit what actually works.

Tweaker initially came here on Phil's orders to do recon and Phil himself has socked here. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Even big cities in conservative states are pretty liberal and could probably get by there.

Care to throw out some numbers on how much cheaper each of those is? Percentages would be fine

Preventing repeat offenders seems to have gone by the wayside in the system since the mid-60's or so.

I'd settle for him getting his ass kicked, the mother beating wop.

The best art has always been funded by private sources, when government funds art it tends to be nationalistic, not that there's not a place for that stuff, memorials and statues and whatnot.
