Perhaps I'm dumb, but I actually thought they were going to emulate anime more than they did. Like how Avatar looked like anime. Then again, you'd need artists for that, not people looking to draw for a paycheck. That might be the gayest sentence I've ever wrote, but its true!

Weird. The rollback makes me feel like I lost some memory of this thread. Didn't I shit talk the characters? Didn't someone point out how the orange haired dickhead in the back is probably trans? I think that would actually be a neat story for a character, but you know they'll fuck it up by just saying "trans rights are human rights! Trans people are valid!" instead of actually having a dialogue about gender dysphoria or anything interesting. Actually, has any show done that? Has any show actually went in and said "this is dysphoria, and it ain't fun"?

While we're on the topic of the characters, I fucking hate Rosemary's(?) hair. Its like a bucket's on her head.

They look like they barely have any volume or weight to them, that's what makes them even worse, I even tried my hand at a shitty sketch to try and make her hair look at least decent.

Its weird how much better that looks, but you'd still have to solve the issue of her bangs. They droop over her head like she's wearing a wig, it looks dumb. I feel like her hair worked better in the original cartoony style of the show. It still looked goofy, but the goofy style sort of makes the show look more endearing.

I'm guessing they were afraid of having a full on cartoon looking show on Crunchy Roll, so they changed the style.

And joke's on Crunchyroll, it still doesn't look anime-enough and no teenager will watch it on an anime streaming platform. Hell, the adaptations of Korean webcomics still look like anime compared to this wanna-be.

I did, teehee. I speculated that because he seems to have a crush (in a nonpredatory way) on the blue girl and since wokesters despise "classic" straight couples...
Also, he's has this "uwu softboi" thing going on and these types tend to get a shitton of trans headcanons in fandoms.
I doubt they'll do tranny character right or interesting, I'm sure it'll be something like "There's literally no difference between cis men/women and trans men/women and if you question anything then you're an irredeemable bigot and deserve to die reeeeeee".
I'm also predicting a (white male) strawman character that will be racist aganist elves or something.
 
The school looks so..... underwhelming. The shitty cgi doesn't help it (Seriously, the early 2000s Winx Club has a better looking CGI Alfea) but it's so boring and unimpressive for a supposed magical school. I thought the school was gonna be that castle on the hill in one of the pieces of background concept art, which were funnily enough the only somewhat impressive part of the entire trailer. That's where you'd think a super prestigious magical school would be located, at least.

The lines also look softer and the characters have a rounder appearance. Like the whole "cal-arts" style thing that people hate so much. Honestly, I'd take this look over the fake Anime look simply because it looks like the characters are more dynamic and expressive. Now, it looks like anime blob shit.

Its not even hate watch worthy. Maybe to anime fags, but they don't like anything but the most generic waifu filled bullshit. I swear to god this show is just going to come and go, and that'll be the end of it.
 
And it's trying WAAAY too hard to be like Little Witch Academia, except that anime had soul and integrity, two things High Guardian Spice lacks.
