A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

He used to get people to call him 'Baloo'
Oh shit, I know exactly who you mean now. I grew up in that area too and the name always stuck with me as rumours get round, but I was sure I was mixing him up with another gross fucking pervert from a couple of streets away (also called David). Yeah, now it clicks.

It’s a pretty poor area but most people are the poor but have fucking standards type. As opposed to the poor but take advantage of every fucker including (and especially) kids. Are the whole family in the US now? How the fuck did “Aimee” get a visa will all that going on?

It's a reflection of how our democracy developed.

For some reason I can't see the post you're replying to but I'm assuming it's somebody bemoaning Labour's long drawn out leadership contest proceedings.

And while I appreciate different parties have different traditions, it's a matter of national interest that a ruling party's internal procedures should not result in a six month period of governmental paralysis while they sort themselves out.

They can fuck around as much as they like when they're out of government, but when theyve got a country to run they're fucking around on our time and it's not acceptable.

Biden administration, AFAIK. They were letting all types in.

I’m puzzled on the unions.

Are they ‘socialist’ pro-immigration? ‘More ‘workers’ = more members = more funds = more power’?

If they gave a fuck about the working class of this country they’d be Restore, of course (rainbow). None of the unions were built with a ‘Deliveroo’/‘Amazon Prime’/‘Uber’ economy in mind.
Excuse me, it's "workers of the world, unite". They see no difference between Big Dave the plumber and Moped Muhammad.

No. As I knew the Dad. He did charity fun runs all the time, and some friends introduced him to me. He used to get people to call him 'Baloo' because he said he was so friendly. Messed with my head for years afrer the news came out.
Well you have the experience. But Aimee Challenor was actually living in the same house and from what I recall when I looked it up, it was not a large house. I also take one look at Aimee Challenor and there is zero doubt in my mind that he was abused. So frankly, I find it very hard not to come down on the side of him not knowing his father was an evil child abuser. And the guy got his father a role in the Green Party. And the Green Party initially closed ranks around Challenor to protect him as well. I wouldn't touch either party that knowingly had Aimee Challenor in it. And then there was the time Aimee Challenor was unmasked as a Reddit mod, to boot! And Reddit closed ranks around him initially as well. First time I saw Aimee Challenor he was being interviewed on, I think, Newsnight. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, but at that point the father's child abuse hadn't come out. Even so, you'd have to be delusional to look at Aimee Challenor and want him anywhere near your party.

A conviction in two days sounds like the type of shit that would be revoked in a few months and end up with the people being given a juicy hand out for the troubles
Southport riots. It's the exact same move except these geniuses recorded themselves too. They were rounded up, pled guilty, over and done.

I suspect their sentences will be substantially less than any of those frog marched through the justice system that summer.

I remember when Ashton/Aimee was standing for the Green Party (or was it the Lib Dems? I know he went from one to the other but can’t remember in what order) a crack team of online TERFs did a deep dive into the family and discovered that, at one point, the three kids had been taken into care. There had been a FB campaign by Mr and Mrs Challenor to get them back, which they obviously did.

Did you know much about that, or would it have been some years prior?

BTW I think Gooner in this context means a supporter of Arsenal Football Club (whose fans refer to themselves as goons and have done so for many years).

His pure and innocent mind could never comprehend the horros of modern gooning.
My money is on him having at least 3 anime waifu body pillows. And yhe Laundry staff at 10 Downing Street suffering from PTSD.
