People bring up Waco but Waco was the ATF and later FBI looking for scalps and they had the media running cover for them if and when they ended up fucking up massively. The fedbois have nothing to gain optically from proactively going after a pack of stunning and brave autists that've only gotten puff pieces written about them when actually mentioned in the media and so they won't. I'm actually pretty certain they are on some FBI watchlist but it's because of that the FBI knows to leave well enough alone. Only way this ends in a federal standoff is if they graduate from LARPing around town to actually plate checking the first 'nazi' they see.

What federal law prohibits open carry? So far as I know, open carry is entirely legal in Colorado, even of a loaded weapon.

You can open carry, but you cannot drive a car while holding a rifle. Being in a vehicle on the public road changes everything. Granted, that photo may have been taken on their property. Looking at it again, I don't see signs of a road. However this is BFE so who knows. Either way, it's a stupid picture to take Let alone post on social media.

Nothing is going too grow there for a long time. Even tolerant high desert species won't be able too grow now that the soil is compacted from constant hoof pressure. Now, what topsoil is left is going erode away from wind. Water will be unable too percolate into the soil. The tranchers have set up a negative ecological feedback loop and killed the sustainability of their land for years to come.

Like, I know there's that one all women group in India that hunts down rapists and wife-beaters to threaten them with sticks, but since sticks are their best weapons I can't really consider them 'paramilitary' (no guns). I know there are a few militaries in various countries that have had all women divisions (Russia had the all women pilots group in WWII), but that's not paramilitary. It's just regular military.

So, do any Kiwis know? Has there ever been an all female paramilitary group, or are the tranchers proving they're really men by virtue of their LARP?

It's interesting that they're not claiming to be homing their rescued person, instead "we found somewhere safe for them to go". It undermines their grift that they're housing and looking after people as a trans safe haven. This is more like an underground railroad situation, but that suggests it's incredibly easy and quick to find somewhere safe for a vulnerable trans woman to go (even in rural Colorado), which in turn undermines their grift.

Most likely they've realised this grift didn't work so "oh she moved away to a safe place we found her" is a great way to close that chapter. I'm vaguely interested by the mention of a long term resident leaving too - it might just be a lie ("one of the other people we totally rescued is also leaving!") but it could be a cover for e.g. Jen packing up and leaving.

If you want to make basic hummus, you just blend tinned chickpeas, tahini, garlic and lemon juice into a paste. That's it. No cooking involved. It's cheap and quick to make and it scales easily, and you can make it with a bunch of shelf stable ingredients that don't go off quickly. You basically can't fuck it up, the hardest part is cleaning the blender afterwards.

There's a lot of things you should do if you want to ensure the hummus turns out really well. Simmer the chickpeas and peel them, squeeze a lemon instead of using a bottle of lemon juice, or make your own tahini by toasting sesame seeds. Season it to taste, add a bit more lemon juice if you need to. But if you've got low standards then it's fine. You might just end up with mediocre bland hummus that's a bit too grainy. For all we know they've not even added garlic, but it looks like hummus and they've jazzed it up with an olive oil drizzle and some paprika. Traditionally hummus would be served with oil on it, so that's not out of line, and they've gotten better at not drowning the whole thing in olive oil.

Also dear God that's a lot of hummus. Even if you're feeding a lot of people, having that as a snack before dinner is going to fill you up quick. People forget that while hummus is "healthy", it's incredibly calorific. The ratio of crudites to hummus is also way off, there's going to be a lot left over unless they've got some pita bread out of frame (although yes, you can just eat hummus with a spoon, I've known arabs who eat it like it's yoghurt).

They've realised they can do this simple task and at least feel slightly competent, which is why they make hummus so often. You'll notice that despite loving hummus and buying loads of tahini, they've never attempted to branch out into baba ganoush, or making a tahini dip and serving it with falafel. I'll give them partial credit for making a "tahini sauce" for lamb one time, but I'm pretty sure that was just mixing tahini with oil and using that as a marinade.
