Oh, and about the supposed tips goal of Saturday's Fundbegging Marathon... Let's use some
fun facts to come up with a possible and realistic amount, shall we?
- DSP himself claimed he needs $150 per stream to be able to have a an income comparable to when he was streaming on Twitch
- so, in his own words, if he hits $150 per stream on average, it's enough to get him through the month
- since adding the $150 tips on July 22nd, DSP streamed 35 times and received at least $4.819 in tips up until yesterday (when he green-lit the marathon)
- that makes $137 per stream on average, so only(!) $13 below the average tips goal
- so, realistically speaking, this means that DSP "missed out" on $13 x 35 streams = $455 in total
And this is where it gets interesting, because $455 for doing a marathon is "only" $155 above the $300 he expects on a normal day (2 x $150). I find it VERY hard to believe he'll set up a tips goals that's only $150 above the $300 daily goal, because that would mean he has been crying wolf all week about being roughly $150 short on paying his mortgage, which is money one or two of his sad and lonely whales are able to cough up at any random point in time during a regular stream.
So IF he sets up a goal that's (substantially) higher than $500, he once again upped the ante and basically retconned his own explanation on what amount of money he needs to get through the month.
