Cartoonist Scott Adams has died after a battle with prostate cancer.

Adams' first ex-wife, Shelly, revealed the news during a live stream on "Real Coffee with Scott Adams."

We broke the story ... Shelly told us just yesterday that Scott entered hospice and was receiving end-of-life care amid his rapidly declining health. She said nurses were going in and out of the home while she, her daughter and her sister were providing care as well.

Scott even recorded a podcast episode during which he acknowledged it may be his last ever ... which feels even more poignant now given his passing.

Scott was 68.

Story developing ...

*sigh*

I suppose we all knew, deep down, that Dogbert wasn't actually going to take over the world and reward all his faithful one day. Still, it was a good joke to be had by those "in the know", hey?

RIP Scott, he was a bit of a lolcow in his latter years and his pro-vaxxie stance very well could have factored into his demise, but he was a genuinely funny dude who helped a lot of us who have ever worked in office environments get through the day with a bit of humor. I think all of us have had a PHB in our lives at some point or another.

I was in college for engineering when Dilbert was on the rise. That shit hit home even then. Then, when I got a "real" job, the reality was that it really was a Dilbert world out there.

Not much has changed since.

I recommend reading his book The Dilbert Future and you will be amazed by how much shit he said back then that seemed absurd in the 90s but seems prophetic now.

Literally only today I found out how severe his situation was as numerous outlets were reporting that he had only days to live. Fuck.
At least there's no place further away from niggers than heaven.

Listening to his podcast as he slowly faded has been a painful but inspiring experience. By the end you could tell that he wasn't even there any more... but his stubborn ass kept showing up despite having nothing left to give, even if it required having an entire team dragging his ass to the finish line as he mused about how he was collapsing in to a drugged up bleeding heap of flesh.

My morning coffee won't ever be the same.

Rest in Peace.
