I honestly can't think of anything which says "we're out of idea's and have nothing to say so are just throwing shit at a wall" better than this.

Then again a remarkable number of James bond movies are total shit so does anyone really care?

Fuck this noise, I was actually kinda hyped at the idea of an Idris Elba Bond.
He's got the acting chops, and he's a suave british man. That's all you really need to make a good bond.

The total shit ones are still enjoyable as fuck compared to some of the recent shit Hollywood is putting out.
Well not ALL the total shit ones but the majority of them I mean.

The only truly horrible Bond movie is Quantum of Solace.

"But hur die another day dur": This one would be considered perfectly ok had been released in the 70s. Just a goofy fun movie.

Does anyone even care about this upcoming movie? Because I barely hear people talk about it and so far it sounds like a real dumpster fire.
Anecdotal, but the biggest Bond fan I know, who is left-wing and pretty feminist, is dreading this movie and doesn't understand why they don't just make a new series if they're gonna change Bond so much that it's unrecognizable.

I doubt many people are looking forward to this. Bond fans want Bond, and the IdPol folks don't care about this franchise because they've already deemed it problematic.

You know what woke race-baity Bond shit people were cool with? Nay, actually EXCITED ABOUT?

Idris Elba as Bond.

Idris Elba, Chadwick Boseman, Isaiah Mustafa, you had so many good choices! Idris even said he wanted the job!

I'm not as pissed about this as a lot of people seem to be. I just find the concept pointless. It's painfully obvious that they're only casting a black actor to pander to the progtards, rather than on his acting chops. I would think that black actors might have a little more self awareness and realize that they're being used as props for the woke crowd to virtue signal. It's honestly a really insidious form of racism. We don't think you could work on your own merit, but your skin color is just what we need to look aware and progressive!

I suppose I better get on with my historical drama about Adele Hitler who decides she is a he and changes her name to Adolf goes completely mad and starts a war, kills millions of one group of people and so on. Simply Hitler was a Transman.
Nah, it has to be that Hitler was really just a repressed trans-woman. And if all those hateful German transphobes had just let him become the woman he was always meant to be, the Holocaust would never have happened. That he only rounded up the gays and lesbians because of internalized transmisogyny. He also rounded up the Jews because he was actually part Jewish and it was just internalized antisemitism. And it was all because of the repressive cis/het/white Germans that victimized poor Adolph into becoming such a monster.

Now that would get you a fucking oscar.

This is why I love Idris. He actively fights this narrative. A lot of people were asking him how he felt about being 'color-coded' into being a villain in Hobbs and Shaw. He just flat out said "Either you see my character as an entertaining villain first, or you see him as black first, so what does that say about you?"

Thought she was Cynthia Erivo

I'm still laughing at Grace Jones being like "Wuts going on here on this film set......oh look dumpsterfire. Fuck ya useless cameos byeeeeeee"

Just seeing no one talk about this upcoming Bond movie, not even any outrage and it seems like it's being sent out to die or something once it comes out with the lack of marketing.

Does anyone even legit care? I've already been put off by how they are trying to make Bond super PC and the production troubles reeks of something that's gonna be a dumpster fire from the sounds of it. The posters look insanely low effort compared to the previous Craig movies which further indicates they don't really give a shit.

It's gonna be way less PC than people are hyping it to be, that was obvious ever since they pulled the technicality of making "007", not Bond, a black woman. You don't pull that level of "well akshually" technicality to hype the film as progressive without giving it up you're desperate for controversy/backlash to get some free promotion for a polished turd.

It's getting no attention because none of the principal creative forces behind the movie are all that excited about it, and there hasn't been a great James Bond flick in the last 13 years. They've tried 4 times now to get Daniel Craig's Bond to resonate after Casino Royale and, for whatever reason, it hasn't really worked out. If you write new stories they wind up forgettable like Quantum of Solace. If you rehash old lore you get Spectre. Skyfall was ok but wasn't super memorable outside of redditors endlessly obsessing over its cinematography (does that make Skyfall 2012's version of BR2049?)

Let's just get this over with so we can cast a new actor and maybe James Bond will have a chance of being interesting again.

This is the same movie where the production aren't allowed to refer to Bond girls as "Bond Girls" anymore. And even if they cast a new Bond it will be PC as shit and will become irrelevant.

Hopefully we will see the first trailer soon...and how bad this movie is potentially gonna be.
And on a side note, I shitpost on /tv/ often and so far none of the threads relating to this upcoming Bond movie have really broke 100 posts. It just seems the interest isn't really there right now.

Massive respect to Grace

and also the fake out is to "Set up" that 007 isnt a literal person named James Bond so they can dispatch with that to have the Muslim-Tranny-demisexual-autistic-quadrapalegic bond in the next movie

The problem is, I don't understand why they aren't just making a spin-off.

I think a lot of people would like a period film taking place in the 60s or 70s with a younger M. Cast someone who looks like a younger Judi Dench like Carey Mulligan or Michelle Williams in the role.

It was feasible to have M be a woman rather than a man because "M" as a codename isn't gendered. 007 aka James Bond are both code names, and there's an archetype associated to the character that makes him pretty macho and, according to your typical Tumblrinas, *gasp* problematic. It's part of the character. Whether you like it or not is irrelevant.

Like, sure, make a female agent who has her own codename, her own backstory, and let the actual James Bond films continue and cross over with her stories while she has her own films. You get a nice franchise to exploit. Just changing James Bond into a Strong Womyn of Color doesn't work because it just isn't James Bond anymore. It's just a new franchise that decided to plagiarize Sir Ian Fleming's work out of laziness. And if you want to really take out the woke card, if you want to make a film centering on a black female spy, invent something new instead of copying someone else's homework.

For instance, I can't say I particularly liked Atomic Blonde (I just thought it was pretty boring overall), but I'll give it kudos for at least trying to make something new. And it's a real shame The Man from U.N.C.L.E. didn't do well because it was genuinely a fun movie.

As for the Bond movies being kind of lacklustre since Casino Royale - I think Eva Green as Vesper Lynd and her chemistry with Daniel Craig as Bond was a big part of what made the movie good. Killing her off was a mistake (and now we're stuck with White Bread Léa Seydoux who can't act to save her life).

I didn't like how eventually the Daniel Craig movies ended up doing something like Dark Knight Rises or Die Hard 5 (I didn't see a review of 4 unlike with 5 so i can't talk about it) with having the protagonist ending up old and treated like he's obsolete, first time i read that they were going with that with Daniel Craig i cringed
